Candy Shack

This place reminds me of some places back home in Georgia. It’s a lounge with a hip-​hop, speakeasy hybrid vibe. What surprised me most was the people who run the Friday only weekly event.
I have never felt so welcome anywhere here in LA. It’s a multicultural gathering of musical love. People come dressed down in jeans and sneakers to dressed up in heels (always my steelo)! The personalities are very warm here. It’s socially refreshing. No negatively amped patrons walking around, no drink spilling, no drunk folks falling on the floor. The crowd is always very mature despite the varied ages, which are usually 25 – 40.
Even if they weren’t this friendly, let’s talk about the music. In between the DJ sets, there is live instrumental music and there is live singing. The singers are amazing. All of the band is stellar. The dance floor is rarely empty when the DJ is on. I mean I’m amazed at the value of my $ 10 entry fee.
I’ve been here 3 out of my last 4 Fridays. The drinks are great. Don’t make the same mistake I once did by getting 2 Long Island ice teas. By the middle of the 2^nd one, I was an 8 on the 1 – 10 tipsy scale. They accept credit cards. Make sure you keep your drink inside. If you’re caught outside, they get really upset and you might get ejected-​the message is brutal, but the delivery is always kind, cause that’s how nice they are.
This place is definitely a mainstay in my social life now. I have even made some nonflaky friends here, which we all know is hard to do in LA.
All in all, you do want to come here. It will be one of the best musical experiences of your life.

really chill vibe, friendly people, despite what you might think with its location being in Crenshaw square. Jazz music is top notch, with some of the city’s best musicians stopping by on any given friday. Its a friday night only gathering. 30 – 40 year old crowd

This place is awesome! Great music, great food, and a great atmosphere. A nice change from the usual hollywood club experience. Everyone was super down to earth. The band was amazing, hard to believe you can still get a show like that for only 10 bucks. And the dancing! Man that DJ really knows how to move a crowd… Highly recommended. I’ll be going back next week for sure…

Great live music, great DJ’s and great food & drinks. More than worth the price of admission. Highly recommend this spot for an enjoyable night on the town.

I’m a little bias because I’m one of the vocalist at THE CANDY SHACK but it is an amazing club. So many great musicians come through for our midnight JAM SESSION. Live music at the end of the week just does something for your soul. A really nice spot in the heart of LA. Check it out…

This is the HOTTEST of the «Hot Spots» in Southern California!!! The entertainment is off the hook, the place has a energetic atmosphere, they provide delicious food, and I was really surprised how much I enjoyed myself. I recommend this place to anyone who’s looking to have a great time.

Every Friday at the lounge I listen to classy musicians who play expressive tones and soulful artists that light up the microphones and sing to a crowd that get’s bit by the «Love Jones,» of beautiful, sexy ladies in there classic styles, let’s not forget the warm greeting’s and smiles… and if you are craving a snack then the Midnight B.B.Q. has your back or the colorful rainbow of skittles that hit’s the middle of the tables where you can relax, sit back in style and chit chat to cat’s… or dance on the floor and improve your score… I give it five stars a toast to the hosts, a tip of the hat because this is where it’s at!
