Called up Ben to get my piano tuned fast (I waited far too long to get this done and then needed it done quickly for entertainment for a party). He was able to accommodate the next day. YAY!
Ben said he would get to my house at 10am and he arrived exactly at 10am. Awesome.
Ben was friendly and worked diligently for over an hour.
And how does the piano sound?
Asked my son if he thought it was better? He replied, «Its SIGNIFICANTLY better!»

Ben seemed very knowledgeable, telling me the approximate age and make of my upright piano. He had plenty of stories and advice which were helpful, and went the extra mile to repair a clunky key and clean the piano. I’ll politely call myself a light piano user, so I only played a few chords before he left and everything sounded fine. Probably 10 minutes later I decided to try octaves and the tuning was a bit off in the lower range. Can’t discredit his effort since I didn’t play in front of him, but it’s notable nonetheless. Not sure the last time the piano was tuned, so the tension may have changed.

Ben Gaffin is an outstanding piano technician. He has kept my Steinway upright in excellent condition for 15 years. Many people in the biz use him, too. He always arrives on time (that’s a huge bonus). Ben’s prices are very reasonable. Whenever a pianist sits down at my piano, they are always pleased at its full sound. Since I live on the beach in Malibu, it is a challenge to keep it in tune but Ben does the job every time. I can’t say enough good things about him.

Ben Gaffin is a master tuner technician, trained by the best and able to trouble shoot and repair ANY problem you have on ANY piano. If your piano is not worth repairing, he will tell you so honestly. His rates are fair and his work is tops. I am a concert pianist and teacher, with extensive European training, and I have used Ben for over 30 years and recommended him to all my clients. To a person they have all been very satisfied and continued to use him with great satisfaction. I cannot recommend him highly enough.
