Totally delish! We came another time before a Theatre West a few months ago and it was good. But this time my meal was AMAZING! I had the Panang curry with tofu and added green beans and cauliflower and crushed peanuts. The flavor was out of this world!!! Try it! Yumyumyum

I love GC Marketplace. Consistently good food and wonderful service. I live in the neighborhood and this is my go to spot. Everything that we’ve tried is excellent. We usually get the New Yorker Pizza and a Side Salad to split. Delicious! The desserts are also fantastic. Great Lemon Squares, Pumpkin Squares, Crème Brulee and Gluten Free Brownies. Garrett and the rest of the staff are very knowledgeable about their wine and beer selection and will always steer you in the right direction. Also, they don’t advertise this, but they serve bottomless mimosas at brunch. :) 5 stars!!! Crystal and Jesus are our favorite servers. Go local and try this gem in the Cahuenga Pass.

Happy hour from 3 – 6 daily; stopped in here to kill some time before dinner and realized it was their happy hour so I ordered the calamari and cheese plate which were both yummy. Calamari was perfectly fried, not over breaded, drizzled with an aoli and served with a spicy marinara sauce. Cheese today was a brie and the dish was served with 3 slices of bread and blackberries. The portions were small. I also ordered a glass of sangria but it was just ok; a little too sweet for me. Really nice restaurant, large space. I would come back again to meet friends and have a drink.

Walk in a couple minutes before 11, heart set on breakfast and they’re not serving it anymore! Kitchen already cleaning up. Stare at menu, stand at counter and finally decide on a ham & cheese quiche. «We’re actually out of that.» Seriously. Bye. This place is over priced and over rated and way too self aware. Everyone here acts like they’re better than everyone else. I’m just going back to Starbucks.

Had an amazing breakfast at GC Marketplace the other day. Parking was easy(parked on the street) Place was huge, beautiful, colorful. Ambiance: LA marketplace dining. Seating: indoor and outdoor. Pretty chill place. Lovely place for grabbing a quick bite after a walk, or before a morning drive. We liked the fact that the tables were not close to each other. We also love the vast display of wines on the wall. Wait time was about 25 – 30 minutes from walk-in to «food on table.» 10⁄10 Eggs Benedict(pork cut) –amazing!!! 9.5÷10 Omelet(ham) 9.5÷10 Dessert(fruit tart) We’ll definitely be back.

I’ve been waiting to write this as I like to try a place a few times just so that I have the full picture. The reason I like this place is because it’s independent and chef driven. Today I decided to come in for a cappuccino and pastry. Both were excellent. They open at 9am weekdays and pastry comes out warm at 9am. Croissants, 3 types, and 2 types of muffins. All were outstanding. Easy parking in back. This has to be the easiest breakfast/coffee in Universal City. There-my well kept secret is out. The rest is up to you.

This is our favorite neighborhood market and restaurant! The Gluten Free pizza is really the best in town, crispy, crunchy, the closest thing to real pizza we have had. The brisket is amazing, very smoky and tender. The quality of the ingredients and the variety of foods they sell here is what keeps us coming back. They have all the gourmet cheeses, and a bakery that makes melt in your mouth deserts. I just wish they were open longer hours!

Paleo lovers and all this place is great! Staff very accommodating and friendly. Finally we have a place over the hill that’s got clean eating. Rosè selection was on point as well. ½ chicken was the way to go!

This was a highly disappointing brunch. First off, they can’t — and won’t — accommodate groups. The waitress and owner were both frazzled and exasperated by the size of our group. And, they let us know about it. Again and again. They mentioned again and again that they don’t normally do separate checks. They also refused to push tables together so that we could all sit together. The waitress also asked me, a guest of the group, instead of the host to inform everyone that they’d have to come up to the counter one by one to pay for their separate checks. Moreover, the food is hit or miss. My brunch entrée, the salmon eggs benedict over hash browns was delicious and well executed, but nearly everyone else at my table thought the food was meh. And I agree, because I tried a bite of everyone else’s, from the traditional eggs benedict to the brisket sandwich to the other dishes. And the almond croissant I ordered at the bakery counter was disgusting. It was literally as hard as a rock. I could barely stab my knife in it. When I went up to exchange it, they said«that’s how they’re made.» Wrong, but whatever. So I ordered a muffin, and the waitress gave me a hard time about the 50-cent refund I was owed due to the muffin being cheaper than the almond croissant! I pressed it on matter of principle because everything else had been so unpleasant. Finally, about 30 minutes later, I was delivered 2 quarters to my table. The only thing this place has going for it is the décor. SKIPSKIPSKIP. Enter at your own risk, and god forbid, you go with a group larger than 2.

I heard of this place from my boyfriend and he took me here on a Wednesday afternoon for lunch! It was around 2PM. It’s street parking but if you turn into nearby streets there’s lots of street parking. Some with meters, some without. When I first entered it’s a very market-like atmosphere. Hence the name. There’s menus at a small table near the entrance and you just go up to the cashier to order when you’re ready. After ordering, they give you a number and they’ll bring it to you when the food is ready! This is ONLY for lunch. At dinner, it’s full service. While looking through the menu there were 2 servers who asked if we’ve been here before or if we had any questions. Great service here! We got the chinese chicken salad, couscous & brisket hand carved sandwich. With sandwiches, you can add a side for $ 3, so my boyfriend got a side of fries with his sandwich. The Chinese chicken salad was SO good. It was light and it wasn’t drenched in dressing. The chicken was good quality and was super tender and wasn’t dry. It had great flavor :) The flavors in the salad balanced together very well. I definitely would love to get it again! The couscous was an interesting taste. It tasted«flowery»? I can’t really describe it but I didn’t love it. I ate it because I ordered it but next time I could get the quinoa or something else instead. Everyone has a different palate so you would need to try it yourself to judge! The Brisket Hand carved sandwich was filled with lots of meat. They definitely didn’t skimp on that! Haha, my boyfriend said it was delicious and definitely filling with the portions they give and the size of the sandwich. They don’t use sandwich bread, it’s a bun. I had a bit of the brisket and it was very tender and juicy. So yummy! Gary Arabia, founder and chef of this place came out to clean our table and to pick up our plates. It’s cool how he actually comes out to interact with customers instead of just being in the back making food all the time. It’s great we as customers can actually meet and see the chef without asking. He was super nice. We had a great short convo! I will definitely be visiting again when I have time to come to this area again :)

My sis had a date here and was a fan, so it was inevitable that we would visit together. For parking, there’s a few spots up front on the street and a few spots behind(they are hidden behind a wall with garbage dumpster). I was able to grab a spot in the back. Ambiance is an open warehouse marketplace. There’s seating inside & out(saw couple with their pup outside). There’s different counters with different items. Cheese counter, salads/deli counter, bakery/coffee counter. We stepped up to the coffee counter, where we were told to place our breakfast order. After placing our order, we grabbed a seat by the window. There were only a few people here, so sis and I had a great conversation. BUT, because of the high open ceilings, I imagine it gets loud at happy hour. Servers were busy and moving fast, but I still spotted one bringing a bowl of water for a dog. Cool. Drink? Cappuccino. Very Good. Breakfast? Salmon Bagel Plate. They bring out the bagel toasted on a separate plate. On another plate they have the House Cured Lox, cream cheese, tomato, cucumber, mesclun lettuce, red onion & capers. This is another of my breakfast favorites, but I have avoided for the past couple of years because many places don’t serve quality lox. HOWEVER, the Lox here IS Very Good. Plus, the bagel tasted fresh and was toasted just right. Final Note: Great place to make a pit stop to prepare the perfect date meal: great selection of wine, cheese, fresh pasta, etc.

A group of friends and I came here to grab dinner before seeing a play 3 doors away. GC Market place is a fairly new establishment as it opened 7 – 8 months ago. It’s an interesting place, bright and contemporary, thoughtfully designed layout and a great attention to detail. ~ It’s a restaurant, but also has a deli counter with lots of tasty things.
~ There’s a pizza oven and rotisserie too! ~ They have a dessert counter with a very tempting array of delicious treats.
~ Plus a very cool display wall of wine and champagne for sale. ~ Here is the«market» with a few«boutique» items for sale as well. They even have a cheese counter offering some very unique cheeses that’s tended by a «cheese monger». Manager Christina offered us a free sample as a friend and I looked over the different cheeses. SERVICE: Our server Crystal, aside from having a really beautiful smile, was great. She was very friendly, informative, attentive and refilled or preplaced beverages before they were empty. After ordering, the appetizers and entrees came out of the kitchen in a very reasonable amount of time. Beverages: Even though a variety of beer & wine are available, I started with an Arnold Palmer(yeah I know, boring). A couple friends ordered Arrogant Bastard Ale(on tap!). They loved it! I tasted it, but it’s much too dark, strong and bitter for me. FOOD: We started with fried Calamari($ 6 — happy hour). It was perfectly cooked and had a light, almost tempura like batter. This was served with a thin, spicy marinara, just delicious. I decided to try the Rigatoni & sausage pasta(homemade fennel pork sausage, roasted tomatoes & basil — $ 12.50). This was quite tasty, but very spicy. This was unexpected as the menu description said nothing about it being spicy. I was OK with it, but I can see it being an issue for people who don’t do spicy. One friend ordered the Panang Curry(chicken, peppers, spicy coconut curry sauce W/peanuts & scallions — $ 12) This was my 2nd choice. I was able to taste this and it was very good too! However he commented there were A LOT of veggies and very little meat, in this case chicken. I agree, for $ 12 there should be a better balance of meat/veggies. Another friend ordered the Salmon BLT(Applewood bacon, tomato, spring mix & lemon aioli on house made onion roll — $ 14). At first my friend questioned this combo with the salmon, but said it all worked together and was very good. Another in the group ordered the Thai Chicken Noodles(spiced chicken, wide rice noodles, roasted in Thai spice sauce w/peanuts & scallions — $ 12) He said he really enjoyed the dish. For dessert, even though I wanted one of everything on display at the counter, I controlled myself and got an Éclair($ 2.95) I thought it was quite good! OVERALL: IMHO the prices are a little high, but the service and food were quite good in this newer contemporary market place.

This is a cool place nearby the Hollywood bowl and studio city. A converted old market space(still have orig signage inside) into a slick cool eatery. Eclectic menu of pizzas, sandwiches, salads, wok’d items, proteins ala carte, fresh farm sides, specialty coffees, cheese, wine, everything under the sun. The place is counter service but features a beautiful open kitchen and separate grab n go area full of gourmet products and beverages. Nice selection of wine both by the bottle and via glass. Very cool walk up espresso /wine bar with a nice selection of pastries and desserts to satisfy any sweet tooth or morning craving. Nice pizza oven and a cheese section! I understand that they have another restaurant in Hollywood which I now want I try. The staff is friendly and great here and the food was impressive for a counter svc place. Where can you get fresh pâté to a Thai beef salad to a great wood fired pizza. Still cheaper than a table svc restaurant with Wolfgang/patina quality of casual dining menu. The ingredients are all quality and fresh. This staff takes pride in their operation. Nice brunch menu too! Plenty of interior and outdoor seating. My only gripe is the parking. Only street parking which is limited unless you park in the nearby neighborhood. I wish they would at least add valet or do a deal with a nearby office building to park at in non office hours. Good casual gourmet find! Highly recommended — would give 5 stars if they had parking.
