The first Korean restaurant I visited in LA. I ordered intestine soup for two. Good old comfort food. The portion was huge. Side dishes can be improved. The lady was nice. Understand how some people can be misguided by her look, but as a Korean, understand how some people just don’t know how to express. But hey as long as the food is satisfying, can’t complain. Will definitely return.

I was craving homemade korean food by mom… But since we’re visiting and our hotel doesn’t have kitchenette we went to Jong Ga Jip. The plaza didn’t have valet parking during lunch so that was thumbs up! Right when we went inside, I saw old elderly people only. So I thought it might not be good… but oh my my! We order combo C, it had soybean paste stew, bulgogi, spicy stir-fried squid, pan-fried fish(I think it was mackerel) and some side dishes. Side dishes were small one person portion, but altogether was enough for me and my mother, and my son(he didn’t eat much). And of course, there were left overs since it was just TOO much for us. Food taste: TWOTHUMBSUP! My mother and I kept telling the waitress(owner?) it was so delirious we really love it! But her responses were like… l uh, yeah I know my food are great! I hear that all the time’ look on her face. HAHA So if you’re craving homemade korean food by your mama try out this place!

Why does this place have 3 stars?! I can only speak to lunch, but they’ve got the best banchan n lunch specials in ktown… n I know my banchan n lunch specials! The flavor of their banchan is amaze-balls… And the pork bulgogi with choice of chigae(i’m not a fan of any chigae tho) is the yummiest for carnivores. The fish lunch meals are good too. Parking is a breeze and free; quiet and spacious for lunch. Great service too.

Food and Korean water were good. They could’ve offered more of that water, but they didn’t. Overall, the food was good.

This is homey Korean food. Service was great the lady was very nice. We ordered #2 and got an amazing spread for two people. They have a great selection of side dishes and they give you the purple rice. Would def come here again! This is the place to go for a decent meal worth your price.

I came here always for the E myun soo goo ee(grilled mackerel). As always, this didn’t disappoint me. However, we also ordered a dwenjang jjigae(soy-paste soup?). This did really was unsatisfying. It was sooo salty with too much dwenjang. I really like salty food but even for me, this was a little too much for me even with the rice. There were only about two or three other tables occupied besides us, so it was easy to catch their attention for our needs. Even though it wasnt busy at the timr we came in, they didnt bring out any side dishes until after the food came out. I dont know if that was done on purpose or by mistake. The side dishes werent even that good either. It was just plain very typical korean side dishes. They didnt really help my appetite. The food is just average, parking is a bit small for the size of the mall, but theres valet available during busy time. Overall, the interior was clean and nice but the food just wasnt as good.

If you’re looking for AYCE, this isn’t the place. If you’re looking for grills at the tables, this isn’t the place. If you’re looking for really good, traditional Korean food, this is your place. The food and sides were very tasty. We enjoyed the $ 9.99 /person special. Excellent food and quite a bit of it. My picky Korean Mom was even impressed.

Food is whatever. Not great or anything but not bad. The waitress was mean tho. Bad service. She got mad that me and a friend only ordered one dish although it was like $ 20 something dollars for that one dish. Anyway when we left, she didn’t even say thank you come again or anything. Just stated. I hate it when restaurants doesn’t clean up tables right away. There were three tables that had to be cleaned up when we got there and still needed to be cleaned as we left. I just find it gross

the waitress was very rude. the korean old lady(sorry) wasn’t smiling at all. she didn’t look happy and i didn’t feel good with her attitute. she looked very tired and just sit down at the table read a newspaper. she never asked me what i needed for. even my water glass was empty but she ignored that… i couldn’t believe why i left $ 5 tip for her. am i crazy? once i asked her to bring me the bigger to-go box, she complained to me… omg… i went to k-town to have a dinner with my daughter. for foods, sorry, it was not worth to pay more than other places… do not go this place.

Mediocre korean restaurant which attempts to being more high end with their course meals. Expensive and not memorable. Some things were good, some weren’t. I wouldn’t ever come here if I wanted nice course meals like that. I would however like to comeback to try their fish jorims.

Me and my coworkers used to come here to get dinner sometimes, when I used to work at a place around the block about 2 years ago. And I haven’t been here since I left my old job. So the other night, I decided to try this place out again with one of my friend. As usual, the parking lot was packed! and oddly, this time it was only valet parking, but it wasn’t a big deal because it’s only $ 1. I ordered Yook-Gae-Jang, and my friend ordered Kimchi Jigae. and While we were waiting for our food, our waitress left so this slightly older lady started waiting our table. All of the banchans were okay, but it was a ted bit garlicky for my taste, but aren’t Korean food supposed to be garlicky? And our orders came out, and both of our soups were great! My yook-gae-jang was really spicy, but it is supposed to be! But since both of our soups were so spicy, we were drinking a lot of water to cool it down a bit. so we asked the lady for some extra water, she was sitting by the cash register and when we asked for more water she just frowned and rolled her eyes like wtf? and she literally almost threw the pitcher of water on our table and just walked away. HOWRUDE?! I would’ve gave this place a 4 stars, but this lady just ruined it! Aside from this lady being extremely rude to us, food was okay. But I remembered it to be so much better 2 years ago. maybe their cook changed or something idk.

Will definitely try this place. Thanks Teddy. To Peter. I have to discount your opinion, the Korean food on West 32nd is awful. Talk about disappointment.

Think of this place as a mom & pop version of Yong Susan, one of the best Korean places around. My girlfriend’s parents saw an ad for the place and fourof us went there for lunch. Rather than stress out about what to order, we decided to go for two $ 39.99 combos. The amount of food was plenty and the variety was downright impressive. Besides the wide array of banchan — which was terrific and not oily, we had bossam(pork) kalbi(beef short ribs) gaejang(crab) grilled fish korean miso soup I was so impressed by the meal, we went back the next week for dinner and then ordered the $ 29.99 combo for dinner. It was equally good. When I eat here, it reminds me of the famous Korean drama about the woman who cooked for the king, Jewel of the Palace. For the money, this place won’t disappoint. For those of you who have never tried Korean food, other than BBQ, I highly recommend this experience.

all the bancha is pretty oily. but the grilled yellow croaker(?) fish is good. the portion is big(2 big ones) but so is the price. the egg soup is not bad. i wanted it to be spicier. and that the eggs didn’t come loose from the sac. it’s a typical mom and pop korean restaurant. it seems they have lunch specials. the grilled fish and den jang jjigae for 8.99 $

We landed in LAX at 9:30AM, picked up our luggage got our rental car and went straight to Korea town. After Unilocal-preparation, I wrote down three top rate restaurants. As we drove into K-town, we were surprised with all of the stores. Now it’s 11. Dong II Jang Restaurant wasn’t open or no one was in the parking lot. We couldn’t find Chunju Han-il Kwan or Soot Bull Jeep. Oh well, let’s drive into this small shopping type center. The parking lot is packed and there is an attendant that watches you like a hawk if you are really a customer in any of the stores. Very odd. Enter Jong Ga Jip. The menu is strictly Korean. We order beer, but all they had were large Hites. Damn. We order Kimchi Jigae and Daeji Gogi(pork). All of the banchan was salty. The only saving grace was the pork. I’m disappointed by my west side brethren. IFHTP1
