My favorite pizza in L.A. is the Mayor’s Mistress from Apollonia’s. If you’re craving thin crust and that perfect blend of fresh herbs, cheeses, and meat, look no further. These people know what they’re doing with their pizza. And trust me… I know pizza. I’m really bad at writing descriptive reviews, but I just needed to get my 5 stars in there because I eat here as often as conspicuously possible.

Everyone I know who has tried this place loves it. They serve great food with quality ingredients. My go to delivery order is the 20 inch Mayor’s Mistress pizza(4 stars). I love the meaty toppings(pepperoni and sausage). The fresh tomatoes are juicy, and the chiffonade basil covers every square inch. It also has fresh garlic on top. The crust has a nice crunch and chew. The slices are big. If I have leftovers, I eat them the next day or freeze it for a later pizza craving. If my fiancé and I are really hungry, we also order the Sycamores(4 stars), which are baked hot wings. They are very meaty and covered with the right amount of sauce. Both sauces offered, spicy and BBQ, are good. They’re always nice on the phone when I order, and they end call with«Cioa!» It’s about 1 hour for delivery. The wings take a half hour to bake, which you should note if you dine in or plan a delivery.

A fellow Unilocaler proclaimed this spot to be their favorite in all of LA, so I had to try! This unassuming spot in mid city already scored points for having its own parking lot– a treasured find in this area, abundant with parking meters and park and pay lots. We headed there early on a Saturday morning, so we could get a jump start on our weekend and beat the crowds and traffic. This pizza spot isn’t huge, but nice simple seating with ample drink choices(all bottled.) We settled on the Mayors Mistress pizza– pepperoni, sausage and herbs over a perfectly thin NY style crispy crust. Two slices in and I was full. Service was good, the server rushed to get takeout boxes when he saw we were done. Took the rest of my half home, reheated in the toaster oven and enjoyed it just as much when I had it fresh from the oven. It’s not cheap — like, NYC pizza slice dollar cheese cheap — but I don’t have NYC pizza every day and this does the job without me having to fly to NYC.

This place makes amazing pizza. The plain cheese here is very good by itself but where this place really shines is the toppings on their specialty pies. The eastside classic(jalapeño, grass fed bacon, red onion, garlic, pepperoni, and organic basil) and mayors mistress(rightly flagged by many other reviews) are my favorites. The toppings and produce they use are extremely fresh and of high quality.

Great pizza. Nice thin and crispy, not a huge amount of toppings but it doesn’t need it. Just remember if your ordering for delivery ask for peppers and cheese when you order. Don’t understand all the complaints about delivery charges, it’s delivery and it’s LA. Don’t know many pizza places anywhere that delivers for free. And if you live so close that your literally a block away, walk your fat ass to pick it up.

Called for a plain ‘ol cheese pizza. Either they mistakenly put their arrabbiata sauce on it or a stray ingredient landed in the regular sauce, because that shit had our tongues on fire all night. Solid crust, though.

Came here last night with my boyfriend after we walked to Jin-Ya and didn’t feel like waiting in line. Apollonia’s was empty and two doors down, so we just gave it a shot. We might as well had stayed in line. Our«two-minute» cheese and pepperoni slices took thirty minutes to come out. Ok, this would have been fine and dandy if it was Vito caliber of pizza. Or even Pizzanista caliber of pizza. But no, I could have literally thrown the slice on the tile floor and it would have broken in two pieces. The crust was so hard! It was like eating a tile! The girl next to us was having a hard time eating the pizza too! AND four slices, a salad and two sodas came out to $ 35. For just $ 5 more, I could have gotten unlimited soda at Vito’s, baked ziti, four slices and pizza parlor style salads. And the pizza there is amazing — closest thing to New York pizza you will get in LA. Duh. Two stars because even though the meal sucked the guys working there were nice. Oh, I forgot. They were blasting music in there. I really dislike going to places to eat where I can’t hear the people I’m with. It’s really annoying. If I wanted that, I would have gone to a bar or club. Music in restaurants should be background music. Main focus should be food and company.

I ordered 2 gluten-free crusted pizzas the other day over the phone. I would have to say they are by far the best gluten– free pizzas I have ever had in my life! Only downside was they only offer personal sized(small) pizzas with gluten-free crust. Overall they were prompt on delivery and pizza tastes goooood. A little pricey at $ 15/pizza but still damn good. Thanks guys!

With its thin, crisp, crust; sauce full of flavor, and mozzarella goodness the Mistress Pizza had us coming back for more. Ergo she was rightfully named. To go with our sinful escapade we paired the pizza with nothing other than an order of Sycamore wings, which were hot, juicy, and full of flavor! If your visiting the LACMA, do yourself a favor. Skip the overpriced food trucks and take Wilshire up 2 blocks and bless yourself with a slice of Apollonia Heaven!

Overall, the pizza is 3.7. But, pricing drops it down to 3. This was the next stop after checking out Republique. Location: Hancock Park area of LA. Parking: Small shared strip mall parking lot. Service: Friendly owner He mentioned that he was born in LA and learned how to make pizza in East LA. Not sure if he meant East LA or the eastern part of LA. Payment is completed when they bring out your pizza pie. IMO, I typically judge pizzas by their cheeza pizza, how they taste the next day(aka cold or re-heated), and the aftermath to my stomach(tmi). My gripe about this place is based on pricing. We were charged for a 20 inch Mayor’s Mistress. But, we got a half cheese(based on my typical order) and half Mayor’s Mistress. It would have been nicer if they informed their customers. Normally, most pizza places just add to the price of a cheese pizza. Food: Mayor’s Mistress — pepperoni, Italian sausage, organic roma tomatoes, garlic, and fresh organic basil. Rating 3.7 out of 5. $ 27.95 + tax and tip. Overall, this is one pricey, pleasant pizza.

Love the staff and the pizza. I’m a San Francisco native/so.cal transplant/food whore ;) fantastic flavor and great crust. Looking for comfort food after a rough day and was greeted by the entire staff. So ooooo nice to see a smiling/friendly face with fantastic food. Thank you for cheering up my day! I’ll be back to grub on the rest of the menu :)

Hey yo Vinnie, let’s get a slice. That’s kinda what rings in my ears when Roland L invites me to have pizza pie with him! Thin crust is the O.G. style originating all the way back to Naples(not Long Beach yo!) Italy. Thin, crunchy, chewy lightly seasoned crust has lived for well over 100 years as the humble pie made its way over the pond to NYC where thin is king! Apollonia’s is quite inventive in their pies, giving you some really great combinations of ingredients and flavors. Their crust is always crunchy, chewy and flavorful. I have had almost every single pizza, wings and salads they have to offer and I have never been disappointed at all! I highly recommend that you eat there and ditch takeout and delivery unless you tackle that pie right away. So, if you want to go O.G. with creative toppings that equate to delicious pizza, then you need to make your way here to Apollonia’s which in my opinion, is the Best pizza in Los Angeles…“nuff said…

Tonight I ordered a medium pepperoni pizza, and it wasn’t that great, it wasn’t horrible though. I personally think for the quality it was over priced. I usually don’t order pizza, but I was so hungry, and costco is closed. Costco pizza is still my #1!

Unfortunately, I am no longer a fan of this place. The last five pizzas have sucked! First of all, I live within walking distance to this place yet EVERY time my pizza is delivered, it is cold! I used to be ok with that and just knew I would need to heat it up. However, I’m over it! If I’m paying 27.00 plus tip for a pizza with onion and peppers, I want it hot! Next, they are now over cooking the pizza, every time. The crust is so hard you can chip a tooth, no joke. I like my pizza with minimal sauce. I don’t want the cheese to be orange from so much sauce, I want it to be white, like mozzarella should be. Every time I ask for very, very light sauce yet there is still a glob of sauce all around the crust… gross. The last time I ordered I nicely asked the order taker to please emphasize that I like very minimal sauce. He was very snippy and said he already underlined it and was going to tell the pizza maker as well. Well sure enough, I got my cold, overcooked, heavily sauced pizza an hour later. It looked more like light cheese extra sauce. I’m done.

Went there for a full on dinner. Started out with a couple of sodas. They have a very eclectic mix of small brand sodas that are terriffic. I’d love to go back every day until I tried them all! I had Jamaica’s Finest XXX Hot ginger beer. They weren’t kidding. It’s indeed XXX hot! If you like super hot ginger, go for it, if not, go for regular ginger ale, they have that too. We also had a butterscotch root beer. Didn’t even know there was such a thing, but there is, and it’s pretty dang tasty! For a salad we had the tomato medley and fresh mozzarella salad. See pic. It’s as good as it looks. Sheer delight. For pizza, we kept it simple. 20 inch Canadian bacon, pineapple and bacon. It’s super thin NY style. Loved it… especially that its’ not too cheesy. You can taste all the ingredients, and you don’t feel gross after eating it. They have a great selection of pizzas, including some with exotic toppings. These are premium pizzas all the way. By the way, the 20 inch pizza is freankin’ huge! It would easlly feed four big eaters and six people who just want a couple slices. I couldn’t even finish two slices, but I split a salad and had a couple chicken wings before I ate the pizza. We also had some chicken wings. We had the barbecue chicken wings. They were spiced just right. They were so good, they would have been just as tasty without the bbq sauce. FYI, it takes 30 minutes to make them, so make sure you order them as soon as you get there. Yes, there are lower priced pizza places around, but not with the artisan style of pizza you get here. Give it a try. They have take out, but it’s a really nice place to sit down and have dinner. Plenty of parking right in front, which is a real plus and a rarity in the Mid-Wilshire area.

Super-duper pizzas with a strong emphasis on sausage and pepper toppings. Best of them is the«Venustiano» which has spicy arrabiata sauce, garlic, organic grape tomato, thick basil, and of course, sausage. This place is for«Pitfire» style lovers with bigger mouths. Love the import fizz drinks(no beer /alcohol), and I’ve never been a fan, but the«Sycamore Hot Wings» are crazy get your blush on fantastic. «Apollonia’s» is under the radar, if you’re a pizza piggin’ maniac then crash this place tonight. #catchingfire
