Apex Transmissions

Well, one day the car wouldn’t drive forward. Great. It’s paid off so repairs are still cheaper than a new car payment. Our regular mechanic said to tow it directly to Apex to have it checked out, as this is where he farms his transmission work to. One AAA call later, the car was towed and we were waiting for the worst.
Walter, the owner of Apex, promptly called upon our cars arrival and advised me of the most identifiable issue– and warned that there could be/​probably were other issues that were revealed upon taking the transmission apart. Walter gave us a price range for the repairs, we authorized the work and waited for a call back. The next business day he called with a detailed estimate, explained all of the issues and stayed within his original estimate range. We had the car back a day later and it drives great. As standard, we have a 1 year warranty on repairs that were completed.
While transmission work is not fun, nor inexpensive, I feel we got a fair price and were very well informed. Walter seemed very up and up, like our regular mechanic. (Advanced Auto Tek) Considering you cannot usually «plan» repairs of this nature, the experience was not awful as the repair turn around was quick combined with Walters prompt, friendly and informative phone calls. I’ll update this review if needed, as I only have 25 miles on the new transmission.
