This is the most authentic Thai food I’ve had in LA. The Chinese Broccoli with Crispy Pork is exceptional. It’s even better than Hoy Ka Noodles. They also have Morning Glory with Crispy Pork. I’ve had many of their other dishes as well, and all were excellent: Panang Curry, BBQ Chicken, Papaya Salad, Clams with Chili Sauce… YUM!!! Staff has always been really friendly(but they know me by now). I generally don’t go to Thai restaurants for the ambience, so I could care less about the décor, tv, etc. The name means«Crispy Pork Gang»

I went to this restaurant based on Unilocal reviews, and aside from the cheap prices this place didn’t add up. They seated us by the hallway with boxes and signs leaning against the wall beside us, and right beside us was a loud tv with American Idol on. Next up was a Howie Mandel reality show about how flash mobs can solve all of life’s problems. First they brought out the appetizer after the main courses, and it was fried wanton without any meat in it; ie. just the wanton. The Phad Thai was average but extra goopy and not very fresh tasting, and the soup was just ok with dry chicken. The staff didn’t fill our water or bring our bill until we got up to leave. So all in all, not the best experience and I’m going to look for better thai places in the area. On the bright side, now I know all I need is a good flash mob when times are tough.

This new Thai restaurant is wonderful, it has maybe the most flavorful tasting dishes in Hollywood. Matched by also having very affordable prices for such delectable culinary delights of a more authentic style. One such dish is the superb«pumpkin curry» highly recommended!

I haven’t had Thai food in a while so when fellow Unilocaler Anthony N suggested this restaurant I was immediately thrilled about the chance to revisit Thai Town. As the new kid on the block, they are located in the same plaza as Red Corner Asia, Thai Patio, and Ruen Pair. They are open 24 hours and the venue is big enough for groups. It was late in the evening and I was here with several Unilocalers that included Anthony N, Fia R, Tim C, and Sophia N. They had live performance that was on and off beat, and the square-shaped interior looked chic with lines of tables that stacked from its perimeters before they reach the stage. It wasn’t particularly crowded on this evening, but parking in the area can be challenging unless you valet. Not everyone at the table was a fan of spicy dishes so it wasn’t an occasion where I can ask them to go authentically spicy. We managed to try the Spicy Fried Rice Crispy Pork that came with crispy fried pork buried beneath an onslaught of greasy fried rice with mint leaves and green scallions to add sharp textures here and there. The rice was soggy but had great flavor, and I wished the crispy pork came in larger pieces as they were fairly addictive. Overall, the consistencies in the fried rice were missing the flavor had depth and form. Additionally, we had the chance to try the Stir Fried Morning Glory, which came with slippery textures with a mild spicy backdrop and savory flavors. The morning glory could use firmer textures, but again the great flavors were accompanied by a big greasy spoon. We also enjoyed the Fried Tofu as it was firm, flavorful, lightly glazed with sesame and a sprinkle of green onions. The Chicken with Stir Fried Vegetables was probably my least favorite, as it didn’t mentally connect me to the all the bold complex flavors at the table. To end our meal on a high note, the Steamed Sea Bass was outstanding. The spicy tangy broth boasts fresh hints of cilantro, ginger, and lemon and a tender flavorful Sea Bass that came intact. We were given extra broth to add to the Sea Bass, and the captivating smell matched well with all the complexities steeped in the broth. Comparatively, the dish still fell short to the one at Lers Ros, but it was worth getting for those waiting to give this place a try. To accompany the meal I also tried their Taro Boba that turned out to be a thick shake with powdered taro, a persistent hint of coconut milk, and lots of boba with moderate QQ effect. It took some time for it to arrive but the semi-sweet drink served as a nice refresher to counteract the series of bold flavors. Overall, our meal was underscored by complex authentic flavors but every dish was a bit greasier than what I expected. Service was very kind and responsive, and the menu was extensive enough to piqué our group’s interests. I’d love to come back to ask them to go full on spicy and try their Crab Fried Rice, other crispy pork dishes, and have the Steamed Bass again. This place is good for group and late night hang out. Not yet a fan because I still think Ruen Pair located two doors away is better. 3.5 stars for the overall experience.

First timer here at Gang Moo Krob… or Crispy Pork Gang(in English). LOL. I’m surprised there’s only 2 previous reviews. Gang is somewhat similar to Pa Ord and Hoi Kah noodles. BUT I think Gang takes credit cards for you who don’t carry cash(especially rare for small moms and pops Thai restaurants). Service at Gang’s is pretty awesome! Some of the old staffers from Hoi Kah noodles(P’Pun.she’s cool) now work here. The establishment itself is ok… back in the days it use to be a Winchell’s donuts and then it was Captain Thai restaurant. I like Gang during the day time since I hate the valet parking situation in this shopping center in the evenings. There is no reason to valet to come grab a bowl of noodles… plain and simple. Food? Not too bad either. I though the Gang noodles were just ok. A bit on the sour/vinegar side compared to the other places around there, but their Moo Krob over rice and appetizers were yummy. Gang also has a bigger menu with more selections and not just popular for their noodles. A pretty good place for Thai food in an area of Hollywood filled with a bizillion Thai restaurants.

I went there for lunch and had their noodle special. It was definitely something I’ve never had but my mom does make a different version of this noodle soup. They put different crunch factors in such as crispy pork which gives it a nice surprise. My friends knew the workers and they were all very nice. I will definitely be coming back.
