I loved this nice sit down version of a Japanese and Korean restaurant. I felt like I was back in Korea when I entered this hotel in koreatown. We ordered the Japanese lunch special box and the Korean lunch special box. The banchan(side dishes) that came out before the meal were excellent, and the salad was great too. The Japanese lunch special was my favorite, with thick cuts of tuna, salmon, and white fish. There was also a small portion of cooked salmon, which was also delicious. The udon that came with it was great too. A lunch special box is definitely enough to share between two people– I was very full by the end of this meal! The fruit and tea after the meal is a nice way to help you digest it all too. A great place to meet with people in town for a nice lunch or dinner!

Came here for dinner with my family and loved it! I think other Unilocalers don’t appreciate the classic design of an old school hotel. The décor is a little outdated, but it’s classy. Their dinner/lunch combos are awesome and filling. I had the uni dinner combo which had a pallet of uni with a ton of mixed sashimi and other goodies. Boyfriend had the galbi jim(braised short ribs) and loved it. The Korean dinner combo came with everything you could want. I would definitely encourage people to come and check this place out. Valet parking is free, just tip the guys.

This is one of the worst services that I have received. My daughter has a nut allergy and after having one bite of the salad, she started to react. We asked the servers if there were any nuts in the salad dressing, they said yes and just walked away after being informed that my daughter was having a reaction. The food came out late and they were really didn’t care that it was late even after we had asked. I will never come back!

Decent place to stay. Valet parking only. It’s a Korean hotel and that is kind of neat. Food in the hotel is pricey. I suggest going down the street. The hallways were hit, but the room temperature could be adjusted.

I stay here often when I have a late dinner meeting in LA. Mostly Korean customers stay here. It’s nice but it’s not a 4star hotel. It would really be nice if they have some kind of reward problem to distinguish regular customers and tourist who comes from Korea. Sometime I come often as 4x a month but yet, there is no acknowledgement. The price is little high but there isn’t really a lot of hotel choices in Koreatown.

Had to have an important family gathering at a discrete/private yet convenient location in Koreatown. There aren’t many of such venues around here. Well this place fit the bill. Food was good, service was excellent. The servers knew how to serve respectably and with care. Reservation was a breeze. And it being a hotel, the valet service was great. Remember this is a restaurant inside a hotel; the selling point is the atmosphere and the service. The food is good enough. This restaurant executes quite superbly in that regards.

Found a coupon online and went for a try. Locate around Korean town, so it is hard to compete. But the restaurant stay inside the hotel does give a bit different from other restaurants on the street. The atmosphere is pretty good, no rush and you can enjoy your meal. Service is great, the waitress is nice, take your order and serve you the food promptly. You could ring the electronic bell on the table if you need anything, otherwise, they will stay in the back and not bother you. The food is good. We tried the Chirashi bowl. The fish is ok, not excellent. Size is good. Price is ok. We also tried the Sea eel rice. The eel taste good, has a lot of meat in it. But the bowl is a little bit small. One more nice thing is they serve both Japanese food and Korean food. Not a lot of restaurant has both together.

Found this restaurant on and went there for lunch with my friend. Tranquility was what I first feel when stepping foot into Oxnard Palace Hotel and then proceeded to Take Sushi. It is a feeling that I don’t find in other Korea Town restaurant. I would certainly recommend this place to people who would like to have a Japanese/Korean meal at a place where they can feel relaxed and have a conversation with their companions in Korea Town. Although the restaurant is part of the hotel, price range is no difference than other restaurants. I often think that Korean restaurants don’t offer enough vegetables, this restaurant offers cold cut vegetables and cabbage and lettuce salad in buffet style with excellent home made dressing for the guests. The valet parking for a tip only.

Not the best sashimi and not the best Korean food in the city, but it was still good. The restaurant is located in a hotel with a nice lobby. The presentation of the food was also very nice. I walked away thinking, this would be a perfect place to take my parents but I would probably not return on my own. Although they’d probably make a comment about the price.

This place was good, and the panchan is sufficient, but not excessive. The thing that confused me was that the food came out… moderately warm. Almost as if they warmed it up then let it sit for a little before bringing it out. I’m not necessarily complaining, but it didn’t really seem fresh to me. I don’t know, maybe I’m just overanalyzing because I still think the food was delicious. A little pricey, but the ambiance fits it. If you’re looking for a nicer upscale Korean/Japanese restaurant to go to and want to impress a gold-digging date, go here.

Nice restaurant. Great date type of place for couples. It’s located inside a hotel so it’s a little over the expensive side. But luckily I saved some money because I purchased a groupon for this restaurant. Service is slow but the staff are attentive to their customer.

Excellent breakfast… Great panchan(side dishes). Very prompt service. I had the mackerel and soup for breakfast. Also have eaten sushi for lunch before. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a traditional Korean breakfast and sushi for lunch or dinner.

I went to this place just because I got a groupon. I took a friend not sure how much food we would be able to get for a $ 35 limit. I walked away STUFFED beyond belief. It’s not the highest quality sushi ever but for the price it’s really decent. I’ll go back. They have a salad bar you can help yourself too that is pretty good, then they bring you little appetizer dishes of stuff to try, miso soup, whatever you order from the menu(and its large portions), then a plate of fruit for desert. I ordered a poke bowl/salad thing. ive never had anything like it but i LOVED it!!! it reminded me of a poke bowl but ontop of a bed of spring mix. they had a good sweet chili sause to put on top plus wasabi and soy sauce. omgsh i loved it. it was so different. I can’t believe my friend and i split it and i walked away paying $ 8.

I love the Corean’s take on sushi. I’d rather consider it sashimi because hardly any of the dishes are served with rice. You will stuff yourself eating at this place. Sit at the bar and enjoy what the chefs cut up and serve you. I wanted to try the live shrimp but the item was not in season. My folks come here now and then when in LA and I had my first visit late December. If you are familiar with Corean sushi(a.k.a. hwe), this spot is worth trying.

I had a rather unique dining experience here with a friend last week. Take is located in a nice hotel on a dodgy part of Los Angeles. It’s hard to find, but they do have free valet parking. We were on our way to a Country concert and quite under dressed for the semi elegant dining room. I would say that this is more if a business casual attire restaurant. We had a Groupon, but I thought that the prices were ridiculous for the food that we ate. The menu items are half Korean and half Japanese. We ordered California Rolls as appetizers. It was a very large portion, but nothing spectacular. I had tempura udon for my main course and have had much better for half the price. My friend ordered the Dolsot Bibimbap, which he enjoyed and of which our server informed us that it was a favorite dish of Michael Jackson. No, M.J. has not dined at Take! We kept getting little surprises that I called«Bonus Food». After ordering we were told about the salad bar– cabbage, chopped veggies and a dressing assortment. They also brought several small plates of Korean appetizers to our table. They brought us very good miso soup. We also were brought a large plate of fresh fruit for dessert. None of the food was amazing, but it was certainly plentiful. The servers were competent and helpful, although not overly friendly. On our table we discovered a bell to ring for service. We didn’t use it and neither did the other patrons. It could have quickly become very annoying, especially since the restaurant was quiet as a library!

I actually mistakenly booked a dinner here at this fake Take Sushi. I was shooting for traditional Japanese sushi at Take Sushi Restaurant & Japanese Cuisine on 8866 W Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood. Anyways, I tried to be open minded and try it out as I had rushed and purchased a Groupon there. Instead of Japanese style sushi, I got quite a different experience: 1) the ambience is not like a fun, casual sushi house but more like a mature atmosphere congruent with the hotel that it is in and conducive for a business mtg. I was on a date, not at a business mtg. 2) service was ok… once I learned to help myself. After waiting around a few minutes, I was told that I can go grab a self-service salad(raw and old sliced vegetables that you can pile on to a small plate with dressing). I am calling the veggies old bc they had visible white streaks on them and loss of that fresh color. Later, I realized during the meal that after they dropped off the food, they do not come back(not to refill your water, not to ask how things are going). Eventually, I figured out that there was a button at the end of the table, which I used to call for help since I was dehydrating. Waitresses were older Korean women that demonstrated suspect English ability. The sushi chefs were Korean men that were eating and preparing sushi in the open. The unprofessionalism of eating while cooking would not fly at a real restaurant but the unsanitary lack of washing hands between eating food with their hands and preparing fish with the same hands was not acceptable by any standard. 3) the food was disappointing and overpriced. Dinner menu consists of around 15 Japanese dishes and 10 Korean dishes mostly around $ 20 or more.(The California roll was $ 12 but avocados aren’t that expensive last time I checked. $ 17 for a Rainbow Roll? I don’t know as I didn’t try.) I tried the«Sushi Combo.» The description of that dish was a cut and paste of the chirashi(e.g., «fish on a bed of sushi rice…») so I had to ask them to make sure that the sushi was nigiri not chirashi(waitress clarified it was nigiri). The fish were poor quality for the price of $ 25 and made me wonder if it was even sushi-grade. I am not an expert but I can tell the difference between poor, ok, and good quality fish. The fish cuts that were served were between poor and ok(it was not flown in from Japan like a traditional sushi chef would do). In particular, the red snapper had so many ligaments I was not able to chew it successfully(Please allow me to explain that I have a full set of healthy teeth and I tried for a full minute before giving up.). By the way, serving kimchi veggies ruins the taste of sushi eaten in that same meal. I love kimchi and all but I just would not pair it would delicate foods such as sushi. So you would think their Korean dishes were good, right? WRONG! I got their Dolsot Bibimbap(stone bowl with rice, veggies, and meat). However, they broke the cardinal law of Asian food, DONOTMESSUPTHERICE! Their rice was oversoaked with water such that it was mushy like oatmeal or porridge. 4) I think I’ve already made my point, but I need to write this fourth item(perhaps for the sake of my own catharsis). I showed them an electronic copy of my Groupon but they needed a print out of my Groupon. They explained that their accountant, who was not there, processed the Groupons. So they needed to keep a paper copy for the accountant, therefore mobile coupon was not ok. So much for my eco-deed of the day. I was forced to go ask the hotel staff who were nice enough to help me print out my Groupon. I would have given them two stars(since I was on the fence between one and two) but this was the piece of paper that broke the camel’s back and slid the rating down to one star. To respond to the other raters, if this is the best in town, K-town has a ways to go and it should make ppl go away to the Sunset strip for the real Take Sushi. Not fresh and tasty enough to warrant the price. I’m never going back even with a printed out Groupon.

Hidden inside a small Korean hotel, this Korean style Japanese restaurant is easily missed. Too bad because it’s one of the best in town. Usually, you get what you pay for. That’s pretty much the case here with high prices with high quality food and service to match. Their sashimi course(like a tasting menu) is the best in town, but expect to pay $ 10 – 15 more pp than wassada, sungbaksa, neptune’s, etc. But for the boost in price you will receive in return noticeably better food and service. I love the live shrimp and then the deep fried shrimp heads that follow — could eat a dozen of these. Live octopus and uni are also ridiculous! Generous servings of toro AND yellowtail belly? I can go on and on and on and on and on. This is my «go to» place for client meals in ktown cuz they have various sized private rooms. If sashimi is not your thing, try the braised cod or maeuntang — both are absolutely fantastic and made with huge portions of the freshest fish! They have affordable lunch specials too. Don’t come here for California rolls or spicy tuna(Noshi sushi dominates those rolls). Street parking is tough buy they have free valet.
