Case Lupe provides tasty Mexican food in an intimate setting. Seating is available both inside and outside the restaurant. Their salsa has flavor with a good amount of heat. Their horchata is made with water instead of milk, but it still tastes great! The grilled chicken burrito is my favorite meal. Great portions to give you a hearty meal. The wait staff is gracious and welcoming. I can’t recommend this place highly enough for great lunch options in the Palo Alto/Los Altos area

I don’t know about other people, but for me, it’s hard to find a really great restaurant in Los Altos. Most of them are decent, but nothing to write home about. There are far better places in the Bay Area if you want a great meal. Casa Lupe is definitely a «what you see is what you get» type restaurant. Their food isn’t exceptional, but it’s satisfactory enough to leave you feeling full. Their menu is extensive, offering an array of enchilada platters, combination dinners, and a la carte entrees. We started off with some chips and salsa(which of course are devoured and then I’m full when dinner arrives). The salsa is nice and spicy and goes perfectly with the crispy tortilla chips. For the main course, I ordered a combo platter with a beef and cheese enchilada, and a side of rice and beans. The enchiladas are smothered in sauce, and the beans have a thick paste consistency. Again, I knew what to expect, and it filled my stomach, so the appearance of the dish didn’t really bother me. Their margaritas are very good though — not too much tequila with just the right amount of salt on the rim.

Service is fast and observant. Atmosphere nice with authentic décor. However — being a Mexican food lover that travels the state eating Mexican dishes often — I have to say I was not impressed with the salsa and guacamole. The salsa had only one dominant taste — tomatillo? And the guac while creamy was void of flavor and any extra ingredients. The biggest thing — they don’t do carnitas!

Our family ate here recently and had a uniformly disappointing experience. The food was just not very tasty — burritos were bland, tostadas were unimpressive and also bland(the«grilled chicken breast» amounted to a few small chopped pieces). My margarita was so sweet and awful, I didn’t come close to finishing it. Service was very slow — we had to ask for refills(and there was only one other family in the restaurant. We could not believe how high the prices were for such a below average meal. Not going back.

We came here for dinner. We started with chips and salsa, which by default we got ‘hot’ salsa. We had to ask for mild; still the salsa was not very good. Their meatball soup was very good although its not served hot — just lukewarm. I had the steak fajita, which came with no sizzle on a iron plate; and the meat was various size cuts of beef scattered on the plate. My wife’s fish taco had way too much batter. Service is not attentive and I couldn’t drink the water — taste like unfiltered tap water. Anyways, probably will not come back here again.

This place is great! I’ve been going here with my family for as long as I can remember. There’s nothing bad here. I’m not typically a fan of coleslaw but the one here is the best. Be sure to ask for it because they’ve started putting salad on the side instead.

Had to leave some love for Casa Lupe as they have been very consistent in their food and service the last several months that I’ve been going. The two or three combination item plate is my favorite. Fajitas are great, and the margaritas are very good. There is a lady who waitresses there fairly often and her service is fantastic. It is very important to me that my order is taken quickly and my water is always full, and they always hit the mark. I recommend Casa Lupe to anyone who enjoys good Mexican food! Also, I’m not personally into this item but several friends really enjoy the tortilla soup here.

Best Mexican food in the area. Very authentic, always fresh, and consistently good. When they are busy it can take a while… but it is always worth it. Yummy sauces, salsas and sangria!

My New Year’s Resolution was to give up writing negative reviews, but I just can’t help myself on this one. This place has a great location, but it pretty much ends there. We should have left when I saw the bathroom stalls — instead of doors there are shower curtains. How is that even health code compliant? Service was bad, chips were just okay, salsa was nice, guac was bland. The rest of the food was pretty mediocre and pricey relative to other restaurants in the area. No Mexican beers on tap. You’re better off a few doors down at Lulu’s or a block over at Fiesta Vallarta.

This is our go-to Mexican place when we are hungry or have guests in town. It is family run and owned. We love their recipes and have been going to there for 20 years. They have al fresco dining when it’s warm. Inside dining is cozy and friendly. The portions are generous and delicious. We are crazy about the coleslaw! It’s always been our favorite part of the meal. We usually ask for extra(and skip the ubiquitous rice.) There is a good variety of drinks — good margaritas, horchata, and free refills on soft drinks and ice tea. We often order one deluxe dinner and split it. It’s usually enough for the two of us plus a doggy bag for my breakfast.

Utterly shocked at the increase in prices. I ate here for years. Great Hostess who worked there for years and wonderful, clean food. I literally was in shock as I read the menu for 5 minutes For the same dish I ate for years… it used to be $ 12.00 for one chicken enchilada verde and a root beer. Including tip up until this visit tonight. tonight…same order with tip.$ 17.00!!! ONE enchilada… NOTTWO and a root beer. now they charge $ 3.50 of you want some of their coleslaw that used to be on every plate and $ 2.50 for sour cream! They used to have great light, airy chips and their complimetary salsa didn’t compare to the one of years past. Just forces the customers of past… to scratch one’s head and realize«.not going to be able to afford to eat there anymore.» It pays to be wealthy. Sorry to the family of the olden days. You were all so sweet. But those price increases ARE idiculous and nothing gradual about $$$$$$$$$$$ 16 – 18 Dollar entrees.

I had coleslaw as part of my dish. I was expecting mexican food, not Colonel Sander’s fried chicken! The one good thing about this place is the tostada shell. It was light and held it’s crispy integrity though out the meal. That is sadly the ONLYTHING i thing that made my meal worthwhile. First of all, I think Mexican food is the go to food because of 1. Flavor and 2. cost. You get a lot of bang out of your buck going for Mexican food. 15 dollars for a burrito? SERIOUSLY? with that price I can get 2 burritos at somewhere much more worthy! We were given one plate of chips to share. It was only the two of us but it didn’t feel like enough. They never asked if we wanted more because they never checked on us. The tostada seriously had coleslaw on it. It was filler, obviously. The inside of my tostada was meh at best. The only flavor I got was sour cream. Sad. The mexican rice was so so so so dry. It was probably made earlier that day and was sitting in a container all day. I usually mix my rice and beans together but this time, i did it to prevent my mouth from drying out. Why would my mouth dry out? Because i had my water filled once the entire time i was there and that was the only time a server came to me after I’ve received my meal. My food partner ordered fajitas with incredibly chewy beef. It was huge chunks for inconvenient fajita making. We had a lot of anticipation for these fajitas because a table next to us got a sizzling hot plate that steamed up the whole room. When we got our plate, it was warm but in no way sizzling. We had a bet on the number of tortillas they’ll provide you. My food partner said industry standards were 4 tortillas. I knew this place would skimp out and bet that there will only be 3 tortillas. When he got his tortillas, he had 2. 2!!! that’s redonkulous! is there a tortilla shortage somewhere? Paying 17 for this plate means I only get to wrap half of it in store bought tortillas? NOT. COOL. And none of the servers came by to offer more. we left out the tortilla container and everything. It wasn’t as though the servers didn’t see us because we were jammed in a corner somewhere, they walked past us frequently to other tables, the door to the bathroom, etc. The service matched the food. = sub par. Instead of paying 50% more of what is typically charged at an authentic and delicious Mexican restaurant, use that money for gas and drive to somewhere decent like San Jose.

I’ve been to a handful of the other Casa Lupe locales. This one is on the main street of downtown Los Altos, but still seems to be a sleepy hidden offbeat find. Very small dual level seating. Got the NY Strip based carne asada which had decent flavors. Enchilada and sauce were tasty. Rice was moist but it and the beans were just ok. Didnt dig on the coleslaw at all. Service is nice and fairly straightforward. It’s not go out of the way seeking cuisine but when you’re in the area, there really arent that many choices for Mexican.

Located in downtown los altos, so street parking only or try n find a spot behind it. Tres colores enchiladas ftw! Super yums! Beef, chicken, and cheese enchilada with rice, coleslaw, and beans. Their lunch specials are a la carte items only, so it’s an additional $ 2.95 to add rice or beans. A plus if you’re ordering a large burrito, but check out the rest of the menu if ordering something small like enchiladas. Service was nice. Outdoor seating was nice. They don’t accept AMEX.

I was hankering Mexican food and was near Downtown Los Altos. Unlucky me, I came upon Casa Lupe. I ordered a combo plate: chile relleno, chicken tamal, it came with rice and refried beans and a runny white something that may have supposed to have been coleslaw. The tamal was very dry and had gravy on it. When I was young my mom bought a canned tamale and fed it to me – Casa Lupe’s tamal tasted _exactly_like that – exactly that bad. The relleno might have been passable had it not been drowned in some sort of even blander grey gravy. The beans were as disappointing as the rest. I had ordered corn tortillas with the meal, those 4 discs were stale and stiff. Even the diet Pepsi had an off flavor as the syrup mixture was way off. The final insult, the bill came to $ 20.10 for this mess. $ 2.50 for a crummy drink and they charged $ 1.50 for the tortillas! Skip this joint. There are many other wonderful spots in Mt View and a couple in Los Altos.

So this place is pretty small, but I came here with a huge group of girls(bachelorette party) and they were great! We were loud and obnoxious, but our waitress and other servers was SUPER nice and did a great job of handling a group of 15. The portions were huge! The sangria and margaritas were tasty and strong! Some things that were ordered: — Nachos — Enchiladas(mole, «California») — Burrito(meat and vegetarian) — Fish tacos(THESEWEREHUGE!) — Flautas — Fajitas I didn’t hear a single complaint from anyone. If anything, I think we were all really impressed and surprised by the huge portions. Again, our waitress was very nice, funny, and accommodating. Overall, a good time and good food.

We dropped in on a weeknight as we sought a new regular place for Mexican food. First impressions were great as we received excellent service and thoroughly enjoyed the Sangria. I would like to rave about my entrée, which was great, but I am going to head back for the Sangria! Did I mention the Sangria?
