Terrible experience. Unbelievably dry chicken, the rice seemed old, as did the plantains. I will not be ordering from here again.

Solid all around. The food was great and the cafecito was BALLER!!! I got the bistec empanizado, rice, and black beans. My wife had the grilled chicken, beans, and rice. Overall the experience was great and the food was amazing!!! I would totally recommend it!

FINALLY I found a Cuban restaurant that reminds me of home. If you blink, you’ll miss this place and that would be a shame because it’s worth your time and money. The ham croquetas, papa rellena, and tamales are about as perfect as physically possible and they have mamay shakes! There’s also a selection of Spanish sodas and of course, café con leche a.k.a. life source.

First time visiting and really satisfied with everything. We had tamales as appetizer and they were amazing. I ordered a super delicious Guanabana shake and we had 2 Cuban Sabdwiches. They were pretty good. Also had a Café con Leche and it has been the closest to Puertorrican Coffee I’ve had in the US. If you are a fan of strong coffee(real coffee for me) then you must try it. For dessert you have to taste the Coconut flan! It is to die for! We’ll definitely go back.

Very good. I’ve been eating the bistec steak from 14 years. Delicious! Family ran, very classy, generous people. Can’t say enough positive about this down home hidden beauty!

We order from here often at work and I always go for the chorizo sandwich. I could have it every single day and be totally content. Sad part is, sometimes they are out but I tell myself it must be because it’s either so popular they run out of chorizo or they simply limit their stock for freshness? We always give them ample time to prepare the order, since on some days they can get quite busy during lunch hours(especially on Fridays, it’s like a cop convention in there and is jammed packed!). They’ve never messed up a single order, no matter how large. I’ve also dined in and had the ropa vieja and find it to be quite authentic in flavor. My friends are fans of the picadillo. Yum!

Last time I ate here, I got food poisoning from the ropa vieja. Since then, I’ve been afraid to go back. I know it was from here since my family all ate the same thing the day that we got sick, except my daughter and I both had their ropa vieja for lunch. However, normally the food is pretty good. Like the other reviews said, they are usually out of something.

Now that my husband and I have moved, we don’t get to eat here nearly as often. But in our«heyday» of coming to this place, it got to the point where the owner had memorized our order. We usually get the ropa vieja and picadillo. We have stopped eating pork, but the Cuban sandwiches are awesome. The roast chicken is great and so are the plantain chips!(I don’t even like plantains.) The last time we went, each person also got a free house wine or beer with their meal. There is not much in the way of ambiance, but this is where the locals eat, so you know the food is good and authentic. Huge portions and good prices. You can’t go wrong!

Very good cubans, empanadas, and papa rellenos. Large portions so you will have another meal. Great value, will be back.

Delicious authentic cuban cuisine and affordable prices. The ropa vieja is oustanding and is served with your choice of white or yellow rice, black beans, and sweet plantains. Definitely come hungry because the portions will satisfy the largest of apetites. I have to agree with a previous rating that the chairs definitely need to be cleaned or replaced as they give a very negative first impression to new customers.

I LOVETHEIRWINGS, it’s our favorite!!! But if it’s a busy day, getting there after 1PM, they may run out! But not today, yummm… It’s one of the few places that tastes close to home Cuban cooking as you can get! They accompany your meals with pressed HOT buttered Cuban Bread in a basket! The food always served piping HOT, like I like it, too many Restaurants are serving their food tepid for my taste and Their prices is moderate and«well» proportioned servings, practically never leaving hungry. They serve typical Cuban dishes from Cuban sandwiches and croquettes, to Black Beans and rice, with pulled pork, plantains or tostones, featuring daily specials! There’s also Espresso and their deserts vary, from flan to sometimes tres leches… Make sure to ask for the«mojito»(a garlic sauce), to add on your dish, if you like the extra flavor! The only thing, I don’t like but at a personal level, is I had chicken soup and though it was tasty, they tend to use a lot of the, I would think Sofrito or your packaged seasoning, that turns your food a deep yellow… My soup was all just a deep yellow, the noodles everything, just very very yellow… not that it tasted bad but would love to see more NATURAL spices used where colorings and preservatives, that’s bad for you, can be eliminated to promote more health conscience Good Eats! But eating out is NOT your healthiest choice, that’s main stream food, now a days, so can’t blame them for that… This is a small little hole in the wall where you can pass it easily but make sure to make the U turn if you do, you won’t pass it up ever again… Say Hi to Missy and Alex for me! They are a husband and wife team and seem to complement each other as Alex is the cook and Missy serves!

This is my favorite Cuban restaurant… just a note about the less than good reviews that have also been posted on here, you MUST give them a second chance… this is a small FAMILY owned and operated business. They are not perfect, but they ARE exceptional. The food is amazing and the service is also excellent. Everyone has a bad night /day and if you had a poor experience at Alex’s, then you absolutely MUST go back and give them another try. Because on most days, they do a very good job. It’s true that they have a very VERY strong base of regular customers. You’ll see the same faces over and over again when you go in there… there’s a reason for that! My daughter and I have become members of that«regular customer» club too! We love it that much!

Atmosphere: casual and laid back, definitely gives you the feeling you’re among locals. Food: good, homemade, but meat in both entrees was dry; papa relleno was the best I’ve had(compared to Rolando’s and a new mom-and-pop place I can’t remember the name). Reasonably priced. Service: friendly but a bit stressed(only one server for entire restaurant).

This is a small place in a nondescript strip mall but there is nothing small or nondescript about the food. You can tell this is a place with a following since most of the people in there appeared to be regulars. When we arrived at about 12:45 the place was full and we had to wait for a table. Not long after we had been seated the lunch crowd began to dissipate and things calmed down. I had the roast pork platter and the pork was tender and flavorful. The red beans and rice were also quite tasty and the sweet bite of maduros was a nice compliment to the marinated pork and the tang of the onions. Marty got the daily special, which was Vaca Fritta — a fried shredded beef. He enjoyed his meal too but thought my pork was the better of the two. Portions were generous and we had ample left over for a second lunch the next day. Service was efficient and friendly. This a great local spot for good Cuban basics at a fair price. We’ll be back.

Alex’s is a cozy place to get some solid Cuban food. The prices are very good and the flavor is authentic. One thing that always gets me is how early they close. I always forget that it’s 8PM since most things in Orlando close at 10PM. Driving all the way to Longwood and then finding out it is closed breaks my heart.

Alex’s is a small hole-in-the-wall Cuban restaurant which serves authentic Cuban dishes like Bistec Empanisado, Ropa Vieja, and Lechon. The owners of Alex’s used to own Rolando’s in neighboring Casselberry. The food is always flavorful and plentiful! It is reasonably priced($ 6 lunch, $ 9 dinner). Try the Ropa Vieja — you will not be disappointed! The only downfall is that the restaurant closes early — 8:00, and is also closed on Sunday and Monday. Fridays at lunch are particularly busy at Alex’s — it seems every policeman from three cities descends on the place at the same time. Someone call 911 so I can get a table!
