In all fairness, the food is good. I know this because I’ve been dining in and getting delivery from this restaurant for years now. Where they fail at is in customer service. The woman who answers the phone– the one who has been there for years– is still… until this very day a snarky, condescending, and completely ignorant being. I definitely don’t recommend getting food delivered. They’ll get your order wrong over and over again and will give you an attitude when you try to tell them.

Was in the mood for some Chinese food so I was looking for a local restaurant so I came upon this one down the street from my house. I called to place an order for delivery and she said that it will take an hour or so I said it was fine I’ll just place the order and pick it up my self and she said it will be ready in a hour still it didn’t make sense so if I go and sit down it will take an hour to get my food. She kept saying it will take a hour or more to make it like she didn’t want my business. I highly don’t recommend this place they don’t want our business here. So please help them out and make it easier for them.

Came across this restaurant through the rushorder delivery app. I think it’s a pretty good Korean-Chinese restaurant in Koreatown. But I don’t think you can really go wrong at a Chinese restaurant unless the noodles are just badly cooked or you’re serving day old food(which is definitely not the case here). They have pretty lunch specials. I usually get the Fried Shrimp with Hot Sauce or the Mongolian Beef. You could probably get a couple bucks off using code ‘hungry3’ on the app.

Amazing service and bomb ass Chinese-Korean food. It’s a small hole in the wall, but it’s one of the spots where they really try to take care of you while you are at the restaurant. I had the Jja jang myun combo and it’s one of my go to spots any time I’m in the area. You don’t want to miss this

BOMB lunch menu. Less than $ 10 for kkang poong shrimp, fried rice, egg role, egg soup, and fried wontons. ALL their lunch menu items are pretty good and is about $ 10 … and alot of food! Of course it is not the cleanest looking but they have been around and in business for a while and the foods good!

Not a fancy spot but who cares?! Their lunch special is what brings me here over and over again. I usually get the Kkangpoong shrimp(sweet and spicy fried shrimp). Comes with an egg roll and fried rice. Ask for sriracha and you’re set.

Was wanting some korean-chinese food and was recommended here from someone who goes here often. Got the Jja Jang Myun, Jjam Bbong & the Tangsooyook Food: Food I would give 2 ½ stars. Maybe it was my expectations being high? Not really. The Jja jang myun was dry and honestly not all that great but there was a lot of it. The Jjam Bbong was ok but have had better elsewhere. Tangsooyook was good. Really oily but good. Customer Service, Atmosphere and Parking: This is one of those«korean» style served places where you have to call for the lady to come for everything. They don’t come by or walk around to check on you or to see if your low on water. They just chill around the kitchen until you call them and even then they don’t seem to happy about it. For a small place in a small plaza you would think they would at least walk by you once or twice but nope not once. Parking is 2 dollars as well. One thing that I was surprised about was that if you have a sticker on your door that shows which cards you take like American Express, if I give you an AMEX, don’t tell me that you don’t take it. If so, then take the American Express sticker off your door. Thank goodness I had another card but if I hadn’t I would’ve been one very upset customer. Prices: Prices are average Rating: 2 out of 5 stars.

My wife and I went to newly opened Heung Rea Gak in Buena Park, Orange County, which is in same mall with Zion Market. Everything looks new and business was so busy. We had ordered 1 ganzajjang, 2in1 combo, and tangsooyuk. 1. Tangsooyuk: &½ over all — Taste: — Presentation : — Price: 2. Ganzajjang: overall — Taste : — 2Ps(presentation & price): 3. 2 in 1 Combo: ½ re. Zajjang & ½ Zambbong: overall — Taste : — 2Ps: 4. Service others: — They servers free sides in cheap plastic plates. Don’t know why. We were basically disappointed and both of us acknowledged that«Wokholic in Buena Park is way better at least in taste.

The jjajjamyung here is STRAIGHTFIRE. So good, I don’t think I have ever slurped up my noodles as quickly as I did. Just amazing.

Horrible customer service!!! I got jajangmyeon, champpong and tangsuyuk, Jajangmyeon and champpong were okay but the tangsuyuk was the worst one I’ve tried in all Chinese/Korean restuarant. Don’t get the tangsuyuk!!! I mean honestly how can you screw up tangsuyuk. Don’t come here, there are much better Chinese restaurants out there in Korea-town.

To say Heung Rae Gak is a representative Korean-Chinese restaurant in L.A. would not be an incorrect statement. This has never been my go-to place for jjamppong & jjajangmyun, but my recent visits has changed my mind. I think they must have changed their chef since a couple of years ago when I was last there. In the last two visits I had the Jjagang, gan jjajang, jjamppong, tang soo yook(sweet & sour pork), and kung pao chicken. The noodles had that ideal taste you remember from the days in Korea. I find that even in Korea these days, that traditional taste is difficult to find so this was a pleasant surprise. I remember couple of years ago, I did not like their jjajangmyun taste. The real winner, however, was the kung pao chicken. That was absolutely delicious! I come here always for the Korean-Chinese dishes, but I will have to make a point to try some of the more typical Chinese dishes as this one was outstanding. The tang soo yook’s sauce is a bit different and really good as is the deep fry, but the meat tastes a bit gamey. I would recommend getting the sauce on the side. The service has always been very good, and price is typical. As Korean-Chinese dishes go, Heung Rae Gak is among the best in town. Table-for-1 Factor: As with most K-C places, it is one of the only types of Korean restaurants where you will feel comfortable eating on your own.

Always go here for their jajangmyeon. Even for Koreatown it’s pretty hard to find a place that serves a good jajangmyeon, so I was very excited when I discovered Heung Rae Gak. Perfect amount of sauce in comparison to the noodles. They also do delivery through the RushOrder app, which is awesome since it’s my favorite food delivery app. If you plan on ordering from the app, use the promocode«HUNGRY3» for some discounts :)

Get your noodle fix here everyone! Love all their Cha chan miens. Didn’t realize there was more than one kind. The best one is the spicy cha chan mien, IMO Their chow ma mein(or champpong) is pretty good too. Unlike the sauciness in the the cha chan mein, the Chow ma mein, is noodles in a soupy broth.

Tried their standard jajangmyeon, spicy jajangmyeon, spicy seafood soup, and their sweet and sour shrimp. I would definitely come back for the spicy jajangmyeon and deep fried shrimp with sweet and sour sauce, but not really for the other noodles, nothing wrong with them, but if you come here and like spicy food, you should get their spicy jajangmyeon otherwise you would feel like you got the wrong noodle. In it they give a lot of spicy sauce made with ground pork so that you can finish the whole thing and not just part of it

Friendly customer service! A Chinese restaurant owned by Koreans, haha. Kim chi is offered as a side dish here. Cha cha mein was good, but I expected the noodles to be more chewy? They have regular and double size. If you don’t normally eat a lot, I would recommend the regular even if you are sharing! Worth a try, but I wouldn’t come back sadly.

Bleh. I have heard so much about this place from a family member, friends and people on the web. I guess they are famous for their Jjajangmyun and I really was looking for a decent place for Jjajangmyun in Koreatown besides the ones I always go to. I went and this place had a really long waitlist. The owner said its not going to take that long so we waited. We waited more than 30 minutes and got seated. We ordered right away as they handed us the pot of hot tea. Never got our tea cups and so I asked for them. Got it after five minutes or so. Our food this come out for I dont know how long. My Gan Jjajangmyun came out faster than a regular Jjajangmyun which was in the same tray as they brought it, however, they gave it to another table. I hate it when everyone in my party gets their their food at different times. So my friend waited for another 15 minutes for his and we still didnt get out Kung Pao Shrimp which I saw a server giving it to the table behind us who ordered wayy after us. I asked to cancel our order of Kung Pao Shrimp simply because we were tired of waiting and their service was just HORRIBLE. I felt really bad for these elderly couple who were seated at the same time as us did not get their food at all not even one even when we were leaving the restaurant. That was cray. Jjajangmyun wasnt as good as what everyone said and I am not coming back here.

When I visit my family in Los Angeles we always make it a point to stop by Heung Rae Gak for some Korean-Chinese comfort food classics like jijiangmyeon, champon, and Tang Soo Yook. Located in a non-descript strip mall in Koreatown with limited parking, but with the fast turnover at this location, you can find a spot after a short wait. Heung Rae Gak is a no-frills hole-in-the wall style Korean-Chinese restaurant with limited English so be sure to bring a Korean speaker with you. I recommend ordering; the jijianmyeon which is noodles served with a black bean and pork sauce, the champon which is noodle served with a spicy seafood broth, and Tang Soo Yook which is the Korean version of sweet and sour sauce. The service at this restaurant is brusque and may seem cold to Westerners, but is pretty standard for this type of restaurant. To get service, you have to bark at one of the servers, but if you’re not comfortable with that there are call buttons at each table to alert them that you want something. Good luck and happy dining!

Parking can be a crunch here, so carpooling is a must! This place is rightfully described as a Korean-Chinese restaurant, as both the owners and kitchen staff are Korean. Here, you can find many Chinese dishes such as dumplings with Korean touches, such as kimchi and takuan on the side. Unfortunately, no banchan are served with the meal. To keep up with the Chinese theme, food is served in such huge portions that parties can’t help but share their dishes with each other family style. I had the seafood jjangmyeon, which was delicious but a slight disappointment. The noodles were the round kind that you would find in an Italian restaurant and not the flat rice noodle that I was looking for. However, the seafood was really fresh and top quality and I love the fact that the noodles and toppings were separated so that I could control how much sauce I wanted to consume.
