Nittany Business Movers

Nittany moved my studio apartment from DC to NYC in one day for a very fair price. Movers were efficient, managed a stressful parking situation on the street in NYC, and careful with my belongings. Everything arrived in perfect condition.

It took me 3 hours to move into the studio apartment using just a regular van with the help of one friend. When I wanted to move the same stuff from Silver Spring to DC, I used Nittany expecting an easy experience. Boy was I wrong. Two men showed up. One basically didn’t work the entire time. The other was rude and belligerent. They claimed not to understand how to use the elevator key (which I’d obtained) but really I kept seeing them «lose» the elevator so that they could go stand outside and smoke. After 3 hours of not even finishing my packing, I asked why they weren’t going faster (I did not have much stuff) and the rude one (who turned out to be the manager) said that I should be helping instead of complaining. Here I thought I’d hired movers because they were paid to do the job. After 6 hours of pushing them to actually work, they finally got to my new place and unpacked. My bike was damaged but they wouldn’t give me a claim form. They claimed it was my fault because I had taken the bike out to the van (this is after they told me that I should help). They also threatened me when I told them that I didn’t think they had actually worked the entire time and shouldn’t charge me for the full 6 hours. Because they were two big guys and I was a girl on my own, I paid them (they only took cash — which is a red flag I now know) but it was the worst and most traumatic moving experience of my life. This was a few years ago. Since then I’ve used many moving companies (which I now am more careful to check out and vet, and also make sure they take credit). This place is run by thugs. I get the feeling they thought they could take advantage because I was a single female on my own for the move. I strongly caution anyone considering using them. There are better companies out there — beware.

They arrived 10 minutes early and before they started they did a quick eye ball inventory of what equipment they would need to move me. They spend a lot of time organizing stuff into giant bins and rolled everything into the truck.
Everything was going fine until dropped my couch in the floor and damaged it. I reported the damage and they no longer return my calls nor have they compensated me for the damage. I will not use them again.
