5 stars for«The Moreno». It wasn’t much to look at but was defiantly one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Pure artistry creating this blend of flavors. Bravo to the originator.

The avocado sandwich I got was overpriced, not good, and had very little on it. I got an iced tea and asked for some lemon which the did not have, then asked for one of the orange slices they were in the middle of cutting and was told that they needed them for something else. Horrible service.

I’ve never written a review before, mostly because I think this is a place for ding dongs to gripe about nothing, but I couldn’t stand by anymore without expressing my enthusiasm for this sandwich joint. I’ve eaten here three times, had consistently tasty sandwiches each time, even the turkey with cheddar, which is like the plain white t-shirt of sandwiches, was incredible. The pinnacle of this menu is the Italian combo, the Grecco. I love me a good Italian sandwich. I grew up next to Cavaretta’s, which I consider the King of Italian combos(at least in the Valley). I’ve scoured the earth for a place that’s comparable, and now that Picnic offers one, I’ve found it. And if you’ve had Cavaretta’s, that’s saying something. The meat selection, optimal, the cheese and dressing, divine. The bread is fresh; a happy marriage of both soft and crunchy. I added mayo because I love me a slathering of that white gold and man, did this thing not disappoint. It’s $ 14 dollars, which may seem steep, but this thing is meant to be split,(i saved half for later)(and by later I mean 30 minutes). It’s just too dang good. And the staff was LOVELY, they even wrapped up the remaining half for me in nicely stamped paper AND put it in a bag! Whoever hates on this place for whatever disgruntled service probably doesn’t know how to eat a sandwich and definitely doesn’t know how to talk to people like a human adult. If you’re on this side of town and looking for a sandwich that tips the dank-o-meter, look no further than Picnic.

Great sandwiches. Although the b*** resting face of the host/cashier who clearly would rather be anywhere else but at work is quiet sad. She is rude absolutely unprofessional and when you ask about recommendation you wish you would have gone to café Stella. Hope she changes her attitude before this amazing place goes under.

Time says they open at 10, but I get there and they say they will open at 11. Ugh. Waste of my time.

i would give this place no stars if i could. my hubby and i asked to switch the bread on our sandwich choices, and our daughter asked to omit an item. she was SORUDE and told us we cannot do that as she would need to look at her food bill. no one should ever have to experience this negativity… no wonder the place was totally empty at 11:30 on a sunday. hence we walked out. we walked down to local where the staff was friendly and accomodating and the food was yummy!!!

Dynamite spot. Homemade sauces always winning. A must if you like artistic sandwich creations.

I just finished eating my very first Picnic sandwich, and I came here to rave about my experience — and I’m shocked to read the reviews here. Maybe I made it on a good day, but I’m really glad I came and will definitely be back. Parking: street(ok) Service: Both girls were very sweet and sociable! Cleanliness: A+ Ambience: Feels like a cute little sandwich shop at summer camp for cool kids. Pulp Fiction art prints, Helmut Newton & Polaroid art books, bullet-holed burn barrel chandelier… general artsy shabby chic vibe. Seems legit, for a place called Picnic. I want to picnic here. Food: A– … I ordered the beet caprese sandwich, and my man ordered the turkey baguette. The reason I give an A– rather than an A+ is because of the bread. It is true, the bread was a little bit dry. I asked for it not to be toasted very much cuz I could tell by the sound when it was being cut that it was going to be a crunchy crust. Both of us would have liked a softer baguette, but also — it was not so crusty that it cut either of our mouths, but it was too dry to fully enjoy sinking your teeth into. The ingredients, however, were perfect and equally perfect ratios. Phenomenal flavors. Don’t hesitate to check these guys out. Especially if you are vegetarian and have a hard time finding a killer sandwich… Cuz my tastebuds were in hog heaven! In summary, I think the general consensus is that this place would benefit from softer bread. I plan to come back soon and see how my second experience is.

Hands down the worst sandwiches I have ever eaten in my life. I’ve gotten better quality(and cheaper) sandwiches from an airport kiosk. I had the fried chicken sandwich and it was completely inedible. The chicken was WAY over-seasoned and had the oddest consistency. I couldn’t even bite down into it. The brioche bun completely fell apart because of all the sauce and the tomato on the sandwich was the palest and mealiest and saddest tomato I have ever seen. My boyfriend ordered the Greco and it was enormous. Which is not necessarily a good thing. The bread was so stale, neither of us could take a bite and all the meats were just slapped on there with absolutely no love or care. Not to mention that all the deli meats were hard on the edges– a sign that they had been sitting out too long. Ugh. How can you have a sandwich shop and not care at all about making good sandwiches??? And they were expensive! Unacceptable. And the girl working behind the counter had zero personality. But I guess when you’re serving god-awful sandwiches like these, why bother being nice? Hopefully they will go out of business soon so someone that actually knows what good food is can open a restaurant there. And I have to add that I have never written a Unilocal review before this. Because the food was so horribly awful, I felt compelled to write a review. The food was so bad, it actually made me angry. I feel ripped off that we paid good money for those terrible excuses for sandwiches. Do yourself a favor and drive across town to ink sack if you want to eat some good sandwiches.

Split the TBS and fried chicken sandwich between 2 of us. Great start to a morning, Delicious bread, a bit messy, a little spicy. Downside is price.

It’s hard out there for a sandwich shop. If you’ve been in business since the 60s like Eastside Market, Phillipe, Giamelas, et al, it’s easy to keep your price points low– I mean I’m only guessing here, but every newer sandwich spot in a nice neighborhood is charging about 11 – 13 bucks per, and these older joints are averaging around 7 – 8. Probably has to do with location longevity, family-based staff and general expectations from loyal customers. I was startled when I saw the prices, but hey, it was Labor Day weekend and I had my sandwich allowance for the holiday burning a hole in my pocket. I chose Carrie Anne’s Ham and Frito because why not? I’m not particularly fond of Fritos out of a bag(give me some Cool Ranch Doritos and you’ll find me hovering in a corner somewhere with my hands laden in blue flavor dust), but the corn/ham combo with honey mustard sounded so interesting that I couldn’t say no. It was also the most unique option — tuna wrap? Nah. It’s a holiday. Fried chicken served In-n-Out’s Animal style? No, I’ll just have a *bite* of my husband’s because I don’t want to die this week. Turkey baguette? The photos on Unilocal looked like something I would make at home. So Ham and Frito it was! Firstly, I enjoyed the presentation and the initial bites. They have a lovely layering philosophy at Picnic, which is of utmost importance in the world of sandwich construction. But the honey mustard was so sweet. I was unable to finish the second half because it was quite cloying. However, I think if it had been smaller, it wouldn’t have been so overwhelming, and it also could have been less expensive. The fresh mozz gets lost, and with the creamy avocado already in there, the cheese is rather unnecessary. The arugula is all this sandwich needs to elevate it above it’s most-likely low-brow beginnings. My husband was having difficulty eating the fried chicken sandwich. Maybe if they filleted the breast before breading and frying, it could be held with more ease. He had it boxed up, and had the last bit for a snack later. It was much better after it had time to sit. Too pricy and heavy for weekday work lunch, but totally cool for a gluttonous weekend pig out.

I have been to Picnic about three times now and I want to like it, but every time it is a disappointment and I think i will not being coming back again. I will say that they have improved since the first time I came in and it seems they have eased off of their pretentious no substitution policy, at least a little bit. The big problem is the sandwiches just lack flavor and are kind of basic, especially for the price. They just don’t bring anything particularly inventive or unique but they charge like they do. The turkey baguette feels like something you could get at any super market deli for $ 6 but they charge you $ 12, the bread was stale and it was just so bland, not exactly bad but just not worth that much. The portion was large but I didn’t finish it. The tuna wrap was the same way, not out right bad but pretty standard and unremarkable. The sex toast was really weird, it was a piece of toast with humus, some cheese sprinkled on it, and a couple of sauces for $ 11 and it had a very strange taste to it. I would be willing to pay their high prices if it was worth it but it really just isn’t. Other minor grievances: parking is quite hard. They are really slow, especially considering they weren’t that busy the times I’ve been in. I came in on a hot day the last time I was here and it felt like walking into a sauna, there was no ventilation and it was actually more comfortable outside, at least put in a couple of fans or something.

Awesome sandwiches, healthy and well… not healthy. A new featured amazing fried chicken sandwich every week, what is not to like. Yes, the prices are a bit on the higher side but so is the quality and craftsmanship. I live in Silverlake and I’m really happy that there is a reliable sandwich shop that I can go to. If you live on the eastside of town this is a must try.

If sandwiches are your weakness, you will have a hard time making it out of Picnic Sandwich without spending a pretty penny. This postage stamped eatery could easily be missed if you’re zipping by on Sunset. It’s sandwiched between(lol, pun was not intended, but I’m keeping it) a menagerie of boutique shops and eateries. The interior is simply decorated and feels more like a simple tea shop than a mecca to sandwiches. However, don’t let the interior fool you… they make some mean sandwiches here. I’m a sucker for Italian meat sandwiches so I had to take the plunge even if the sandwich was $ 14. Was that a typo? No. It’s pretty steep for a sandwich, but I found out why when I hefted the paper bag that contained my handcrafted sandwich. Unless you’re a ravenous eater, the sandwich is sufficient for two meals or to split with another person. Once I started eating my sandwich, I appreciated the quality bread that was crusty, but still chewy… the quality meats and cheeses… all of which combined to make it a really, really good sandwich. Still, it was hard stomaching the $ 19+ I spent on a sandwich after tax and tip. It makes it hard for me to visit as a regular if I’m dining solo. If you’re gonna go, I’d highly recommend bringing an eating buddy to make this a much more palatable meal to swallow.

Solid sandwich that lasted me for 2 meals and overall tasted pretty good. But $ 12 for a turkey sandwich is a little steep, especially because it really didn’t have any special high end ingredients. Also, the baguette was toasted and a bit too crunchy for my taste. Not sure if I’d go out of my way to get another sandwich here. But the big pickle is delicious on the side!

This was my first time at Picnic and it was delicious. I had the turkey ciabatta with cheese, avocado, tomato, arugala and a touch of mayo. Truly one of the best sandwiches I have ever had and it fits into my healthy eating plan. Shanna and her team are very welcoming and over a great menu with specials as well. If you are in the Los Feliz area you must check it out. I look forward to going back very soon.

Picnic makes the most delicious sandwiches with quality ingredients. I’m happy to pay a bit more because these are the best sandwiches I’ve ever had with creative takes on classic sandwiches. I highly recommend the fried chicken sandwich of the day, the sex toast, or the frito sandwich! They also have really cool ambience, great music, friendly staff, and magazines and books about surfing, street food, and more to keep you occupied while you wait. And they offer sandwich punch cards to give loyal customers a free sandwich!

The sandwiches are awesome, there is no question about it, but I wasn’t quite impressed with the ambiance. The chairs were uncomfortable and the tables were small. The owners and the staff were very nice. I’d definitely be back to order for some to go items. Deep fried chicken sandwich is probably one of the best items on the menu.

Just had one of the best breakfasts I have had in this neighborhood in a while. I am a breakfast sandwich lover and this was far and above my expectations. The owner Shana was cooking up a storm behind the counter. Super chill excellent service. Delicious coffee and my new #1 breakfast sandwich. Fun music selects too. Thanks for a great Sunday morning. See you again soon
