Cool place to get a much needed beer. They have decent craft BEEER(bottled), it’s not a huge variety but around highland park? A good amount. Check it out.

Seriously this is a great place to check out if you like divey bars and craft beers. It’s across from the Hermasillo highland park brewing. There’s also a taco truck down the block that serves you the most amazing Al Pastor burritos! Parking is on the street and free if you can find it.

This place is legit. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn’t too crowded. Bloody marys were made strong and super tasty. They had free BBQ for everyone inside too which was extremely nice of them to do considering we all had the alcohol munchies.

I LOVE this bar, actually my fav!!! The first time i went with a friend we couldn’t stop going lol! The only sucky thing now about it is the waiting to get in. The exceeding amount sucks. Small but do able. Love the drinks! The music is always great! Very home like and chill. People with good vibes.

My friends and i like to go after work its a nice bar. But its sad when the bartender ‘s think your stupid all because we are having a few beers. They want to over charge us. We decided to go else where. Very sad ! To have people like that for customer service.

Whoa Johnny, I have a 2 drink limit at your establishment because the pours are Strong! Invited to celebrate a friend’s bday on Saturday night, husband and I found some street parking a block away. There’s no sign, but just go where all the people are. Great mix of music from Patsy Cline to the Ramones; people were requesting from the Jukebox. Awesome. There’s a big screen playing movies. Those strong pours are only $ 7. Why didn’t we stay longer? The smell of the hot dog cart & taco cart, wafted inside. Yep, we ran outside to grab those tasty treats. Fun place.

This bar has it all. I love coming to Los Angeles to my second home. Johnny”s bar! We have many bars in New York but Johnny’s has what we look for. My wife and I go home and brag about the places we enjoy and this is the one we start with. Great service, fun people and a heck of a way to spend your free time.

This place was cool a couple years back when I first stumbled upon it and its sure as cool as shit still today. This place has cheap drinks, great music, ample seating, tasty vibes, and pretty ladies. People are friendly and approachable at this place but then again whenever you’re out to have a good time everything just seems to fall into place. A great place to start the night or just stick around all night till last call. They got TVs in here with games playing, but I don’t think the patrons really care about sports. No matter, I liked being to catch up on the days games over drinks and good tunes with the homies. Definitely a favorite, hope it lasts and keeps cool

Makers and a PBR tallboy for $ 12. Security guard and bartenders are wicked nice. This is a bar I’d love to be a local at!

I approached the bar last night and ordered a beer. The bartender took my credit card and said, «I’ll keep it open for you.». I didn’t think anything of it. After deciding I had enough, as this wasn’t my first stop, I went to close my tab. The bartender then told me there is a ten dollar minimum. This caught me off guard for two reasons. First, he had failed to mention this when I first ordered. And secondly, bars should not be in the buisness of over serving their guest. I explained to him that I had drank enough and did not want to consume any more alcohol he just looked at me and said, «It’s just our policy.». Long story short, I was forced to drink more than I should have because I was paying with my card instead of cash. I will not return.

Awesome bar on York blvd! Laid back, drinking bar. Feels rough, but really one of the friendliest joints in town. Darts, pinball, photo booth.

Lame place. This small bar gets packed with a bunch of idiots. Avoid this and anything else in ghetto Highland Park. The customer service is real bad. Only get worse each time.

This is a pretty small bar. its a cool place to chill and get some drinks. its very easy to socialize here. the type of crowd that comes here is pretty chill and gets pretty crowded sometimes so if u want to get a table make sure u get here earlier. the bartenders are cool. make sure you tip.

One of my favorite bars to just grab a drink or hangout with my friends. You mostly find locals that come around to hangout here. The staff is always friendly and have alot of patience to deal with my friends’ debauchery. Drink prices are cheap.

Love Love Love! This place has it all, cheap drinks, dodger games, great selection on the jukebox and most importantly great staff. Mando is amazing and is always so helpful, even when he is super busy he acknowledges you that he will be right with you. Stop by for a beer!

My favorite Bar in the neighborhood! Each has its own unique atmosphere but non feel like home except for Johnny’s and for good reason. Before all the recent changes in the neighborhood(gentrification) Johnny’s opened. Beers prices have remained relatively stable and patrons are steadfastly open-minded and tolerant of all sorts of archetypes and personalities. Sure they catch flak from outsiders and haters for remaining inclusive but that doesn’t mean the Bar has stayed the same without upgrading. Recently they added an additional 20 taps or so and have switched from the bland sours that come from the buttoned Gun behind the Bar to fresh squeezed sours and syrups made daily for use in all cocktails made by the tenders. and speaking of.. . Chelsea can twist a cocktail better than any bartendress ever has. She will keep you filled up too. One need only hint at which flavor your leaning towards and she can whip up about fifteen different versions of what you didn’t even realize you couldn’t drink without. Zac, Mando, John, Chelsea, Johanna, Kaylee, Ramon, Tim and Patrick are all family now and they all can take good care of you. Cheers!

This place is okay. The servers were nice, but beer prices are certainly not $. But… They have an ACDC pinball machine! It’s worth checking out, but you probably won’t find me hanging out here.

My new favorite hangout. Great beers on tap and an awesome beer list. It’s a little small so when it’s packed it’s kind of loud but I accept this. I dig the regulars. Super friendly guys. Don’t let the exterior fool you. It’s a great place.

This review is for the doorman on the night of June 13th. I came here with a group of friends of about 10 with intentions of purchasing drinks since we were all celebrating our birthday month. Keep in mind, we don’t look like a bunch of thugs or acted rowdy. It wasn’t even crowded inside at all. We have never been denied entrance into a bar until we came to johnnys. The doorman could’ve acted civil and explained why he couldn’t let us in but instead he said«because I said so». He let a couple of people in and couldn’t even make eye contact with us. We took our business elsewhere.

Great atmosphere, good drinks and cool people BUT the doorman is something else. Make sure when you come in the bar is not«overcapacity» otherwise he’d let in only women, NOGUYS! Yep. Such a bummer!!! Good luck!!!

So you have decided to descend into hipster land and ended up near the york. You cant get in since their are hipsters everywhere including half in half out of the joint and a ton of them are smoking so hard they must have chimneys in their heads… So what is Plan B? Ohhhh head west a few buildings and enjoy a relaxed non hipster infused(well not as bad as the York shall we say) Johnny’s Bar. They have you covered with cheap well drinks, kinda high priced call drinks, and a smaller beer selection. I enjoyed this dive. While they dont serve food, they have a fun environment. The walls have a built in wrap-around booths along the edge. They have movable cushions chairs and tables so you can create a cozy group specific set up however you would like it to be. I love being able to do that. On top of that, they have some fun ancillary items here: ping pong table — Beer pong anyone? fooseball table — Tourney time? photobooth — for those who dont want to do standard selfies. Ok the bouncer dude seemed a bit weird to me. I am not exactly sure why but something just seemed amiss there. The bartenders were fine but not spectacular. The restrooms were super dingy and I suggest finding a shrubbery outside instead =P None the less there are at least a few good times to be had here if not more than that. I enjoyed it and so did my friends who were here when I was as well. Perhaps I will see you chillen here sometime as well…
