Taco Tuesday’s for $ 1.49 per fish taco is the best deal, and has become a tradition for me every week. Other than that, the salmon burrito is very good, highly recommend if you’re looking for a little variation from more traditional Mexican food flavors

Taco Tuesdays! If you have somehow managed to get by your dwindling years at UCLA without coming here on a Tuesday, then put it on your google calendar, or iCalendar, or whatever else you use to put your unfortunate fish taco-less lives together. Do it now. For only $ 1.50 each after 2pm on Tuesdays, you get a huge chunk of fried fish with a smothering of a tartar sauce concoction and greens wrapped snugly in a warm tortilla. Then visit the condiment bar and get your lemons and spicy red sauce. Gotta get that perfect color combination, right? I usually come here after I’m done with class as a reward. I don’t know about you, but it’s hard work staying awake in lecture! I usually grab 3. You should too.

TACOTUESDAY!!! Seriously, I have been to UCLA for what is creeping up on four whole spanking years now, and I have never, ever felt compelled to eat at Rubio’s. THATIS, UNTIL I HEARDABOUTTACOTUESDAY!!! You see, TACOTUESDAY features $ 1.50FISHTACOS. THAT’S RIGHT. $ 1.50! That’s a really great deal overall, and their«especial” – a wonderful Spanish cognate for special(who would have guessed?) – tacos with guacamole in them go for $ 2. The catch is that, like the name«Taco Tuesday» suggests, this deal only is good on Tuesdays. And after 2:30 P.M. at that, which is actually a pretty huge time span if you think about it. Honestly, the regular prices here are just okay, which makes Tuesdays absolutely crucial. I basically think I’m going to be here every single Tuesday from this point forward. The tacos themselves are not bad – I personally think that there’s way too much tartar sauce inside, and the cabbage is sparse but seems to be the right amount. The corn tortillas are slightly grilled and warmed and aren’t really anything special at all. However, the fish is surprisingly really great. The outer fried layer isn’t as thick or heavy as I’ve lamented on a lot of the fried fish I’ve had in my day, and the fish itself is quite fluffy and flavorful. The size of the tacos is pretty decent; I actually ordered four because I was really hungry, but I ultimately only ate two(immediately after this review, I WILL eat the other two, though). It’s nice how there’s a sauce bar with some salsas, limes and lemons, and pickled carrots and jalepenos. I kind of wish there was pico de gallo there – that would be just pure awesomeness. Basically, I never really thought of Rubio’s as much, and six out of the seven days, it’d probably be a 3-star review in my book. On TACOTUESDAYS, though… There’s no other place in the luxurious and grandiose Ackerman Union that I would rather dine.

Not sure what the deal is with employees and their cell phone that work in areas of food handling. Was about to order and the lady finishes her text, puts the phone down to take my order, wipes her nose. This lady was later seen in the kitchen after I walked away from disgust. Hope she washed her hands because she sure didn’t after texting. Managers, make it a fire able offense to have your cell phone with you if you’re working in food handling and preparation.

Fish tacos for $ 1.50 on Tuesdays after 2:30 p.m. — yum. Tip — Wait for the rush to pass. Give it til 3:15 or so.

I tried Rubio’s Bean and Cheese Burrito today and it was delicious! The side of tortilla chips I received was disappointing because they were stale! After complaining to a Rubio’s staff member about my stale tortilla chips, the stale tortilla chips were replaced by tortilla chips that weren’t stale!

Service is slow. Took twelve minutes to get my burrito. Chips were old and stale. The alternative healthy burrito was just OK. Probably will be going someplace else next time. This is UCLA dining hall, hurry the f up! If you can’t get me my burrito in t-minus five minutes, then why should a busy student frequent this place which is next to SBARRO’S? Daniel

I come here once a week, I always order the same thing! Regular fish taco and a side of chips! their fish tacos are delicious! the white sauce is bomb. it’s literally called«white sauce» I also love how they have the carrot/jalapeño mix at the salsa bar, I’m the one that picks all the carrots out of the bunch! haha FAST service, girls sometimes aren’t that friendly – depending on who you get. But hardly a line at 10 in the morning!

Took a long time for my meal to come out. But for seafood I can wait… even if it’s fast food/seafood. u had gotten the California Grilled Mahi Mahi Bowl and it was pretty good actually other than the rice being a little dry I’d get it again. My bf had the Blackened Mahi Mahi Burrito and it was a little too blackened to my liking. Overall… free refills for us and decent price. I’d come again.

Thought I would go to Rubio’s for a quick lunch because I was in the middle of an experiment. It’s Saturday ~12:30pm. There were 5 customers in front of me. 10min wait to order. Not bad. Took an additional 20mins for my food. I was order 41 and order 110 got served before me. That’s pretty extreme. Such a waste of my time. I don’t even know if the food was good because I didn’t have time to eat it until an hour later when it was hard and dry. Perhaps it’s because I ordered a taco combo plate that mine took longer to make because everyone else seemed to order some sort of burrito. The only two good things I can say was the cashier was calm and friendly even with the 20-person line behind me. Also, the salsa bar was cleaner than other Rubio locations. People eating here are probably more conscientious of spills than the general public? I’m not likely to come back for a long time unless I don’t mind slow«fast» food.

Horrible food. I asked for sour cream and they forgot and took veggies out of my veggie burrito… It was just rice and avocado… And it smelled fishy for some reason.

I’ve only eaten here on Tuesdays because of the $ 1.50 fish tacos. They’re okay, nothing spectacular. I usually have to drench my taco in salsa because the tortilla is dry and the fish is kinda bland.

Waited more than 20 minutes for my to go order. Everyone after me in line got their food way before me. Turns out they forgot to make my order until I requested my order again. Was looking for something fast before class, but looks like this rubios isn’t the place. It could be that they are really busy during lunch times and made a mistake, so I’ll give them another shot sometime down the line.

I get the steak burritos or chicken burritos. Also the healthy version, which is really excellent! The quality is delightful, and the prices make my mouth water. I have never had any complaints with this restaurant and it is the first one I look for when headed to eat in the Ackerman Union.

I just have lunch here and order the California bowl with chicken. The flavor was good but the amount of food was very little :(

This is one of my favorite ‘fast food’ places. It’s fairly popular with the students as well. The employees are always the sweetest and happy to answer any questions!!! I always have the cabo plate. It’s rather indulgent but so good!!! The Fish Taco Especial is the absolute best!

Rubio’s is a fish tacos joint located just above the UCLA bookstore among the many other restaurants available to the UCLA community. They have a variety of burritos, fish, chicken, and shrimp tacos, as well as salads. I went for a salad, as I have NOT been eating healthy lately. The Chipotle Ranch chicken salad comes in a small container, but was surprisingly filling, and quite delicious. The combination of the chipotle ranch sauce with the pico de gallo, guac, and crunchy tortilla strips made for one yummy salad! The fact that it was only 450 calories is also a major bonus. I also appreciate how affordable everything is on the menu — I don’t remember seeing anything over 10 dollars. Once I ordered, they took down my name and provided me a number. After a wait of less than 5 minutes, they called my name and number, and my food was ready to go! There is a sauce bar that includes lemons and peppers to add to your meal, and plenty of seating in the food court area.

How did I not know about FISHTACOTUESDAYSUNTILLIKETHREEWEEKSAGO. Usually, there won’t be any line at Rubios. Even at like 2:25pm on a Tuesday, there won’t be any line at Rubio’s. But when 2:31pm hits… there’s like a massive feeding frenzy, hundreds of people tryna get their $ 1.50TACOFIX.(Okay, maybe not hundreds) It’s so worth it. Nachos. Nachos, and more Nachos. it’s really the only reason I come here. It’s just so addicting. I don’t know why. I know its like 1,500 calories too but I just keep coming back. =(.
