I attended the Conscious Life Expo a couple of weeks ago at the Los Angeles Hilton. Overall the speakers were great(there WERE a few duds but given the large number of presenters that was to be expected.) My only complaint is about the venue itself. A hotel is not really an appropriate venue for an event of this kind. I’ve been to many expos like this one over the years and they were always held in conference centers, not hotels. The halls leading to the meeting rooms were so crowded you could barely get through them. Also the exhibit hall was confusingly laid out and also very crowded. There were very few eating places in the exhibit hall(basically just two vegetarian food stations.) Since there was only 15 – 30 minutes between speakers, the lines were always very long at either place. I hope the organizers of the expo read this review because it really is a shame that the venue detracted from the overall quality of the event.

I attended the«A Day of Healing Seminar»(offered by Conscious Life Expo) with my husband, and my daughter(third year medical student who is interested in alternative medicine). The seminar description and the guest speakers sounded very interesting and credible on the web advertisement so paid $ 75/person to attend. We looked forward to a day of healing! The first guest speaker, Ling Rong Liang, a Chinese doctor and Qi Gong Medicine Professor from Sichuan China and is the student of Lotus Qi Gong Grand Master Wei Ling Yis. Unfortunately, she didn’t speak English well enough for me to comprehend. 80% of what she said was incomprehensible and her explanation on stem cell apparently was medically & scientifically misleading(per my daughter who had recently taken the medical board exam). Further frustration and irritation… a Spanish interpreter was standing too close by the speaker that we were hearing echoes in Spanish on top of heavy Chinese-English that I had to squeeze my brain to comprehend! Far from the healing that the seminar was supposed to provide! The second guest, Helaine Z. Harris, LMFT, Healing Heart Wounds — Journey of Love! I was relieved that she spoke perfect English! No brain squeeze here! Then, she began talking about why she became a therapist for a while(too long of an introduction). She then wanted the attendees to find someone to talk about their past relational pains! Nope! I did not come to the seminar to air my dirty laundry! Some people were beginning to leave the room, and others were looking around searching for a «dirty laundry» partner. That was our chance to bail out! To say the least, we were very disappointed! The next day, I called Robert(person in charge) and tried to give him my objective feedback and kindly request a refund. He started to scream and yell saying that Chinese medicine is over 5,000 years old!(No dispute there!) He began swearing, «F…ng» this, that, do what you have to do(still yelling) and hung up! I was speechless! Unprofessional, angry, and obviously do not care about customer feedback for future seminars! Bottom line, Do NOT attend their monthly seminars unless you know the guest speakers.
