If you are looking for a fun and energetic and vibrant place to have dinner this is the place. The food is delicious and the extravagant plates are all picture worthy. Highly recommended RibEye, and the CottonCandy Martini. Enjoy :)

The food is way too expensive for the quality of food they serve. They serve everything with a ginormous presentation and you pay for basically just that. I split the bill with a large party and asked to charge $ 70 on my card. The server came back saying she made a mistake but ended up fixing the problem. I signed the receipt and left, but found a charge on my card the next morning for $ 270!!! I keep trying to contact the restaurant but could only leave a message. This place is not worth the headache. Now I have to waste my time on getting my money back and on this Unilocal review!

I think this place is overly priced. The food was 5 stars, but the portions were small for the price paid. I get the fact that you’re also paying for the presentation of the food but come on! I took my husband and mom for both they’re birthdays and although we went on a Monday night, I felt like our server was in a way rushing us. I also felt we hardly got any attention from him until he came around with the check. We were seating in dark corner that really didn’t allow us get the full experience of the«food presentation.» We constantly had to take our phone’s out so we can shine light on the food and see what exactly we had on the table. I have no complaints of the food… I personally had wagyu steak, but for $ 77 paid I was expecting to get a bit more than just 5 small pieces. None the less, it was amazing, but not worth a $ 300 bill for three people. Probably will not recommend this place.

LA is filled with great restaurants but the combination of great food, outstanding service and an amazing atmosphere are rare. But Barton G seems to do it all! I recently was back to try out the new menu that they started a week or so ago and everything was delicious. The signature drinks are my favorite I like the Zen-Tini it’s raspberry vodka, triple sec fresh raspberries with a vodka popsicle guaranteed to get you feeling good! I started out with some of my favorite appetizers including the voodoo shrimp. It’s served in a vase with dry ice and it comes out smokin’. I also love the Bartons chop salad it’s got candied pecans with a caramel apple cider vinegar it’s amazing. They have a new appetizer called holy smokes popcorn it’s bacon and white truffle popcorn with black truffles, Parmesan cheese and herbs. it’s served in a lantern and when they open it smoke comes out it’s like theater with food! I also tried the Polynesian fish fry which is snapper, coconut jasmine rice coconut spicy vegetable pineapple slaw it was so good! There is no better place in Los Angeles to go with friends and a special thank you to Jeffrey, Melissa and Horst for always making the evening unforgettable!

Such a fun dining experience! Every dish had an interesting and unique display. The food also lived up to its presentation! Their complimentary bread comes out looking like cute donuts. Don’t be fooled, they aren’t sweet at all. In fact, one was mushroom and the other was cheese! What we ordered: — Lobster Pop tart — Comes in a cute pink toaster. Pricey but filled with such cheesy lobster goodness. — Brussel Sprouts — Average — The Great American Steak(Ribeye) — So juicy and BIG. Comes with a giant fork and knife display, bone marrow herb butter, truffle fries, carrots, and some sort of sauce on the side. The sauce was good but I preferred my steak without it. They say a good steak doesn’t need sauce right? ;) I would recommend this place if you’re looking for something fun and unique. The food is great but I feel like you can find something more affordable that is equally as good sans the cost of cool presentations.

Oh boy– not the best experience here with the food & stuffiness. Showed up at 7:30 but it was packed so we came back pretty late to eat at like 10:30, but by that time I wasn’t starving anymore but wanted to try this place! Yes I know this place is all about the presentation, but they also need to make sure for the price, the food tastes just as good! The presentation is huge, and depending on the table, you can definitely be overwhelmed to say the least. Lobster Pop Tarts(4 stars) — This was actually pretty good, I mean def don’t mess up a puff pastry! Wish it was more crispy but the flavor was on point. Popcorn Shrimp(2 stars) — Mediocre at best, the sauce helped but def not memorable in terms of flavor. presentation was of course very cool. G Fries Quartet(3 stars) — OK. I mean they’re french fries, sauces were decent. Mac n Cheese(1 stars) — OK, this was horrible we sent it back, kraft mac n cheese tastes better than this, it wasn’t even fully warm and just tasted like plastic or something. Wish I tried some entrees, but like I said wasn’t super hungry by that time but still for what we ordered, only really liked one thing. I doubt I’ll be back here, the taste of food will always outweigh any presentation to me. It’s both equal parts that put it over the top, and this place was definitely not it. I’ve been to some of the top places around LA and this place has presentation & that’s about it.

I started noticed Barton G Restaurant pop up randomly on people’s Instagram and was immediately intrigued by the beautiful cotton candy haired lady and the abnormally large forks and spoons. Happily I was able to celebrate my birthday with a bunch of leading ladies in my life this past weekend. I agree with the rest of the Unilocalers and say that the food truly was just okay– esp for a vegetarian like myself. I wished number one they had more options for my than just salad and pizza?! Even that was just whatever, I enjoyed the Fries the most but that shouldn’t be it for a fine establishment as this. For my meat eating friends(the rest of my group) All thought the same for the food but throughly intrigued by the amazingly contraptions that were brought out. I wished we weren’t so hungover or we would of all been able to try a different type of drink here, as i noticed some people had their drinks in heels or on top of a bird. Presentation was def exceptional and really keeps your eyes wandering everywhere.

On paper, Barton G sounds like a grandstand of fascinating displays of cuisine, and is indeed strong in those regards. However, the manifestation of these dishes halt after mere entertainment value, and only provide a mediocre quality of fare. I kept thinking after seeing the damage, «man, guests here must hate money» and to reiterate, it is true, you will paying an arm and a leg for sub-par food. Now to back my claim: Drinks — : Cotton Candy Cocktail(not on menu, per request) — Failed show, our server had to double back with a separate cup of nitrogen. Sweet and lacking alcohol. : Sabrinatini(18) — This was a decent martini that came with orange vodka and a champagne Popsicle. This is one thing I enjoyed throughout the night. Food — : Laughing Bird Popcorn Shrimp(21) — The breading was soggy and the shrimp was greasy and cold. The popcorn it came with was okay, nothing special. : Lobster Pop Tarts(26) — I didn’t enjoy this as much as I hoped I would. The lobster was overpowered and almost non-existant. The phylio pastry was quite stale/starchy although the outer shell was flaky. It almost reminded me of a thin pâté chaud filled with mayonnaise. : Mouse Trap Mac N Cheese(19) — Uninspiring and basic. You essentially pay 19 for a normal batch of mac n cheese, but on a wacky plate. : The Great American Steak(ribeye)(54) — There was absolutely nothing special about this steak, other than again, the plating. 16oz for $ 54 is a steep price to pay. The herb butter marrow it came with had no marrow taste, at all. Quite disappointing. Dessert — : Marie Antoinette’s Head — Let Them Eat Cake — Pure presentation points. Cotton candy on a MA-mannequin’s head. The cake it came with was a little dry but passable when paired with the raspberry and strawberry cream cheese on the side. I did however enjoyed the fresh berries. Street parking(metered) can be found around surrounded by plenty of parking rules or you can valet(was $ 8 on a Monday night). I will quote my friend Ben L as our sentiments regarding this restaurant are analogous«I essentially paid $ 65 for food I could’ve gotten at Chuck E Cheese or Denny’s.» If you like paying big bucks to see your popcorn shrimp served in a popcorn machine, or a giant fork served with your steak, or mac n cheese in a mouse trap, you will enjoy Barton G. Otherwise, save the cash, skip on this place, see an actual show and find a better location to feast. The only other upside was our server, Oliver, who was quite refined and cordial the entire time. I’m shaking my head in disappointment at you Barton G.

Barton G provokes a debate in my mind: substance versus show. I prefer substance. I just enjoyed Bashan’s delicious 7 course tasting menu. I paid $ 85 and was wowed by fine dining presentation and flavors. A variety of savory courses tickled my palate and satisfied my appetite. On the other hand, there’s Barton G. I’m in the camp that believes Barton G is outrageous. It’s all show with no substance. I essentially paid $ 65 for food I could’ve gotten at Chuck E Cheese or Denny’s, the only difference being the over-the-top presentations. The huge oversized fork, popcorn machine, and mouse trap are cute and interesting — that is, until the bill arrives. Our server, Oliver, was 5 stars. He was polite, proper, and thorough. The rating is based on the overpriced food that delivers only in one category: presentation. I had a great time catching up with friends, but the food really let me down. The popcorn shrimp was really forgettable — $ 21 for some mediocre tasting shrimp. The mac n cheese was standard as far as mac n cheese goes, but overpriced as well($ 19). The ribeye was ok, but definitely not worth $ 54 for an average tasting 16oz. The pricing here is nearing the Mastro’s range, but the quality is significantly lower. If you’ve seen the pictures on Unilocal, then you’ve already experienced Barton G.

Barton G, the place that anyone and everyone raves about! So who wouldn’t want to try out one of the hottest restaurants in la!?! Besides there’s nothing I love more than a fancy dinner. My coworker decided to celebrate her birthday on a Sunday evening at Barton G. Reservations were made for 7pm I arrived around 6:30 mostly due to parking. I lucked out and parked on the street valet seemed a little tight. I arrived along with a few other guests in my party although they do not seat you until everyone is present. Once everyone arrived we were seated which can be a little uncomfortable as its a smaller space. With all the elaborate dishes it can feel like you’re bumping elbows with the person next to you. Anyway on to the menu. The menu is smaller and somewhat limited. For my drink I ordered the Moscow mule it was made to perfection. I like a lot of ginger and they did not fail when it came to the ginger. For my entrée I went with the lobster Mac n cheese. It was mouth watering and delicious. Every thing I could’ve imagined. Overall it was a pretty good experience my only real gripe is the limited space.
