Solid three. Our server was sweet and did a great job. The food itself is just lackluster. Average for your run of the mill strip mall Chinese. We really enjoyed the egg and spring rolls. The gyoza was slightly chewy rather than crunchy pan fried. We had the beef drunken noodles as a special and they were great! The crispy hot beef looked pretty but it was soggy and not crisp at all. The eggplant in garlic sauce was incredibly sweet. In fact all the food(aside from the fried stuff) was overly sweet. So, is it the best? No. But if you’re looking for Chinese for lunch, I say give it a go! :)

I’ve worked next door to this place for going on 5 years now. While I’m fond of the staff, I’m sorry to say that I find their food to just be okay. Admittedly, I only order 3 things which I find they make that I like and they are the Moo Shi Pork/Beef(you need to add 2 extra pancakes though) Hunan Beef & Kung Pao Chicken(I ask for extra spicy for mine). The chicken wings are almost soggy because they’re too oily. The Lo mein is flavorless. One time I ordered the Garlic Beef and I couldn’t even finish it. It just didn’t taste good. I’ve tried other things on their menu but it has just been a bit lackluster for me. Just tonight I ordered the Moo Shi Shrimp for the first time. Now I’m not expecting 30k shrimp but 9 pieces of shrimp maybe the size of a quarter(yes I counted) for $ 10? I might as well have gone next door to Giant and gotten a pound of shrimp steamed for $ 7.99.

I have to give them credit for having friendly/polite staff. Sadly, I’ve enjoyed better Chinese food from mall food courts. I eat a lot of chinese food — a lot — and have my entire life, but this is perhaps my least favourite ever. I gave them a pass the first time I ordered, but after 6−7x ordering different items I have given up. My wife has banned their food from the house. So even though they deliver, I am forced to drive to a local carryout joint. I do suggest at least giving it a try once, as two of my regular ‘Chinese night’ dinner guests swear it is the best Chinese food they have ever had(they always order tofu items).

We love this place. It has become our go-to restaurant when we want Chinese food. The atmosphere is very friendly and laid back. Pretty sure it is a family business. The food is excellent, served piping hot and plenty of it. It may not always be the fastest place, but we enjoy being able to relax and not having the feeling of being rushed. Some restaurants you barely have the appetizer for 2 minutes and here comes your meal. Lots to choose from the menu. My husband laughs at me, because I always order Hot and Sour soup at Chinese restaurants. If I don’t like the soup, we never and I mean never, go back! I obviously LOVE their hot and sour soup! Give them a try!

Wonderful restaurant and very good delivery. One must remember to say no MSG — if you are sensitive to it like me. Also, very friendly staff.

My fist experience here was take out, and the food was not impressive but I decided to give it another shot, and sat in their restaurant. The food was MUCH better and the staff was very nice. The food came out quickly, but it took a while for the waiter to come back to drop off the check. Good food and reasonable prices.

Meh. Great coupons. Mediocure Chinese. We do this for take home but never for dine in. Convenient but less than spectacular. Ask for green onions in the Mongolian and extra pancakes with the moo shi pork.

Picked up some moo shi pork from this place and brought it home. They left the pancakes and plum sauce out of the order. Just as I was discovering this, they called to let me know that they had left the plum sauce and pancakes out of the order. They asked me if I wanted to come pick it up. I was six miles away by then. They didn’t apologize, didn’t offer any sort of consolation prize, or even to have their delivery person drop it off. Moo shi pork is pretty boring without the pancakes and plum sauce. And I paid for those things.

Great food! Service is friendly but a bit slow. This is a family business I believe. Very clean. I had crab Rangoon which was delicious, I also had shrimp and scallops in garlic sauce. Very good although it was very strong in sauce. I recommend for anyone looking for low cost Chinese food, they also offer free delivery.

Terrible service. If you like being ignored I highly recommend this place. Sat at our table for 20min waiting for some water and get our order taken, but the waitress stood next to the cashier and occasionally looked at us. The cashier ignored her and us while staring at his iPhone most of the time.

I really wanted to like this place. I really did. The service and staff was so friendly on my visit there, but the food was literally the most disgusting food I’ve ever had in my life. I don’t know if they were having an off day or what, but I didn’t even finish more than 5 bites of the food because it was just that bad. I ordered the moo shu shrimp, and it smelled like the shrimp was just old and fishy and BLECH, and it tasted like garbage juice. The egg drop soup that my kiddo ordered was bland and just not good. I don’t think we’ll be coming back here ever again, even despite the great service.

Went in with my friend for dinner on a weekday night and it was pretty busy. The waitress was really young and timid but nice nonetheless. The food was average, not the best Chinese I’ve eaten. This place gets 3 stars for location, atmosphere, and service.

This was some of the best tasting Chinese food and one of our favorites. A few months ago something changed. The last three times the food has been bland and tasteless. They have also raised their prices. We will not be ordering from them any time soon. Did ownership change? Really disappointing.

had a taste for Chinese on my way home finally decided to give this place a try. Disgusting — I’m sorry no other word for it. Ordered general tso chicken, fried rice(paid extra) and combo lo mein No flavor in any of them. noodles were very mushy, fried rice was only rice — first time ever I’ve ordered fried rice and there were no egg, onions or veggies Chicken — no spice at all, sauce was runny and was the meat was mushy. 20 bucks thrown in the trash.

I went here today on my way home from Centreville and I was on Route 123 so… makes sense right? Stopped in, and ordered the L15, the Twice cooked Pork lunch special which comes with fried rice and an egg roll. I don’t think that I’ve ever had a piping hot flavorless meal in my life before today… but there’s a first time for everything. On top of that, there weren’t any mushrooms in my dish which I thought was really weird since every other Chinese place has mushrooms in their twice cooked pork. Alas, the experience wasn’t all bad, it went to horrible quickly as I asked for a free glass of water to drink while I was waiting for my carry-out meal and the older man barked at me that he had bottled water. I quickly said, «Oh, I just want a glass of water with no ice to drink while I am waiting for my food» He QUICKLY told me that the free water in the glass was for dine-in customers only. But there were no dine-in customers as the entire restaurant was empty. Needless to say, I will not ever be back again ever never in my life. I would encourage them to use more MSG and to actually put some pork in the twice cooked pork.

Decent stop for Chinese food if you don’t mind the tv being on w/full volume and the service is nice enough. Nothing will wow you, but it’s a safe bet for okay Chinese food at a fair price.

Hunan Lorton is a little gem tucked away in the corner of the plaza. Each time I have been in there the place was not busy at all. I will say they do a lot of take out business and a steady stream of orders going out the door. I have eaten there numerous times, and the food has always been hot and fresh with plenty of flavor. I normally get the spicy Hunan Delight which has beef, chicken, and shrimp. I tried the pan fried dumplings and they where very good too.

I’m not sure why this place always seems pretty empty. Location? But if you’ve got a hankering for Chinese, they’re good. The woman that runs the place is super friendly and remembers you when you come back. I recommend the tofu dishes.

Wish I could give this 2 ½ stars, but Unilocal won’t let me. Went here today with my Wife and Daughter after we had gone to the new Art Center just down the road from here. Went inside after looking at the menu in the window, and the hostess asked if we were eating in or taking out. Told her that we were eating in. Sat us at a table and gave us our menus, didn’t see the lunch specials in there that were for 11 — 3pm. The hostess asked what we had wanted to drink, and we all ordered Water with a Lime Slice with it. We’ll still looking over the menu and the hostess brings our drinks and leave. We finally decided what we’re getting and the hostess takes our order. about 10 minutes later, our food comes, and it doesn’t look too bad. I take some of my Pork Fried Rice and put it on the plate. I added some Soy Sauce, and tasted it. It wasn’t hot enough, and it really didn’t have any flavor to it. Then I noticed that the Scallions were not in it. My Wife dish didn’t look to bad, but said her food wasn’t that hot either. My daughter really didn’t say anything about her’s and just ate. My Wife and I noticed that it was cold in the place, and started to put our jackets on just to stay warm. We also sawa that even though it was lunch time, threre wasn’t anyone else in the place. Bad sign now, should have gone to either 5 Guys, or Ledos or Quiznos now for lunch. Ending up taking the rest of it home, and hopefully will get it to taste better than in the restuarant. Also saw I gues was a person that either works there, or maybe one of the owner with his child eating Chicken Tenders from the local McDonalds as we were paying the check. Remember not to eat here if the owners are not eating their own food for now on.

I’ve been here several times and think its about time for a review. I’ve had both delivery and dine in experiences. You get everything you expect from a chinese food experience: a menu that is loaded with selections(many that you have no idea what they are), cheap prices, and more than you can eat portions. With that out of the way let me talk about how their food compares with the average place. One thing that separates a chinese place from another comes down to how their sauces taste and quality. My benchmark is ually general tsos chicken. My first experience was one that was memorable: the chicken was very crispy and the sauce was good but nothing special. I’ve also had their chciken and broccoli dish. The broccoli is more fresh than your average place but the sauce is comparable. Overall I would say that hunan lorton is one star greater than the avreage chinese place. As I mentioned before, I have been several times and their food does lack consistency. I will also mention that the service is quick and quite friendly. Im giving them a 3 but really they are a 3.5.
