I wish I could give negative star. This was the shittiest breakfast I’ve ever had. Oh actually, I never had it because it was too disgusting to eat. We meant to go to bottega Louie but the line was so long that we thought we’d give it a try. The food took 30 minutes to come out. There was black pieces from the grill on my hash browns that weren’t even cooked. The waitress didn’t even ask us how we wanted our eggs. When they came out, the yolk had cracked and just been cooked through into the dense, rubbery white yolk. The bacon was thin and 80% fat – I’ve seen better at McDonalds. My sister’s «poached» egg was completely cooked, like a hard boiled egg. We were supposed to have toast with our meals, but none was brought to our table, To make matters worse, when we spoke to the manager, she was COMPLETELY unapologetic and rude, making it seem like we were crazy. Please, whatever you do, DONOTGOHERE. If bottega is busy, go to McDonald’s or IHOP. This place makes Chipotle(across the street) look like a Michelin star restaurant.

Now open as a pop up called living breathing kitchen for brunch and dinner. Also on «Friday and Saturday night», they have djs playing(really good music). Music starts at 10pm i believe. Very interesting place with classic décor. This place is def a pop up gem. I Also Think they call it «the dew drop inn» pop up at night.

I’ve been meaning to write a review for months now. We found Coco Laurent by accident. We had gone to Bottega Louie across the street for brunch(lured in by the beautiful macaroons in the display case). But it was SO crowded there, and noisy, we were getting stressed waiting for a table with a crowd of others waiting for tables while a few tables sat empty. We said«Screw it, let’s get out of here.» So we left and saw Coco Laurent across the street. We were a little wary because it was extremely uncrowded, but we were starving so we went there, and we were SO glad we did! First because there are outdoor tables just outside the huge open wall(inside was beautiful too, high ceiling, old world style bar), and we were happy to be able to eat outside. Not many places where you can in downtown L.A. We each had dishes that were delicious. Drinks were delicious. It was crowded by the time we left but we couldn’t believe it wasn’t packed the whole time. We loved it there, have been back several times, once with an out-of-town guest, all great experiences. But I’m nervous reading the latest reviews — it sounds like it’s changing. I’ll have to go back and try it again…

No longer called Coco Laurent. now called Project X? Apparently it’s a work in progress. Got a few food items here and it was miserable. Gnocci seemed stale and only 6 small gnocci for something like $ 15? The mixed drinks were good. I would only go here for drinks in the future. Prices on food were very high, portions were tiny and taste was horrid. They apparently spend all their time on presentation. Food: Poor — 1 – 2 star Presentation: Excellent — 5 star Service: Average 3 star Ambiance: Good — 4 star Value: Poor 1 star

2 stars for the food, an extra star for the decoration and location. I do like the set up. I generally like sitting at the bar within the restaurant to be shielded from the street. Came here with the girls for some drinks. Their food was not that great, sometimes, you just want some side food to munch on but nothing was good here, not even the drinks :/ Will not be returning.

I. Love. This. Place!!! Since Hunter works in DTLA, he’s always trying to find more ways to solidify his win over my heart– finding new places to dine. This was definitely a winner! First off, a name like Coco Laurent– that pretty much sets a standard of expecting quality food. Quality food– expectation met. But the pricing, OMG! All day happy hour! YES– $ 5 handcrafted cocktails, $ 5 for lightly fried artichoke heart, $ 5 for calamari, $ 8 beef carpaccio, and $ 8 for truffle macaroni and cheese. I not only couldn’t believe the prices, I couldn’t believe the huge amount of food they gave us and how absolutely amazing it tasted! Our server James and mixologist Andrea truly were the cherry on top. So hospitable, remembered Hunter coming in earlier to scout out the restaurant, even remembered what he ordered on his first trip. It’s very rare to find such amazing spots, especially in DTLA, where on every corner is a new hip venture hoping to grace the pages of EaterLA. Coco Laurent delivers without being pretentious and overly priced. Bringing quality and sophistication without making someone jump through hoops, it was truly a breath of fresh air. It’s easily seen that this is geared to I cannot wait to come back.

Went for a girls’ night out over the weekend Love the ambiance. We had a reservation, but met early for a cocktail at the bar. We were seated right when we told the hostess we were ready which was nice! Our table was not on the patio, but the dining area is open to the patio and I loved having that fresh air coming through the whole evening. I ordered the scallops and they were perfection. They were served on a small bed of mashed potatoes and everything had great flavor. The presentation was beautiful as well. The wine list has a considerable selection and I like that there were a lot more champagne by the glass selections than you would find at most places. Our server was amazing and parking was a breeze(always a concern of mine since I’m not really familiar with downtown!) There is a parking structure right next door. Overall we had a great experience!

I went for happy hour. They have a couple of $ 5 drinks. I tried the Barcelonette and the Honeysuckle. I liked both, the Barcelonette is sweeter. I also tried the happy hour fried artichokes. I liked them. The service was good, cute environment. I didn’t try their«real food» but my experience was good and I like the environment.

Came for brunch on a weekend. No wait. Not too crowded. Great location, spacious seating, gorgeous design and open patio to people watch on 7th And grand. Service is top notch and coffee is strong and constantly refilled. Food was beautifully presented and they had a small and concise brunch menu to choose from. But taste wise, it wasn’t too memorable. I got the eggs Benedict and although everything was done properly, it was served lukewarm. My fingerling potatoes which I had to order extra on the side because it wasn’t included as with other brunch places were drowned in butter and did not have much texture or flavor. This place has so much potential to be a great brunch place downtown. They should definitely amp up their food and they will be a standard like bottega Louie across the street.

We didn’t want to wait in line for bottaga loui so we decided to walk on over to coco Laurent. We were seated right away which was great for 4 hungry girls . The service was amazing they were ontop of making sure we were fully satisfied. The food was amazing. We ordered from the brunch menu which had a great verity. I had the croque Madame which was beyond amazing. It was two French toast with ham in between and cheese on too with a over easy egg on top. With a side of light salad. It was a great choice and we were fully satisfied. Perfect Sunday brunch spot

We found this place quite by accident. we were hooking up with family members from Orange County and w came from Ventura. We were going to go to Louie’s across the street for brunch. There were 9 of us and it was an hour wait over there. We saw Coco on the other corner and thought we would give it a try. Good call! The gal at the front desk set up a table for our group in just a couple of minutes. Immediately the wait staff was on our table. I drink o LOT if iced tea and my glass was never close to empty. The manager is We had folks from 85 to 10 and everyone found something on the brunch menu that made them happy. All in all, we had a last minute invasion of 9 people and were wonderfully received, well fed and taken care of very professionally. What more could we ask for. Thank you for making our family gathering a great event!

Stopped in to take advantage of the happy hour(4−7PM) on our way to an event. The place is sexy and dimly lit, has traditional style décor, an outside patio, a nice bar with underlit shelving for the liquors, and high ceilings. The restaurant part only had a few tables of businessmen, seemed slow at 6:30 on a Wednesday night. Can’t put my finger on it but the restaurant seating felt kind of awkward. Too open maybe? The bar seating was comfy and cool, service from the bartender/mixologist was great — laidback and attentive. We ordered: 1. Penicillin($ 5) — famous grouse, honey, ginger, lemon. my friend liked this drink and I thought it was tastier than the one at Perch. Oddly enough, he thought the bartender looked familiar, asked if he [the bartender] worked at Perch(I guess he’s [my friend] a regular there lol), and whoa we found out that yes he [the bartender] did and tonight was his first night at Coco. 2. Southern Hospitality($ 5) — buffalo trace, agave, and lime. this one was mine and it was nice, tasty and strong. 3. Dark and Stormier($ 5) — bacardo anejo, cointreau noir, ginger lime. my friend liked it enough to order a 2nd one. 4. Tuno Crudo($ 7) — 5 slices of tuna with some shaving of fennel, onions, and teeny tomato dicings. not great, not bad. wished I would have gotten the crispy pork belly instead($ 6) I’d give the pricey food a try if I’m in the area sometime, but for now this place is a pretty cool happy hour find.

My boyfriend and I stopped by Coco Laurent one afternoon for a beer while we were waiting for a table at Sugarfish. The bar is grand, beautiful, and spacious. The space is great here– high ceilings, open patio, lush booths. The service was wonderful. We had swanky little bartender who was dressed to impress pour our beers. Great pitstop for a drink at the bar.

Maybe it was because I got spoiled by the Maitre ‘D, but I thought the food was pretty good. I really love the décor and ambiance. Open space; nice patio area to people watch; great mixologists. This place has great potential, and I hope people give it a try. I sat at the bar as the mixologist made us some tasty treats. They were friendly and attentive. One the bartenders had the most awesome stylish hair; she did cut and dyed herself… talents. There are two patio seating. One located for dining on the corner of 7th& Grand, the other on the side of Grand Ave. I was told later that will be more of a loungy scene with a local Female DJ. She was rockin’ some groovy tunes. There is a bar on both sides of the patios, so you don’t have to walk too far. If you’re tired of screaming your conversation through your dinner at Bottega, give Coco Laurent a chance. I think your dining experience would be a lot more pleasant. Cheers!

Intending to go to Bottega Louie and then saw that this just newly opened(well opened last November but never noticed). and decided to stop by. Great seating area outside. people watch and pretend like you’re in NYC. but then realize it’s just Seven and Grand in DTLA. Anyways, I thought the service was pretty bad. Not only did it take forever for them to take our order. they never came by with the right bill. We had to ask and it took another 10 minutes for them to get out the right check. We were late to our event that night. Onto the food. I wish the food was hot. All the food was lukewarm which made me a little sad… well except the fried stuff. — Fried artichokes: good. just as it says. I didn’t love the aioli sauce. — Fries with truffle oil: pretty good… but the fries reminded me of McDonald. — Scallops: three that were decent sized. I really liked that they swapped out for brussel sprouts. I wish they were just hotter… they were warm. The wine wasn’t that good. tried, the tempranillo and pinot noir.

I really wanted to like this place but I cannot deny that their food is bland. I got the pesto pasta and it was sub par to what I have experienced. Pesto is a very easy thing to make and the only good thing about the dish was the ratatouille side. The truffle fries were decent but too soggy. I love french food but I do not think I can go back here unless I have drinks. The service was great though…

I was supposed to meet someone here for lunch, but she stood me up: WTF!!! Oh well, I still had to eat so I said, WTH!!! I ordered lightly because I had an interview later: Assiette De Fromages Et Charcuterie — A selection of cheeses and cured meat, and spiced sweet and sour onion compote($ 18), and La Vegy — A salad w/arugula, heirloom tomatoes, cucumber, fennel, orange and grapefruit segments, avocado, marinated white mushrooms, honey citrus vinaigrette —($ 12). The cheeses and charcuterie was bomb!!! Each one had its own distinctive taste and there was only a little bread so it did not interfere w/the stars of this course. I have never been to France, but I have had this dish at Church & State and Perch(Yes, there is more to do at Perch besides drinking and hollaring — hahaha). CL’s version was right up there w/both: 5 Stars. The salad was also excellent. The combination of vegetables and fruit was perfect on a hot day. The only recommendation I have is to ask for the dressing on the side. I felt the amount of dressing was a bit too much for my liking: 5 Stars. The hostess Linda and bartender Michelle were super nice. Linda was encouraging me to come at night w/my friends — She was very convincing. My friends and I will be back soon and she will be sorry — LOL!!! Michelle has tons of personality and is a real nice person. She comped my lemonade on a very hot day: 5 Stars. The ambiance is outstanding. The inside bar is long and you can sit outside on the patio or at the other bar facing Grand St. CL is not as loud as Bottega Louie across the street because the restaurant is open air. This place is a good place for a biz mtg, a date, or for pretty people watching: 5 Stars. I definitely want to come back when I don’t have any restrictions to try the escargot, deviled eggs, lamb burger and other entrees(for you carniwhores they also have beef tartare). BTW, did I mention they also have absinthe? LMAO!!!

This is a big place. There is a decent amount of interior seating and even more outdoor seating. The décor is clean and good looking. The staff was friendly and quite helpful. For my meal I ordered the Fromage Omelette with Potatoes Pancake and Pork Belly Bacon. The omelette was very good. The trio of cheeses provided deep delicious flavor. The potato pancakes were solid. They were prepared in duck fat which always adds good rich flavor. The bacon was a thick cut and prepared perfectly. Good food, staff and seating. That is enough to please me.

It might be better to stick to wines here and wait to eat across the street at Bottega Louie. The wine list is quite varied and reasonably priced with a glass of St. Emilion for $ 15 or a Malbec for $ 9, for drinkers of white, they have a a nice Chardonnay from Sonoma Cutrer for $ 10. The soupe de poisson was decent, but a bit bland, so I couldn’t wait to try my steak tartare, made with extra lean Angus ground beef, cocktail sauce, onions, capers, cornichons, capers, chopped parsley and topped with a quail egg, served with smoked rosemary waffle potato chips for $ 14. I found it good, but not great. The quality of the beef was wonderful, but the flavor was a bit bland. I loved the rosemary waffle potato chips and although they were fragile, topping them with the beef tartare added a nice texture and seasoning to the beef. I mixed in the micro cilantro greens, but I found that they detracted a bit from the tartare, so I would recommend not incorporating them into the beef. Service was wonderful from the waiter, Justin, to the manager, Pascale. Even the busboy was attentive enough to retrieve a button from my raincoat which fell off! I might try them again, maybe after they have settled in a bit.
