I’m not gonna be bourgeoisie and complain about the $ 1 credit card charge like other people but I just had the most meh pupusa ever… Almost as bad as that one time my mom tried making them without lard. It also took forever despite it being pretty empty. I will not be coming back here.

The price isn’t worth the experience. But the pupusas are good, I’d shop there again just order to go.

1.25 papusas on Tuesday & Friday. Dollar charge to use Debit. I’ve never had anything but papusas from here. The staff is polite. The papusas are pretty good…

This is a really small hole in the wall that I barely realized was a restaurant haha. They have a really good selection and prices. I got a pupusa de queso and it was really delicious! The happy hour makes it $ 1.10 per pupusa, rather than the normal $ 1.80. I would definitely go again and look forward to trying new entrees!

los comales is a dive with heart. the interior is shabby and a little haphazard. the vantage point for those curious or brave enough to enter the front door reveal a long railcar rectangle of a room with a bulky jukebox directly ahead, a dark elevated room to the right, and a some seating to the left anchored by a jumbled service station. an enthusiastic(but misguided) attempt at decorating and«class» is evidenced by cheap striped drapes that frame the windows, faded tablecloths that cover shabby tables beneath heavy panes of scratched glass, and bouquets of flake flowers optimistically lining the high cut out shelf by the ceiling. proof yet again that looks aren’t everything and not always an indicator of substance. what los comales lacks in good looks and polish, it delivers in good food. the menu is well traveled, with recognizable stops in mexico, el salvador, and guatemala. prices are reasonable and portions are generous. best of all, the food is delicious. the mojara fritto(fried fish) is delicious and succulent. the refried beans are ridiculously good(and no doubt very bad for you) and every plate is loaded with some type of accoutrement: a square of feta, a mound of sour cream, a heaping spoonful of pico de gallo, a mountain of rice — all garnished with a charred green onion and jalapeño. the churrasco plate($ 14) is an incredible value and enough for two: a heaping amount of carne asada, some type of delicious rice/bean combo, fat el salvadorean suasages, pico de gallo, sour cream, buttery caramelized plantains, and thick homemade tortillas. for the drinkers, beer here is cheap and well varied. my new favorite discovery is victoria, which is similar to pacifico. service is very friendly though not particularly hurried or efficient. ask for water if you want it and be prepared to ask multiple times before receiving it. expect to see squat grandma types in flowered dresses and aprons sitting at a table, gossiping and passing the day. oh, and bring cash because it’s cash only.

I woulnt want anyone who isn’t salvadorean or Latino to leave with a wrong impression of our food, so hear me out. If I had to describe this place in one word it would be «meh»(is that even a word?) I live super close, so when were too lazy to go anywhere else we come here. The food is decent, but the service sucks. if its ur first time eating at a salvi place and u want a good experience, you should look elsewhere. They always take long to give u your food and the cashier/waitress is always on the phone or distracted with something, even if there’s someone waiting in line.(at least in my past visits) Their salsa for the pupusas is always bitter and gross. Idk why, but make sure u taste it before u pour it on your food. My last bit of advice, there’s a street vendor lady with bright red hair across the street next to jons market. She’s usually there on weekends(nights) cooking pupusas on a portable griddle, and hers are really good :)

Skipped over from the Metroplex because my belly was craving pupusas alll morning long. The restaurant itself definitely has a hole-in-the-wall-ish feeling, kinda dark and not very vibrant inside. After quickly scanning the environment I figured I’d be more comfortable eating it elsewhere. Outside of a few«regulars» in the restaurant, it was pretty empty. Not that I minded, since I was getting to-go food and the less people, the faster the service! Woohoo. I ordered in Spanglish– well, I switched from English to Spanish halfway and it seemed to make the guy at the register a little more relieved. Ordered two pupusas revueltas. They were playing Aventura(the new CD) on the jukebox thing the whole time, which was awesome. Food came out in about fifteen minutes, and I happily locked myself in my car and murdered the food. The pupusas were reallly messy, so I would recommend either NOT eating in your lap in a small vehicle, or just sucking it up and eating on-site. They were aweeesome though, piping hot and greasy and filling. I might order in advance next and pick it up just to save some valuable lunch minutes.

Wow, no reviews for this place. I guess it’s not that surprising since it did’t have much of a «lunch crowd» today. Seems like they have locals to keep the business afloat though. The food wasn’t bad. We wanted to try El Salvadorian food – got some pupusas, yuka, some meat dish. It’s about $ 2 per pupusa, and I guess it’s alright for snacking if you’re craving greasy. Pupusas are like stuffed quesadilla, stuffed with cheese, pork, or whatever’s on the menu inside the tortilla. Probably won’t go back again, but not a bad place to check out for lunch if you work nearby. *Note: The waitress there only spoke Spanish, so unless you’re going with some Spanish-speaking folks, it’s gona be a little tricky to order.
