This place, at first impression, has almost everything that I try to avoid. Difficult to find, very small parking lot, questionable entrance. In fact, the first time I went here, I thought I was prepared with the address on Melrose. Drove by several times, walked around a bit. Fortunately I found a familiar face, who directed me to the alley where the entrance to the club is. Still couldn’t find it! I can see a trash bin? Look for the small green door, that’s it. Down a cement stairway to a counter, ticket area where you check in. The place looks like it used to be an automotive repair garage, the entry bay is now closed off, and the employee entry is now the club main entrance. Floor still looks rough, random seating is placed along the side walls, music memorabilia is placed all over. It is an all-ages place that sells only soft drinks. Hollywood, and those are reasonably priced?! Nice! I have seen some pretty good performances here. The sound is good, considering the abundant cement. I guess the only negative I experienced is that the room can get a bit warm. So, from starting out as a place that looked like nobody would want to go to, it’s actually pretty good. To the owner, nice job!

Its a small venue. Very Hot. They need some sort of ventilation. The bands tonight were awesome though! Had lots of fun despite the heat!

This place has potential. Great for under 21 to enjoy the venues w/o alcohols. As far as me being over 21… It’s really not a big deal of needing/wanting alcohols lol. It can be a bit claustrophobic to some people… but it goes away once you focus on the bands playing on the stage. The entrance is in the alley lol. Just look for a crowd outside the entrance. Great atmosphere for band gigs n so forth.

I agree with Terin C! I’m guessing the other reviewers were under 21 and super stoked to be allowed to party like adults hahaha But I really I wish they had beer or liquor, I know that the owner is under 21 but the patrons aren’t! I do commend her on having her own place at such a young age and wish her the best of luck with it all but I don’t see myself returning :(unless that is, I’m coaxed out there by the promise of greek fries from astro burger(btw they were super nice to me) SO funny that someone else noticed the Lindsay Lohan poster, though I loved it and it would’ve been super-quirky & eccentric(which i love) if there was a bunch more shit on the walls. I think it has potential, but she needs to look a little more into details, like a mirror on the restroom wall big enough to fix your hair in! I was sooooo overdressed too, and seriously had chicks & dudes in sweatshirts and jeans looking at me like I was a hooker because I was wearing heels and a dress — which made me not want to stay in there. Also I’m a lazy bitch that loves to lounge so I was excited that there were couches around. Only problem is the sweatshirt-wearing-pre-adults were all over them and were shooting daggers when they noticed me looking at the 1 or 2 empty spots. Like I said in the beginning, things would be better if there was some whiskey on hand. I would’ve been to faded to notice or care about any of the minor details that stuck out to me because of my sober state.

I feel, on the whole, like a bad person when I come to give a less than glowing review about a place that everyone else has given five stars. I briefly thought about just giving it five stars and then giving it my honest review, but I’d rather just give the 3 stars and tell you why. This place wasn’t that bad. Join me for a moment, and I’ll explain how it wasn’t really great either. Firstly, there’s no ventilation. I can see how coming here to see a comedy act, when everyone is seated and being quiet, could probably be pretty cool. I don’t know if they do that here, but I think it’d be nifty… But full blown musical acts? No, see… people like to breathe. At least I do. I very much enjoy air; always have. If you get too close to the stage here, it’s quite terrifying when people start to fill in behind you. I might liken it to being in a tunnel when the ceiling starts to cave in behind you, or I might just say I like to maintain a bubble of personal space that only my boyfriend is allowed to invade with any sort of frequency. Either way, this venue was uncomfortable. It probably wouldn’t be so bad during the winter, but I’ve been here twice during the peak of California-is-on-fire season(otherwise known as summer), and the heat was almost unbearable. I had to come up for air a few times. Also, and this has to be said, the sound isn’t awesome. You can hear the band just fine, but the singers are lost in a haze of lights and music. When I went to see my cousin’s band, I could hear her just often enough to know that she was talented, but I couldn’t make out any lyrics at all. The light show was pretty, though. That was interesting… but it was a concert. Sound kind of matters. In addition, I have a comment as to the décor. They have Lindsay Lohen’s album on the wall. It joins many other irrelevant pop albums, and I’m left wondering who thought this would be a good idea. When I’m there listening to a rock band, those albums kind of take away some credibility. I don’t have any suggestions for what should be up there instead, though, so this is just nitpicking. Maybe it lends a sort of irony to the place that is, all things considered, pretty humorous. You know what, though? They sell water and soda. That’s pretty damned nice of them when they could just say«there’s water at Astro Burger. Deal with it.» They will also provide you with earplugs for a nominal fee if you would prefer to save yourself from the ringing ears on the car ride home. So, I wouldn’t expressly avoid this place. It was okay, but could be better. That’s just my opinion, however, so you can go on ignoring me like everyone has my whole life. Thanks for that, high school.

I love this place. Sure it’s small but it gets the job done. The guy working there is really helpful and nice. Cool lights, nice stage, I’m liking it here. The only bad thing is the people from AstroBurger are rude as hell!

went there once, not going again. while this could be a cool little venue, it seems like it is really just a room set aside for the«owner» to have her band play whenever she wants. there are music awards on the walls that made me cringe — I want to see bands, not be shown how«cool» someone’s dad is or whatever. the show I went to was $ 12, which is pricey for unknown bands in an unknown location. the reviewer who said that their show ran on time was extremely lucky. the show I went to ran late by, oh an hour or so. it literally took one band 45 minutes(which was probably supposed to be the length of their set) to just set up on stage. any other venue would never have allowed this.(note to drummers: have your kit ready, don’t start setting up your hardware onstage.) I wish this place was better because all ages venues keep getting shut down in L.A. and I believe that kids should have places to go and enjoy live music. this, however, is not filling that void.

OK, So this place is AWESOME!!! From the outside it doesn’t look like much(alleyway…parking spots… green door). Inside, down some steps it’s a decent sized room with throw pillows, a couch, and about ten or so chairs all facing a stage. When I first got there for the Rocketz show I was initially wondering how good the show was going to be, but this place blew me away. Acoustics are great, owner/worker/girl taking tickets whoever she was was awesome and kind. Seats(throw pillows included) were comfortable. The show was perfect, ran on time(unlike some of the bigger fancier venues), and the atmosphere was chill and relaxing(like…chill next to singer of favorite band and meet some new people = awesomeness!) Love this place! For ten bucks I had an amazing night. Hopefully they can bring more psychobilly shows to this place and if you have a band check it out! This venue is a gem!

Awesome, relatively new venue and very easy to work with. The owners are very kind people who clearly care about music and putting on an engaging show. When you book, they will work with you on the financial details of the show and their split is very fair. For an all ages venue in Los Angeles, that’s rare to find, so this place is a gem. The location is a little hard to find(entrance is located in an alley behind Astroburger), but, I think, with word of mouth, the place will become more well-known. I can imagine that parking may be an issue, as it appears pretty limited, other than street parking. As far as venue experience, though, Amplyfi deserves 5 stars. The sound system is well-maintained and the venue itself is a cozy room that is populated by all kinds of interesting décor. Bands are given water and a thorough sound check. Amplyfi also works with bands to ensure that shows are promoted well, which is sometimes a rarity for venues in Los Angeles. For bands looking for an all ages gig in La, Amplyfi is a standout, since they’ll often accept first-time bands who have never played the venue before. I’d highly recommend checking it out.

It’s bigger than it looks from the outside. Owners are cool. Great venue for bands looking to rock or to see some of the local underground scene
