This place is dope as hell. LOVEIT! Love it. The bartender was incredibly nice, the DJ was tight, the art fresh and the crowd super cute. Also, there’s a sign against the bar mirror reading«Viva Bernie» which sealed it for me — it’s my new favorite bar in LA… ALL of LA.

Because there is no «zero» place in the star review. This place has no place in East LA. Rude and pretentious.

One of a kind bar with burlesque dancers strutting their stuff on top of a bar and above your head while a band is playing rock. When the dancing stops, the DJ spins pretty good music. They do not have a full liquor license so your options are wine, sangria and beer with their speciality being micheladas. One gripe with this place is that this place is narrow and its kind of awkward standing between the seating area and the bar.

I really don’t know why this place has only 3.5 stars. This is the best thing that ever happened in Boyle Heights. It’s small and but its got a lot of style. Don’t forget the burlesque dancers accompanied by the jazz band at midnight. Maybe people just don’t know quality places. Not to mention the guys behind the bar are super cool!

Came after during the Barrio Boogie event. Bartender was a real turd who let his stress get to him. He was very picky with who he took drink orders from and leaned more towards women patrons. He looked at me and another BIG cholo next to me a couple times and always skipped us. Finally the big cholo got fed up and put his female friend in front to order drinks. The bartender took her order immediately and continued to diss me. All I needed was 3 waters for my familia who was dying from the heat(granted we had already had difficulty ordering some beers earlier from him). He gave me a «really» look when I finally shouted for his attention(10 minutes later and something I hate doing) and gave me 2 waters. When I asked for the 3rd cup he rolled his eyes. I’m all for«gentifcation» by the gente, for the gente but this isn’t the first time I’ve heard complaints about this bar(cover charges, rude service). Services feels to have gone down. I hate to say this but I’ll think twice of coming back here. I know these places need gente support but provide better services for the patrons holmes. PS. Bouncer checking ID was also a dick to my 65 year old dad about carding him though my dad was just being friendly asking«you don’t really need to check me right?» Bouncer responded by aggressively raising his voice to my dads«ID!». I felt super embarrassed bringing my family here PROs: Nice décor and theme. Aesthetically cool but staff killed the vibe that day.

Awesome bar. Right outside of Downtown LA. Has a Carlos Santana feel to it, really chill, good crowd, great music & entertainment on Saturday night. One of a kind bar

This place sucks. I walked in, and walked right out. It’s smaller than my son’s bedroom. No place to sit. Everyone looked like they all just came from the park or the beach. Not coming back. It may be someone’s thing, definitely not mine.

Came here on a Friday night and it was really chill. No cover for the girls, I cant remember if there was one for the guys. The guys have to wear a collared shirts in order to get in. At midnight the mariachi comes in and sings on top of the bar. It’s really fun and everyone gets into it. Plus your buzzed by then so your really feeling yourself by then. They have a tv inside and one side is all seating and the other side is the bar, which is lowered. The bathroom is small but clean when I went. There’s a smoking section as well. The parking is on the side or the back and drinks were fair priced, not crazy priced. Dress code is dressy casual for girls, I had sandals, jeans and a cute top and my sister in law had chucks and it was no issue. Overall I would totally come back again. The music is good and it’s good vibes all around.

Treated like family here, awesome display of art from local artist and there changed frequently so you may see some Calavera paintings you absolute love and next month is will be replaced with something new. It’s kinda a dark red tapestried wall to wall room that makes you feel Like you were in a different era. Sangria and wine bar specialty, they do offers some beers but I like to come to drink sangria. You will see many regulars as well as familiar faces all the time here. Staff is great, the bartenders like JC& Allen who have been awhile now, are fast and efficient with bringing you your drinks quickly. Various nights for new and old music, they offer Morrisey-Oke, 80’s, Rock En Español, Cumbias as the wee hours of 2am approach and deep house to early 90’s rap so there’s a familiar song that will be played for everyone’s likings. The neighborhood is rough here, so leaving walking the back street do be aware and cautious of bums, drunks and creeps nearby especially since the placita is walking distance… parking is also another issue you will encounter so be prepared to park and walk a ways.

Just a top notch joint! I love the décor immensely & the art on display never disappoints. I’m not gonna say much because I think you need to just visit to see for yourself. The drop down bar connected to the stage is beautiful reminds me of a speak easy. I love the Sangria and always end up eating the fruit too.

I’ve been to Eastside Luv 4 or 5 times and usually at the request of a friend who has a thing for one of the bartenders. I always begrudgingly agree to this plan because I always have a mile long list of other places I’d rather check out… and because of this I haven’t fully let myself enjoy this place, until this weekend. This place is quite a little gem. The owners really put a lot of heart into it. The décor is dark and vampire-y, but its got a Latino Vampire flavor that makes it special. The bar is long and narrow with a sunken bar that I comfortably plop my behind on every time I visit. There are tables and banquettes on the opposite side that are equally comfy. The staff is usually nice and seem happy to serve. On occasion they have mariachi perform and sometimes there is a surprise burlesque show. Tons of beer, full bar and sangria are offered and there are usually food trucks outside waiting to feed you. My favorite part about this place is the music! The DJ’s are amazing. I mean, I was in East LA and I heard Bob Markley, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Johnny Cash. On top of an eclectic mix of music, they play a ton of booty shaking music and 90s tunes that will get you off your tush for sure! I also love the crowd. It’s mostly Latino, yes, but still diverse. Valley girls, Downtown Suits, Veteranas, Anarchists, Blue collar folks, Bougie boys and Hipsters all convene here and sing along to Mana, Drake and Don Omar. A fun and easy way to spent a Saturday night.

Great times. This bar is awesome all around! The decoration and the service. You’re treated like family the moment you walk in. Saturday night has a burlesque show and DJ. If you like good music then you’ll like their selection. Everyone’s dressed to impress. I will definitely be going back. Cheers!

Great music. Simple drink menu(beer & wine). Mariachi. You can sit on the bar. Cabaret show. Packing is easy. Not a pretentious crowd. Taco truck around the corner. Awesome décor. You can’t go wrong with Eastside Luv.

I had heard great hype about this place. We walk up around 9ish, on a Friday month about 2 weeks ago, and I’m free, and my hubby pays 10 bucks for entry. We walk in… there’s like 12 people in there. This place is small to begin with, and it still looked empty. The DJ was just setting up. Anywho, it was pretty empty until like 11:30, which makes me ask, what did we pay $ 10 for? They should be happy we were even there. It was a young crowd, 21 – 27, which explains the late crowd, but not the entry fee. I guess its a local hang out spot, but not worth a drive and plain just not for me.
