This library may be small, but has a lot of heart. When i used to come here, there was a librarian by the name of Josh who always remembered my name and was so helpful and attentive. I wonder how he’s doing. Might pay him a visit soon.

The Anthony Quinn public Library is located on the former site of the Academy Award winning actor’s childhood home. My father lived a block away from Mr. Quinn’s home, and they often walked to school together. My dad told me he teased Quinn because he took ballet classes. My dad and Anthony both attended Hammel Elementary School, and Belvedere Junior High School which is just across the street from the library that now bares his name. Unfortunately, the library is one of the smallest libraries in the Los Angeles County Library system, and not really dedicated to the memory of the actor, aside from the name. Mr. Quinn was also an accomplished sculptor, it would be nice to have some of his art work on display, and posters from some of his most famous movies, such as Zorba the Greek, La Strada, Viva Zapata! and Lawrence of Arabia.
