I left Pantages Hollywood after watching Wicked and wanted to find a good place to eat and chill out. I guess I’m no more at the age of going to bars and partying all night so I kept walking by all the bars/clubs on Hollywood street. I felt old as seeing people queuing up in the wait line. Found this place on Unilocal and it was close to my parking lot. So I gave it a try. I ordered rindswurdt and 2 jars of beer. Btw, the dark Kostritzer was mine. The beer was good; the food was yum. And I felt in love with the hipster ambience. Music was upbeat. You could drink, chill out, and talk at normal tone. No yelling, no body language. Again, I felt old to party in clubs down the street. So this place was perfect for me. :) Will definitely come back here when I visit Hollywood.

Bratwurst with curry is quite good, but I’m tired of them consistently being out of Paprikawurst. The curry sauce is a little too sweet for me(even the spicier kind) but the bratwurst sausage is a-ok. Rosemary garlic fries are great, but they just need a little less salt and a little more garlic. Ketchup is a must; mayo isn’t. For better sausages, try the underrated CURRYWURST on Fairfax!

If you think changing the spelling of a thing changes the thing, you’ll love this place! If, however, you think a sliced hot dog in ketchup(with paprika, that’s the big twist!) with stale white bread is defined by taste and not hipster German naming, then swing by Ralph’s, grab an Oscar Meyer and spare yourself a defiling half hour of pretension.

When I first saw various Berlin Currywurst locations popping up throughout Los Angeles, I didn’t get it. Sliced up hot-dogs, with what looks like a pile of ketchup didn’t really appeal to me. Now I get it… And I’m a pretty big fan. First off, there is actually a lot of variety in their sausages, such as pork, veal, chicken, beef, and vegetarian options. Secondly, the sauce has HEAT, like real spice and flavor, and I have a pretty high-tolerance for spice level, but I can definitely break a sweat here. Furthermore, there are some surprisingly good sides here too. The beet salad is great and the fries are done well. I’m actually impressed with the German authenticity of many of their dishes. I can finally see why currywurst is building up a following out here in the States. Service is no frills, but accommodating, which is nice for a quick dining experience. The décor and beer garden /patio are welcoming, especially for small groups. I’m certain the beer here is obviously top-knotch, if you feel like drinking. Parking is a bit of a bummer here. It’s a small lot and the charge is 3 dollars. Not terrible, but street parking is practically nonexistent in this neighborhood, so you’ll probably have to accept the fee, if you plan on driving.

I was walking home from the farmers market in this very sunny and hot Sunday and I decided to stop by here for a good German brew. I am very sad to have not discovered this place sooner, I always walk by yet I had noticed it until today. Very chill and quiet during the day but it looks like it would be happening at night. Sad day though because I just learned they they will be closing this location in a couple of months. But the Sunset and DTLA locations still remain. Make sure to pay them a visit.

Loved it. Drinks and perfect foods to accompany them — can’t beat that! Had the paprikawurst with chipotle at the level 3 of spiceness. It went so good with the beer we drank and we ordered the rosemary garlic fritten on the second round. Man, they were addicting! I“ll frequent this place for sure!

I’ve never been a huge fan of wursts, but I’m always game when people suggest it. We went here on a cold and rainy night, so we couldn’t take advantage of the lovely outdoor patio. No problem though, because the inside was perfect with its long communal table and holiday décor. The menu is pretty much sausage after sausage, with a couple of fries and salads thrown in. I had the vegan bratwurst, which was sundried tomato based. It was delicious, with just enough spice. The only thing that bothered me was the parking. When I first pulled up to their lot, the staff told me I could park there, no problem. Halfway through our meal, a valet stand set up shop and the valet guy went inside to ask about my car. When I let him know it was mine, he said I had to give him my keys. Uhhh… say what? I parked my own car… why the hell would I need to give you my keys?! He ended up taking my keys, then forcing me to pay when I came out after our meal. And THIS is why I hate parking in Hollywood. It’s enough of an inconvenience that I would rather go to the Silverlake location in the future.

I’m a big fan of the original Berlin Currywurst in Silver Lake, and was more than pleased with my experience at the Hollywood location. I walked over with a big group after a Friday evening movie at the ArcLight, and the place was really calm and pleasant. We had a reservation for a table in the biergarten, but it turned out we didn’t even need it. The space, which was calm and lovely and wonderful, was more than half empty. I guess everyone in Hollywood was busy going to terrible places that night. I think this is true every night in Hollywood. We were a large group, and there was no table service, but everything went pretty smoothly. We lined up and ordered at the counter, picked up beers right there and got our food delivered to our table. Service was friendly and the food came out quickly. I never got the fries I ordered and paid for, but when I pointed this out, I got a comped beer. I got a Spaten Optimator and a Stiegl Radler with my meal, both solid. I’ve more or less figured out my order at Berlin Currywurst – I get the paprikawurst with garlic at a spice level of 2. I like spicy food but the 2 is plenty. The paprikawurst is very flavorful, and like all the sausage I’ve had here, it has great texture. I guess there’s an option at this location to get your sausage currywurst style or in a bun – obviously, you want currywurst style, with the sausage in pieces in that delicious sauce, with some bread on the side. I did notice the bread here was not as good as in Silver Lake. Entirely different kind, and not as fresh or tasty. Small point, though. We stayed at Berlin Currywurst for a few hours, long past the end of our meal, which was quick and casual. The biergarten was just a nice place to pass a relaxing evening. It’s one of the few spots I’ve really liked in this part of town, and I’ll go back next time I need sausage or even just beer in Hollywood.

Came here after the club and it was good authentic german fair food. I had the paprikawurst and it was so good and packed with so much flavor and just enough spice to give it a kick without it burning my insides haha but yes also had a side order of the garlic and rosemary fries and damn i was surprised by how delicious they were with perfect crispness and flavor.

Everyone in our party was pretty disappointed here. The sausages were OK — nothing special and seemed overpriced for the size. Instead of the sliced german bread we were just given pieces of bun on the side — this was probably the worst aspect. Half the appeal of currywurst is a nice thick piece of rye, not a stale bun cut into two pieces. If you’re going for drinks sure this looks to be a fun place, otherwise, there’s much better out there.

Cute little beer garden near the touristy area of LA. We just finished exploring the Chinese Theater and taking pics of the Hollywood sign, and chose to eat here for dinner. The husband was missing his German food. We weren’t super hungry, so having brats and fries was just enough. The husband and I shared a double portion of the paprikawurst and an order of fries. I honestly haven’t had enough German food to say how authentic it was, but I know that it tasted good! The curry sauce has a strong tomato flavor, and a subtle curry taste. We ordered the rosemary garlic fries. Perhaps they forgot to put the rosemary and garlic on there, because they tasted like regular fries to me. I can’t speak for the beer… I’m not a beer drinker :). My only complaint about the place was that there were people smoking in the beer garden… I“m not familiar with California smoking laws, but either way, it was gross. Overall, it’s a nice place to have good conversation, drinks and food.

Very small restaurant, 3 booths, communal table and beer garden. Had an excellent Currywurst with grilled onions and spicy brown mustard, along with some very tasty rosemary fries. They had about a half dozen German beers on tap, so I had one, served in a mason jar. You get $ 2 off beer during happy hour. There is a bathroom out back behind the beer garden. 10% off with Unilocal check in. Would definitely go back next time I’m in the area.

Average. I think the concept is neat but honestly it feels like I’m just eating finger food made for a kid. Cut up some sausage and dip it in sauce. Paprika brat was good though. It seemed like it needed to pair with something else to balance this out because the bread wasn’t cutting it. Another expensive hipster place that serves too little and charges too much.

This place had a few hits, and a few misses for me. — Great atmosphere, not too crowded on a Friday — great place to hang out for a few hours, grab some beers and chat with friends. It’s not too loud, and the outdoor beer garden seating was nice. It’s not a huge place, but it does the job. — Parking sucks — there’s limited(impossible to find) street parking, and a few valet lots nearby. Prepare to spend anywhere between $ 8 – 12 on parking alone. — Great beer selection. The Steigl Radler came highly recommended, and it was bright, citrusy and delicious. Very refreshing! — Their paprikawurst was good but not great. It had good texture to it, but the flavor wasn’t all there for me. I can’t speak to the authenticity of the dish, but it just wasn’t my cup of tea. The three sauces on the side were lackluster as well. The garlic was decent — the ginger sauce tasted off. The sliced bread on the side was also dry and lacked flavor. — The fries were very disappointing. They were soggy and greasy, and didn’t have good texture or flavor. I don’t even think they came salted. — The pretzel was probably the best thing we got(aside from the beer) — it was warm, the dough tasted fresh, and it was tasty. Could have used a bit more salt, though. All in all, I probably wouldn’t come back. Service was friendly, and I really wanted to like this place, but parking wasn’t all worth the hassle, and food wasn’t great. Sure the beer was good(and not too pricey), but there are other places that do food, beer and location better.

I ordered the chicken/cilantro/onion wurst(Geflugelbratwurst) with the cajun sauce, currywurst style with the medium heat level and rosemary/garlic fries. Geflugelbratwurst: 5⁄5 — the sauce was amazing with the perfect amount of spice. The bread really helped to counteract the spice. The sausage was tasty and I enjoyed the whole plate. Rosemary/garlic Fries: 4⁄5 — the fries were tasty, but you could mostly only taste rosemary. I couldn’t taste any garlic. The fries with the sauce from my Currywurst was good! Service/ambience: 5⁄5 — the place has a chill vibe and the service was good. Outside in the beer garden they had a firepit which was cool, and just overall nice atmosphere to chill with friends. Overall, everything tasted really good and the place has a nice vibe.

Beers here are cheap(for the area at least — they’re under $ 6!), they come in mason jars(which is a little quirk I enjoyed), the staff is friendly, and the beer garden is nearly completely empty on the weekend. I came here on a Saturday with a sizable group and we had no problem finding space to lounge on a few of the benches around the fire pit. And, more impressively, we were able to hear one another talk without having to yell over obnoxiously loud music(a rarity in Hollywood), plus we didn’t have to stand in a line to get in(this makes the place an automatic win for me). Downsides include parking(forever, and always a problem in Hollywood), and while the beer garden does have fire, it doesn’t hurt to bring an extra layer: it gets cold as the night wears on. Overall this place is great, and I highly recommend checking it out!

Nice a little recommendation from my British friend. I’m glad that it’s actually a beer garden! I sat outside with my friend since it was a beautiful day. Anyway, it was a really pleasant experience. The guy at the front was really helpful and gave us a taste of all the beers on the front tap(there’s even more at the back!). I ended up getting the bockwurst(veal and pork), level 2(which was actually a bit spicy! I don’t know if I’d like to try it spicier.) with a piece of bread. My friend got the bratwurst in a bun. We also shared the rosemary fries which came with mayo. Very nice. Pretty good food, chill vibe, lovely outdoor seating. I def want to go again and try some more stuff! I don’t think it’s too filling though, so I guess that’s a downside. oh well!

Dropped by Berlin Currywurst before catching a show at the Pantages. My husband and I both ordered the Paprika Sausage with onions, mine was a level 2(spiciness level) and my husband’s was a level 4(apparently there is a level 5 off the menu) and also had sauerkraut. We both thoroughly enjoyed the sausages but didn’t love the buns they were served in(I think we will try it with the toast next time). We also shared an order of the Rosemary Garlic Fries, they were super crispy on the outside which I love but a little heavy handed on the salt. Overall this place is pretty awesome. The staff is great and the beer selection is also pretty wonderful. Very cute store. I imagine parking could be a pain but we were pretty lucky and found street parking right up front.

My friend sent me a food list challenge of 100 foods to see how many I could check off. I counted 87 she had 24. Currywurst was one of the items on the list and I was able to check that box thanks to having visited Berlin Currywurst. It’s pretty cool that you can try currywurst right here in LA. It’s Berlin streetfood so don’t expect anything too fancy. They are pretty much hot dogs/sausages covered in a curry sauce. The curry sauce is tasty and there are different spice levels for the different sauces. It’s simple food, not exactly hearty portions but good for appetizer sized snacks and excellent with beer, maybe that’s the whole point. They want you to drink up. The beer garden on site is über charming. It’s a real garden. The landscaping is quaint and the space is larger than it seems. I can totally see a hipster wedding being held here.
