Room 5 is not 1 of 5. It is a small live music acoustic listening room… A lounge that holds maybe 70 people: intimate, un-plugged, drama free zone. Helpful hint, Room 5 is located upstairs above Amalfi’s restaurant in the heart of hip Hancock park area of Los Angeles. Tuesday nights are my favorite because it’s songwriters night so you never know who might pop in. There is a cash only cover at the door of $ 10 so come prepared. Plenty of parking on the street or the valet parking lot. It wouldn’t be LA with a valet service. Truly a hidden gem amidst a vast Los Angeles music scene. I’m a regular and will continue to be so because this spot is amazing. I invite you to try it out as well. Room 5 will not disappoint.

I love love this venue! The restaurant downstairs is really nice too! Use their valet! Do not be fooled by the valet on the corner. That valet told me $ 25 because«we don’t know how long you will be at Room 5». Yeah, right. It was $ 6 at Room 5’s valet, plenty reasonable with opportunity to tip generously :-)

I love this spot. If you are a musician or love seeing live music this is the place for you. As a musician I love playing the room because it is a listening room. People go there to listen to music and no so much to get loud and rowdy. It’s always nice to have a captive audience. As a patron I love this spot because they always have great acts and the food is really good. Great Italian food, and that’s coming from a New Yorker. Shannon, Colin and Graham along with the rest of the staff do an amazing job. Reminds me of some places on Bleecker Street in NYC. 5 Stars all the way.

Street parking, or there’s a valet right out front, if you so choose. Go up the stairs and check in. Let them know who you’re there to see. The cover is typically $ 10. There’s a full bar, and you can order food, either from the bartender/server or directly from the restaurant downstairs. Find a spot and get ready to hear the performer. The food and drinks are very good, the performances range from ok to outstanding!

Room 5 is literally a small, upstairs lounge above Amalfi’s restaurant. It’s tucked away in the middle of the busy LA streets, home to some of LA’s best underground, up-and-coming singer-songwriting talent. I love how small and intimate this venue is. Being in LA, you can always be surprised to see who will pop up here. I came in for my friend’s Songwriter Night and loved the laid-back vibes around. There’s a cover charge/donation and a small bar. It’s a small space, but so very intimate. Think of The Hotel Café just a LOT smaller and more of a hidden gem. I’d like to think this is the perfect space for newbies wanting to play a couple of songs to a couple friends or enjoy a good night out. I’d definitely be back again if I’m ever in the area and want to catch a small show with a friend.(Maybe even to perform one of these days?) One of LA’s solid up-and-coming songwriter venues.

This place is great! They have been doing the live music thing for years and it’s always a good time. It’s affordable to get in. The food is good. There’s street parking and $ 6 valet. The people are nice the service is fast. They have an ATM inside which is convenient. I’ll be back for sure

Intimate, dark space with a red leather couch and probably 5 – 6 tables plus bar seating. Small amount of standing room. One bartender on staff, but able to handle 30+ people at once. No dedicated restroom– you need to go back downstairs and use the the one at the far back. Beer selection was pretty ho-hum, but thankfully you can bring up beer from downstairs, which has a much larger tap selection including $ 7 Sculpin pints and probably a dozen other craft taps. Cocktails upstairs at Room 5 were strong and tasty.

Nice lounge for a chill evening to watch an acoustic setlist. Didn’t try the drinks, but the special cocktails sounded very inventive. I liked the vibe of this space and would like to return to imbibe and to also try out the restaurant downstairs as well.

Nice, cosy place on top of the Amalfi Restaurant. The venue is actually pretty cool. Went for a gig by a band called«Perfect Sex.» It was a good show and a nice space. Not too crowded and has a cool(slightly more mellow) feel. The restaurant does serve food upstairs in Room 5 as well, which is an added bonus. I’d go back for another gig if the opportunity presented itself. Stay Cheerful ;)

Cool place for a casual night out. They always have great local entertainers playing upstairs on the weekends. Kind of small space upstairs. They have some booths and tables and a bar but usually it’s pretty packed. Lots of people are forced to stand and have to push through each other to get around. Kind of annoying. Downstairs they have a restaurant if you want to grab dinner before listening to some live music upstairs. This restaurant is also pretty busy so I would go early!

5 stars for Room 5. Small intimate and cozy. Very impressed by the performers I saw last night Brenda Xu & Stevie B Wolf. Yay for ginger beer. Plenty of free street parking after 8 pm. $ 10 cover.

Awesome little spot; my honey and I saw my little girls music teacher perform there last Saturday and it is a hidden gem of a place. Cozy, even romantic spot to enjoy great live music. It was easy to find a table, get food and drinks, even after I dropped my glass of wine on my honey… Lol(the staff was great about that) We will definitely be back :-) The Margherita pizza was yum and the fries were good.

Came here on a Tuesday night to support my friends that were performing(my friend and his girlfriend, Charlotte Bash — check her out!). I must say I absolutely loved this place as a venue! It is VERY small and intimate, but I think that performers must love seeing a standing-room only place while they perform. The sound system is also excellent, so I’m sure the vocalists AND the instrumentalists love that. For a Tuesday night, the place was packed and the mood was great. The crowd was very appreciative of the talent that was performing, and everyone was having a good time. I hope to come back to see more performances because based on the night that I went, the talent that Room 5 pulls is really solid. The staff is also really friendly, and I for one don’t think that the drinks are too expensive like everyone is saying. I got a Blue Moon for $ 7 but it was in a very large glass, so I was fine with it. Since a lot of shows are late at night, I found plenty of(free) street parking on La Brea. There is a bar on the 2nd floor, however downstairs is a restaurant with a full bar in which you can bring drinks upstairs. The restaurant looked nice and cozy with TVs to catch a big game, so I hope to check that place out too. CHECKTHISPLACEOUT! Listen to some awesome talent, sit back, relax & enjoy!

Great lIttle place for an intimate show. Comfy chairs, nice staff and cozy atmosphere. One star off because the drinks are so expensive.

I went to Room 5 to see a performance by a singer, Tom Goss. The room is small, but comfortable. The acoustics were good as were the drinks. I would return anytime the occasion arose.

There’s a time for crazy dance parties with DJs and lasers, a time for arena shows with the most famous bands in the world, and then there’s a time and place for those quiet singer songwriters who you know are really putting their hearts and souls out there in their understated performances. Room 5 is the place for the third time — the tiny space over a restaurant is dim, low, and provides very little seating space, particularly if you’re not eating there. But it’s worth squishing yourself against the back wall and buying a pricey cocktail to see some of the most talented artists in the area give their all! I love that this place exists to support the artists who don’t necessarily make sense in the grungy Hollywood venues or divey clubs. Thank goodness for Room 5!

I’ve been meaning to go here for a while and I finally saw the Mots Nouveaux starring Emma Fitzpatrick. Only $ 10. I love this place. It’s a real listening room. Reminds me of what Largo used to be sans stars, food and half the size. It’s really intimate. Maybe 50 people. Small stage. 4 – 5 players at most. But it’s dark and intimate and they’ve got a decent sound system(though I think the board op had the band a little too hot considering they were going for a more acoustic vibe.)

Room 5 is a small intimate room above Amalfi’s. It’s literally a room, one room and is super casual. They have waiter service, but you can order food/drinks at the bar as well. I recommend coming early to snatch a table, otherwise it’s just standing room. PS — $ 10 cover charge.
