The food here is not great but still pretty good. I have ordered many dishes and have to give them props for their Tangerine Beef. The flavor stimulates the taste buds like no hamburger or hotdog will. There are other dishes that fall short though. The fried rice was greasy but still lacking taste. If you’re not a picky eater this restaurant will serve you well. The staff are friendly and willing to help unlike other restaurants close by. The delivery service is a little flawed. I ordered delivery through Eat24 and wanted it delivered two hours later because I was out shopping. To my surprise the food was delivered within 30 min of ordering.

Love this place. Great service and great food. We were dinning with 2 toddlers and they were patient and attentive. The dishes were huge and my favorite was eggplants short ribs claypot. Last but definitely not least is that they don’t use large amount of msg. I am a walking msg detector and almost ALL places add some, especially chinese food. The place is not using much and food is delicious.

GREATCHINESERESTAURANTINCHINATOWN. GREATFORBIGGROUPS. OPENLATE! LATENIGHTMENUISDEFINITELY Affordable. Served family style, so order a few dishes for your table, and you’re good. Parking: I think there’s a lot available around the back but I parked on the street for free cuz it was late. Watch for street signs. Ambiance: casual. Like a casual dining restaurant, almost like A &W Seafood restaurant. Seating: please wait to be seated. Call in advance for reservations/check the wait …

Made a late night delivery order over an hour before close and didn’t get a call for 20 minutes that the kitchen was already closed and my order was not coming. And Master Chef wouldn’t even call me directly, they went through Eat24 to assure me that I wouldn’t be charged for the food they didn’t make and didn’t deliver… thank god? Customer: lost And after yet another issue, am substantially less inclined to use this garbage Unilocal ordering service.

I had a regular place I used to go to in Chinatown … But wanted to try some place new. In particular I was looking for BROWN rice … Which is a tough find in Chinatown. So that was the first thing that brought me in. Then the waiter/service was super nice. No attitude and very attentive. Accommodated our special order. Another reason this place is great! And then the food came … HUGE portions. Every dish was a mountain of food. And lastly … Everything we ordered was delicious. Ask for low oil and no MSG … And you will be pleased. Also … Nice bright décor! So now … We have a new«go to» place in Chinatown! Definitely give it a try.

The food is great as the title says Master Chef! It speaks volume, the prices and are far better than any chain or top end name Chinese restaurants!

I dropped in around 11 pm, it was pretty slow, so the service was on point. I ordered the orange chicken and crab/shrimp fried rice. The portions are definitely for sharing or people with 2 stomachs. The fried rice had a plentiful amount of real crab and shrimp but lacked flavor, most fried rice dishes aren’t white or lightly yellow, you can tell they did not put enough soy sauce at all it’s more like white rice with everything added. I’ll skip this next time and just get steamed rice or try their chow mein instead. The orange chicken was just OK as well, there’s a lot of it but most of it was just fried breading, no real giant chunks of chicken, they slice the chicken flat, it’s nice, crispy and saucy. Lastly I sampled their Mango Pudding a server recommendation, it was my first time and I must say I like it lol that’s all they have on their dessert menu. Overall I wasn’t impressed with what I ordered but the menu has a lot of things that make my mouth water so I would give it another try and hopefully the next items I order will hit the spot tastebuds and stomach wise.

I love Master Chef. But here’s the scoop. They had a 10% off offer that popped up when I checked in. The fine print said it expired April 30th. But wait. It just. Popped up as I checked in today. KEEPYOUROFFERSCURRENTON Unilocal! I asked if they’d honor it. He looked puzzled, said«No, it’s expired April 30th.» Then take it off. Rude.

Second time ordering from here and second bad expedience. Very poor customer service through delivery. They said my order came in through Unilocal at 11:01pm and that they stop delivering at 11:00pm… One minute after there cut off time… I called them an hour later to check on the food and they said eat24 was going to contact me… No on contacted me… Do not advertise and make your delivery time available if you do not intend to follow through… And not even contact the customer to let them know you are not accepting the order… Also, the first time I ordered the delivery driver didn’t even bother to bring the food to my door… My apartment has ample temporarily parking right snack dab infront of the building and a bellman to let people in and the jerk couldn’t bother to bring the food to the door. I was sick at the time hence my reason to order delivery. If I wanted pick up id have done so… Never ordering from here again.

I ordered take out an hour before I was going to pick it up and when I got there I still had to wait 40 min to get my food… I didn’t get an apology for waiting almost 2 hours for food that I had ordered on the phone and I even told them I was in a rush. Didn’t receive any discounts for waiting that long for my food. The restaurant was not that busy and 3 different people were waiting on food to go as well. Their food was OK and their portions were very stingy… Not the place you want to order take out from if you are in a rush and don’t want to easter your time.

I ordered a Kung Pao Chicken and a fried rice from them, they firstly delivered me two fried rice by mistake. But after I called them, they immediately apologized and fetch the kung pao chicken for me within 10mins. They even put an extra desserts in the bag with Kung Pao chicken and did not charge for the extra fired rice at all! I am very impressed by their services. And I will make them as the first choice for my Chinese food delivery going forward.

MYFAVORITERESTAURANTEVER. I’ve tried every single restaurant in Chinatown and they’re all terrible except this gem. If you haven’t had master chef you aren’t living. I usually order the honey walnut shrimp, orange chicken and the vegetable chow mien dry. Delicious at a great price!

I usually eat here when I’m in Chinatown. They’re the only ones that I know of that serve bitter melon, which I absolutely love. My last visit here was during the Chinese New Year parade. *Side note: I did notice that their grade is currently a «B» — not sure as of when or why. I loaded up on all my favorite dishes: orange chicken, honey walnut shrimp, mapo tofu, chicken with bok choy, chicken chow mein with gravy and steamed rice. And oddly enough I did not order the dish that brings me here in the first place. The orange chicken has great flavor and their variation isn’t spicy(FYI for those who prefer it that way). Their honey walnut shrimp is so delicious. Tender pieces of shrimp coated in a creamy sweet sauce. Normally restaurants toss the walnuts in the same sauce with the shrimp so they’re equally coated, but not here. They sit on the sidelines of the shrimp. It’s a nice crunch to the soft shrimp. Their mapo tofu is among the best. Tofu cubes, peppers, mushrooms all submerged in a spicy gravy. Very good! I like how they cook the chow mein. Crispy pools of noodles line the plate and the hot gravy with bok choy and chicken sit atop and soften the noodles. The chicken with bok choy was similar to that which was served on the chow mein. All in all, it was a great meal and a good way to celebrate the new year.

Came here with some coworkers for lunch. The place was kinda empty, but that was fine with me cause that means the waiter actually pays attention to us. They have a lunch special from 11 am to 3 pm. Which is a entrée that ranges from $ 6.95 to $ 10.50 and comes with egg flower soup and big bowl of steamed rice. I got the Mongolian beef which had a savory flavor. The things I didn’t like about the Mongolian beef are how chewy it was. I dunno if it was all fat or what, but I don’t think beef is typically that chewy. The other thing was that the dish was so greasy the amount of grease on their was pretty disgusting. My coworker order the deep fried pork chops which were amazing! They were made fresh and they added the right amount of salt on. Seriously perfection. Overall, it was okay. I didn’t like one dish, but I liked the other dish. I would try this restaurant one more time to see my opinions would change.

After a night in downtown, my boyfriend and I came here for late night Chinese food eats! It was busy at 11pm on a Saturday! We were pretty lucky there was one table open, or else we would have had to wait! We got the sauteed fish and house special pan fried noodle. It was pretty darn good. Side note: is it me or does every Chinese restaurant have the same recipe for pan fried noodles and sauteed fish? Either way, it was awesome. Service wasn’t too friendly, nor were they mean either. We enjoyed the food! We will come back for some late night Chinese food cravings yummm.

My friends and I came to Master Chef for a late-night snack after a long bout of drinking at General Lee’s. The place was doing pretty brisk business at midnight on a Saturday(technically Sunday, I guess). I don’t tend to crave Americanized Chinese food when drunk(exception: Ling Ling potstickers), but this was a good choice. There were five of us, and we got seated right away at a roomy circular table. I don’t remember the space well, but I have the sense that it was nondescript, without much in the way of atmosphere. Service was quick and polite. There was beer available. I had a Tsingtao. We ordered a bunch of food to share off the late-night menu, which was quite extensive.(I guess the regular menu is almost 200 items long, but the late-night is almost 100.) We got Szechuan tofu, spinach with garlic sauce, fried chicken wings with spicy salt, sliced chicken with cashew nuts, and kung pao chicken. All of it was fine – I don’t have very detailed memories here, but I liked everything without feeling like I needed to come back during normal hours. But for drunk eats at midnight, Master Chef definitely hit the spot, and I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a place to eat after drinking in Chinatown. I had fun here, and I needed that fix of salt and grease.

I’m surprised this place has only 3.5 stars because all of us(party of 4) really enjoyed the food, and the customer service was spectacular! They followed up with us on water every time, and always responded politely to our questions and needs. Plus, everyone(the servers) we encountered understood and spoke english well which is always nice in asian restaurants. We shared the following entrees between 4 people and it was more than enough since their portions were large. All of us left super full! House special fried rice– It was good, but it didn’t stand out from any other fried rice at any other chinese restaurant. *3/5 Fried porkchop w/spicy salt– This was my favorite here! Soso good(and fattening.)! Its basically what it’s called. Deep fried porkchop with some spicy salt seasoning and green onions. Their seasoning was better than many other chinese restaurants who have a similar entrée(salt&pepper porkchop), but it doesn’t come close to the spicy salt seasoning here! *5/5 Fried shrimp(shell on) w/spicy salt– This was my other fav! It’s the same seasoning as the porkchop above so the only difference is that it’s shrimp hehe. We ordered it with the shell on because you just have to eat the shell with this seasoning! It makes it so much better, I swear! Try it to believe it :)! *5/5 Dumplings/potstickers– We checked in on Unilocal and so we got the dumplings for free. You can choose between dumplings or eggrolls. They were good and soft, but nothing extraordinary. I did like the vinegar dipping it came with. I love dipping my dumplings in the vinegar sauce over regular soysauce. *4/5 Tangerine beef– This was okay… I think I would rather have gotten the orange chicken. The beef was skinny and chewy, and the batter was too soft. *3/5 Not sure if there’s parking, but we found street parking right in front of the place so we just parked there. To conclude, MUST get the fried porkchop with spicy salt and the fried shrimp one too!

Stumbled in here after a night of drinking in Chinatown. This place is open until 2am which is awesome. Ordered some porridge, wonton soup, honey walnut shrimp, chicken fried rice(awesome), Dry noodles, Mongolian beef, and asparagus. Everything was great for late night Chinese food. Service was average, but whatever! I enjoyed myself. Would stumble in here anyday :)

Good value for money. The meals are quite big and I recommend to order only 2 meals for 3 people.
