I love this healthier version of tacos! Great choice for vegans and vegetarians.

Great tacos, excellent customer service and the kale agua fresca is addicting. The tacos are carefully crafted to satisfy all you cravings. Crunchy kale salad, mojo dressing, salsa picante and lean carne asada. Definitely a winnner!

Flavorful, fresh, and healthy Mexican food. Working down the street, for years I’ve wished their were more healthy options to eat out in Boyle Heights. Luckily LA1st St Taqueria delivers. Homemade tortillas, fresh veggies, and perfectly cooked and seasoned meats. The cooking here is refreshing: light on grease and salt, but tasty and full of flavor. My favorites are the fish tacos(just perfect), tostadas de tinga, and their soups are a treat when you’re feeling under the weather.

Love love this place!!! Whenever im craving tacos but dont want to feel bad after i will go here. The toppings on the salad are healthy enough to not make me feel bad about eating so many tacos their al pastor was delicious! The tortillas are handmade, and their green drink was good too. I wish there were more tables to bring more friends

I love tacos !!! Anytime. It’s a very small place however anytime I come here it’s after the lunch rush 2pm or before closing right around 8pm. No crowds and plenty of street parking. I hate that people compare this place to other tacos !! Hint hint …(Guisados) they are different but equally delicious. You won’t feel guilty after eating tacos again accompanied by a kale juice that is !!(I was a bit skeptical because kale it’s too bitter for me but the kale juice is not at all bitter it was quite refreshing) I brought my friend for some tacos and he ended up ordering tostadas de tinga. which is shredded chicken with chipotle sauce on a tostada topped with avocado. Omg, I got to try his and they are delicious that’s exactly what I am getting next time.

All options are very good and fresh. Soups and chicken burritos are my fav. The burritos have veggies and kale and taste delicious. Salsas are really flavorful. Everything is made to order. Staff is friendly and helpful. I always love supporting this family owned business!

Move over, Guisados! This place is truly amazing. I almost hesitate to write this review because I don’t want it to get crowded and lame. My sister introduced me to La 1st Street this afternoon — go figure, she introduced me to everything yummy/cool I’ve ever eaten/done(including Guisados 5 years ago). They warmly greeted her by name and took our orders immediately. We both got the chancluditas tacos with kale juices. The tacos were out of this world — a gazillion times better than any of the vegetarian or pescatarian options at Guisados. The cheese is melted, tortillas thick, veggies fresh, and sauces on point. Each taco is piled so high you’ll have to hesitate a sec to formulate a game plan for attack(see pic). Kale juice was pulpy and refreshing. A few last bits: Service is perfect — sweet, considerate workers. There are two tables outdoors, under umbrellas. Parking is aplenty on the street. Prices are HELLACHEAP for what you get. What are you waiting for?!

Seriously surprised to find such a gem! The food is authentic and great. Still modern with the latest health trends. They do a kale topping instead of traditional cilantro and onions on their tacos and a kale drink with chia seeds. Make all their own food! It’s all very delicious. The décor is simple and urban and the service is great. I will definitely be back for more very soon!

I’m going to be honest here, I first wanted to go to Un Solo Sol but it was closed. I was starving so I walked a little and saw this place. Thank God I did! :) I’m trying to eat healthier so I wanted to eat some vegetarian food and let’s just say this hit the spot! It was so good that Im still thinking about it lol. I got a veggie taco and lentil soup and I can guarantee anyone will like the tofu taco even if you claim to not like tofu. Overall great food and even better service. Owner was extremely attentive, nice and funny. I will definitely be back!!!

Solid Taco Joint with a healthy twist. If you’re into that check them out. This is not your typical taco spot. I have been coming here since they opened about a year ago. I usually get a veggie burrito with cheese and an egg. The kale Juice is a must try for any newbies stopping in. Jamburguesas are good but they don’t beat out a traditional Torta. Good People. Good Sauces.

This place is darned good. Let me tell you what makes this place different: Imagine your favorite taco stand fused with your favorite superfood restaurant. Delicious but still healthy! And it’s right in Boyle Heights and still has that authentic taco feel too! Doesn’t sound possible I know but they pulled it off! Unlike most taco spots where you go for the grease and crispy bits, these tacos are light, healthy and fresh. Their hand made tortillas are thick and filling but still light and crisp… when you top that off with kale, cucumber and radish it makes for an amazing combination. I tried the chicken tacos which were shockingly good, really savory chunks of white chicken meat. I also really liked the veggie taco too! They serve a delicious kale drink that puts Naked juice to shame. It’s right in Boyle Heights and close to my work. Great atmosphere, friendly people who let their food speak for the self. Check it out!

I heart taco! One day, we came across LA1st Taqueria on 1st street and Boyle(edge of Little Tokyo and the Art district). This place is pretty small like half of Baskin Robin ice cream size. You can sit inside or outside. I usually order one fish and beef tacos from here for $ 4 dollars(only $ 2 dollars per taco). They have other stuff too. Check out the picture I took of the menu! Soon as you order, the other worker cook everything in front of you. Their taco is fresh and delicious because they add vegetables and their special white sauce! The workers recognize me now that I don’t have to say anything and he brings out what I want. Lol! Nice people! Tips: If you want to come here during lunch, try to come at 12pm noon because it gets kind of crowed here and do not forget to ask for their hot sauce!

When I saw kale on as an ingredient in some of the menu items, I got skeptical. Here I was, looking for tacos, and I managed to stumble into some hipster joint? Nope. They have brilliantly incorporated kale and other veggies into traditional Mexican menu items. The service was very friendly, and the food was served up rather quickly. The prices are a bit high for the area, but the quality is well worth it.

This place is great. They put a kale cabbage salad instead of onions/cilantro on the tacos and top with cucumber, radishes and carrot, all seasoned and dressed to perfection. The meat is quality and tasty and the tortillas taste fresh. They have Turkey Chorizo! Which for someone who doesn’t eat pork this is amazing! Their amazing and cheap kale drink is awesome! Kale, pineapple, chia, lime, and cucumber!!! Being a block away from mariachi square lends an amazing ambience to the restaurant. Definitely a must eat. The owner works there and is super chill and friendly. Good tacos. Good vibe.

This place is a hidden gem in the LA area. The food is made to order, its fresh and the staff are AMAZING. The owner is a GREAT guy and you are treated like family here. We found this place on Unilocal when looking for someplace close to USC where my wife is undergoing treatment for cancer and can only eat a certain diet. This place allows her to do that and allows me to enjoy some of the BEST home cooked Mexican food you will find for a price you won’t believe. I have had the Burrito which is unlike any I have ever had before. The Albondigas soup, OFFTHEHOOK!!! Las Jamburgesas are simply AMAZING, the Veggie Taco’s are simple but very tasty. The place is not very big with limited seating inside and only 2 small tables outside so if you come in during lunch time, you may have to get your food to go, but rest assured it is made fresh to order and will be exactly the same as if you ate there. We have been here twice and we will be back. It is easy to get to but parking may be a little bit of a challenge but worth every bite. Not only is the food AMAZING, the drinks AMAZING, the STAFF make this place and like I said, you are treated like family each and every time. This is authentic food made with love in every order and this is a place I can support over and over. I encourage you if you are in the area to give this place a try.

Ive been dying to try this place ever since I found it on Unilocal but just never got around to it. Fortunately for me today was finally the day :)! Unilocalers, I am very happy to report that this place was pretty gosh darn delicious. We ordered 2 jamburgesas(1 pollo and 1 carne asada) with a large kale lemonade. The jamburgesas themselves were very tasty, bread was light and fluffy, meat was very perfectly cooked, and the kale/veggies gave everything an extra boost of freshness. Oh and I must say, I was really impressed by the kale lemonade. It was a nice twist on traditional aguas frescas. I definitely plan on going back for some more jamburgesas and to try some of the other stuff on the menu :))) In sum, its a cool little spot with good food and good people. go check it out !

This is a super cool little spot. It’s pretty tiny and it has bar seating for a total of about 12 people. I’ve taken my orders to go each time I’ve been. I went for the first time a little over a month ago and I loved it. I ordered the Jamburgesa de asada(torta) and it was delicious! It was definitely different as it was filled with cabbage, kale, radishes and carrots in addition to the traditional ingredients such as beans and carne asada. Everything went together really well and I thoroughly enjoyed it to the last bite. I also ordered the Kale and chia seed agua and it was as good as it looked. I went back and ordered tacos. I hate to admit that I wasn’t as crazy about the tacos as I was about the jamburgesa. The tacos lack flavor and could be much more tasty if they were more liberal with the seasoning for the meat. I’ll stick to the delicious jamburgesas for now.
