Great view, great décor, very old style setting, something like out of the 60s era. However don’t get the Bloody Mary, it’s premixed and the mix sucks :( Mix drinks are about $ 12 bucks a pop. There is not a lot of room on the roof so if you have a party larger than 6 or even 4 be prepared to stand.

Went with a group of 10. Great atmosphere and live music. Only problem I had was that the drink prices seemed to change every time we ordered. Inconsistent pricing from bartenders! Other than that the place was very fun.

Bar 13 is currently being used as private event space for PERCHLA. This venue is amazing and looks like something out of the Great Gatsby!

My friend hosted her graduation party here recently for a party of about thirty. I think the bar is only open to private parties. It’s nicely decorated w/it’s own private bar and plenty of space for at least 50 people. She had a hosted open bar for two hours(whoo hoo), but when I asked the bartender for their regular Perch drinking menu, she said they didn’t have any. However, she had someone run upstairs to the main bar to grab champagne so she could make one of my favorite Perch drinks, the Writer’s Block. The staff were seriously(surprisingly) nice. Even though our open bar was supposed to end at 6, the bartenders kept mixing drinks until after 6:30 p.m. so my friend could reach her bar tab and even allowed us to take a tray of drinks upstairs! The passed hors d’oeuvres were really good, too, especially the filet mignon puff pastry. I ate like five of those. She also had mini crab cakes and raw salmon. The servers were very nice and accommodating as well. The charcuterie table included a variety of meats, fancy breadsticks/crackers, dried fruit, and hummus — fancy looking. Wish I had taken a picture. Afterwards, we took our party upstairs, where it was already getting crowded around 7 p.m. I had a lovely time at Bar Thirteen though. I don’t think it’s cheap to reserve the area, though, as she spent a few thousand, but I’d def recommend it for mid-size private parties.

Came here on a Wednesday night to celebrate a friends birthday. Its a tad bit to dark for my liking. Our waitress was really nice. Nice little place to unwind. Food selection is limited. A bit pricey. Must try the crème brûlée. Its super delicious!!! Plenty of parking. I parked in a lot on 4th& Hill for $ 5.

It was a Wednesday. We wanted to celebrate my friend’s birthday during happy hour at the rooftop bar, but it was closed for a private event. =(We entered the small foyer that leads you to the elevators, and takes you up to the 13th floor. and led us to the small bar«Bar Thirteen» which was open, but with no happy hour and not the same food as offered at the upstairs bar. Oh well, good thing the bar made up with its plush chic décor and matching amazing views of downtown L.A. Here are my highlights. *Our waitress was amazing, super sweet and attentive * The food was okay but overpriced *The drinks were reasonably priced, about 8 – 9 bucks for wine *No happy hour here *People are dressed classy, think urban chic, and guys in suits, or at least slacks *Great place for an intimate date I can’t wait to go back and try the rooftop bar, especially the truffle mac n’cheese everyone raves about in the reviews… when I do I shall Unilocal, once more…

NOTOPEN til June! Just a heads-up to those who want to check this place out– we tried to go last friday and the staff said it won’t be open for at least another month. The fact that it has reviews already are a bit misleading…

Wow, did the developers who run Perch score a good deal or what! «Sir, how many floors would you like in this historic and beautiful building in Downtown Los Angeles?» «I will take only the important ones with amazing views — 13, 15&16. 14 is for pussies — especially because if there is no floor 13, you know what floor you are really on.» So Bar Thirteen opened just about a month ago and is Perch’s lower rent tenant two floors below. Both places carry a French theme which is more prominent in the music than the décor, but we won’t be too picky. While Perch boasts fantastic views and lounge areas, Bar Thirteen is the speakeasy caberet venue of the bunch. Very dimly lit, the space is a little small but cozy with ample sitting room. We were there on a Friday night and made it just in time for the Visages d’Amour show. First impression: Very nice, and the gentlemen that greet you at the elevator and the entrance are very sweet and helpful Entertainment: The website touts things like an open mic night and burlesque every other Friday. However the calendar has not been updated on the website in about a month so I’m not sure what happens here during the week. The burlesque show really isn’t burlesque in it’s true form — no titties or tassles to be seen here… instead more of a caberet dance like the kind I do when I get out of the shower. I think t hey want it to become like a Lucent Dossier experience but it’s not really there yet. FYI apparently the show costs 10 dollars, we walked in 1 act in and did not pay. Drinks: Most of the same offerings as Perch, but a few different. Try the French Manhattan, muddled with blackberry — fantastic! Also the Frenchtini is delish too. As per DTLA standard, drinks will run you 10 – 12 dollars Ambience: Very cozy and warm inside, great for conversations… but that could be because the place cleared out after the show. This was nice at first but then a little sad as we were the last ones left at around midnight. Hoping this place can pick up steam as more people find out about it. Overall I give this place 3 stars because it’s just not there yet. It has a lot of potential for sure, and it will be interesting to see where it goes from here. Perhaps more advertising and signage will drive the elevator travelers to peek in on their way to floor 15.
