I stumbled across this food truck tucked into a parking lot on Las Palmas just north of Hollywood Blvd. As I approached I saw Carne Asada Fries on the menu. I got excited at the idea that they might make the mythical California Burrito right here in LA. I quickly scanned the menu and noticed a Pastrami California Burrito… interesting, but I had eyes for only one burrito this night. There it was in all its glory! The California Burrito with Carne Asada, cheese, guac, sour cream, and French Fries! I pushed my way to the front of the line(it was actually just me) and slapped down a crisp tenner…“Let’s see this California Burrito of yours!” I challenged and deposited a bill in the tip jar to insure the best possible CA burrito they had to offer. As I waited I filled a few plastic cups with their hottest red salsa and one of that red cabbage habanero slaw. My burrito arrived and I quickly snatched it and rushed to my car as the kind gentleman that made my burrito advised I be careful cuz the French fries were really hot. I quickly jumped in my car and carefully unwrapped the monstrous beauty. For some reason I buckled my seat belt. The first bite is always just a formality and doesn’t really count because there is no salsa and too much tortilla(the last bite is a different story). I drizzled a hefty amount of red sauce onto what would become my second and third bites and charged in! I was not disappointed and what seemed like 1 minute passed. I looked down fondly on what would be my last bite and dumped what remained of the deliciously spicy red sauce onto it and my fingers and popped it in my mouth savoring it for what seemed longer than it took me to eat the whole burrito. I rushed over to the truck and thanked my new favorite burrito man. I found out he also has trucks at other locations. I think it was on Vine St across from Avalon and one at Sunset and Alvarado in Silver Lake! I’m so excited to have found a really good California Burrito in LA!
