I participated in the«Still Life Exhibition» in 2011. Tricia is a great host and I love the intimate studio/gallery space in Echo Park. She holds themed shows throughout the year.

THE +‘s: ahh, so cute! totally cute space! in real estate, they’d call this gallery«cozy»(code for«small») but hey, it’s a photography gallery. intimate setting is perfect for one-on-one photograph introspection. they’ve got a comfy couch so you can sit and chat with new artsy friends and the free food offers are fab — lotsa cheeses, crackers, drinks. i quite like the off-kilter entrance(decorated with lotsa christmas lights w00t) as the gallery’s in the basement of an apartment building. so you gotta hang a right and walk down a few flights of stairs. adds to the funky ambience. the gallery directors(tricia and andrew) come up with great exhibition ideas, from dog photography to urban views to weird stuff you see. i’ve participated in two of the exhibitions thus far and plan to do more. tricia is totally chill to work with and easily accessible via email. if you are accepted into a show, they offer inexpensive printing services. the print quality is pretty damn good for the price. THE -‘s: unfortunately, cute as that off-kilter entrance is, this isn’t a gallery that is readily found since it’s tucked away in a residential-ish area. also, if you arrive late to a show, be prepared to park far away and hoof it to the gallery. SUM: so okay, it’s not the easiest place in the world to find(or park at). on the other hand, i totally love that it’s so professionally and creatively run. they maximize what space they have and hang photographs on every available surface, nook, and cranny. definitely not your average photographs-hanging-on-a-white-wall standard. they’ve got photos hanging next to the kitchnette sink! good times.
