This place is a dump! Douchebag crowd, and douchebag management. Don’t support this business and don’t work here.

Golden Box is Hollywood’s best kept musical secret. Its Tuesday weekly, Space Yacht, is arguably one of the best discoveries I have made in Los Angeles’ music scene thus far. Each lineup has brought me in with music I love and new music to discover. Never pretentious or exclusive, this club is the only place where I could imagine seeing secret guests from Anna Lunoe to Steve Aoki in a boiler room setting, without the obnoxious crowd that could come with. I’ve run into such great people here, and have I mentioned the surprise pizza? Make time in your week for this — otherwise you’ll let one of LA’s most exciting, growing music scenes pass by you.

80’s night on Thursday was sooooo much fun! This place is a hidden gem. It’s a feel-good, great night out in hollywood type of place. No one inside creeped me out and no girl was trying too hard. Everyone was there to have fun. 1. Not a douchey place! Yay! A place I can just go drink & dance without being harassed by weirdos. 2. Cozy dance club/bar with a laid back and dance-y vibe. 3. Go on Thursday for a full-blown 80’s night. My friends & I dressed to the nines and we weren’t the only ones. I think everyone pretty much dressed up. 4. The owner and manager were so welcoming and chill. I felt like I was at a friend’s place. 5. The staff were all cool. From the doorman to the bartender. It was all love.

This place is very pricey, the drinks weren’t that great, and was empty ! Not coming back at all.

Small place. Was here on a Tuesday for an event. Drinks were at a fair price. Hollywood crowed. Typical crowed more people in the smoking are then the venue. Would I come back to the place? maybe. Only for a good reason. Forgot to mention that it was a Dim Mak Records event so Steve Aoki ended up showing up. Very down to Earth guy. Played for about 30 minutes to cheer up the crowed.

Randomly stumbled upon this place. It’s small but really cool. Kind of grungy but in a good way. Good music, nice crowd, super chill. The bouncers and guy at the entrance with the guest list were really nice. No drama getting in. I would definitely come back.

small venue but cool events. The drink prices are a little high and not too strong. I asked for jameson ginger ale and was served jameson club soda. If i had known they didnt have ginger ale, coke would’ve been fine but i guess i have no options. The outside patio is nicer to hang out than the inside. Cool spot to come by during the week if you have the itch to party but no where to go.

I’d read about this place on the blog LAist a few of months ago and shared the link with some other 80s music enthusiast friends and we decided to check this place out for a friend’s bday outing. It’s in the heart of Hollywood, but pretty stealth. It’s tucked behind the huge Supper Club, facing the parking lot, which was convenient, but it was $ 20 to park there, fyi. Then again, no cover for the club(for real!) so I didn’t mind having to pay for parking. There was no line, no velvet rope, no dress code, no obnoxious bouncers or an irritating«club» crowd. Everyone here was so down to earth and just normal, it was an amazingly refreshing change. The club itself is small and cozy, and I loved the décor: it’s got a raw edgy feel to it with the exposed brick walls and vintage magazine-plastered floors, but it’s a clean and well-kept place. FYI, the flush handle for the toilet is up above – it’s one of those old timey-looking toilets and when I went in to use it the previous person had not flushed, ew. All of the seating areas had those typical«Reserved» signs on them so my friends and I were just standing around when the owner of the club came over and told us we could take one of the booths if we’d like, wow! I forget his name, alas, but he was really nice and I had to compliment him on what an awesome place he’d created. When the music got going we weren’t sitting for long, though. We were expecting an 80s night, but it was really a «dance» night, running the gamut from 70s disco to 2010s EDM. Granted, most of the music was from the 80s, but the variety was nice. They also had reasonably-priced drinks, but it did seem like the prices went up as the night went on, so watch out for that. A couple of the bartenders also seemed more interested in hanging out with each other than serving people, unfortunately, but it didn’t dampen the festivities much. This place is for people who just want to DANCE – I think we must’ve danced for 4 hours straight! STEPHJUDGEMENT: An awesomely un-LA joint where it’s just all about dancing and having a good time.

I give this place 5GOLDENSTARS! Wow it was my first time being there and I had the best time of my life. I wish I got the Deejays name, but she did an amazing job. She played the best music. Music I look for in a club and music that I didn’t think anyone knew about. Deep house, 80s, oldies etc. it was just so awesome. Oh! And there’s a food truck outside in the parking lot that sells probably the best carne asada fries I’ve ever had! I’ve gotta go back if not for the club then for the fries lol. So if you’re ever looking to take your date or friends out for a great night I totally recommend Golden Box.

No cover, no dress code, cheap drinks($ 6 beers), and REAL dance music. Please don’t come here looking for 80’s cause its not an 80’s club. Its a DANCE club. Met a co-owner last Saturday and he was very genuine about having a club that avoids all the cliches of Hollywood«dance» clubs and provides the right music, a gracious dance floor, and no hassle drinks and admission. My wife summed it up perfectly when she said its as cool as King King used to be 10 years ago. Come if u wanna dance and avoid the big room crap u hear at Create or Exchange and just groove to some funky-indie-disco-housey jams but get your groove on early — they close at 2!

‘80s music is not rocket science. So I’m really disappointed with the music here. No one gives a shit about ALTERNATIVE ’80’s. We want real 80s music. You know like Duran Duran, Cindy Lauper, Madonna, etc. Ugh! Such a disappointment.

Fantastic 80’s music mixed with a today’s electronic feel. If you want to get away from today’s crappy typical house music then this is the spot for you. With bartenders as nice as Cooper you can’t mess up. Great spot. Great vibes. Happy hour until 10:30. New up and coming bar that is a must find
