I just went in today to get some stuff from them and when I walked in the lady actually picked up dirty plastic gloves from the floor!!! And put them on in front of me to serve me what the $&@!!! I was so upset that I just kept looking around and when I was walking out a mouse walked out with me. Wow!!! Please don’t eat here. Crazy!!!

I love this bakery, especially the sasoun market Next to it. I go there for all my quick needs. Fresh vegetables and fruits with the best prices around. But I love Rita’s hand made stuff the most. I’m addicted to her hummus and seasoned pita chips. I’m Greek but Armenia food is very similar so I love trying new dishes. Either frozen or fresh it’s all amazing. So grateful to have such a great market and bakery right around the corner. Thanks Rita and your amazing family, you guys make my day every day I see you.

I spent my early childhood in East Hollywood and this was my favorite place growing up. As a consequence I have really nostalgic feelings towards this location. Fond memories of eating«tortilla with meat»(I didn’t know the name as a kid ok) with my Mom and Dad as we walked home from school, makes my heart go all sappy. So early this month I decided to seek out this place and see if it was still there. Well I’m happy to say that this place is still there and continuing to be awesome. I’m elated to say that the lahmajune still freakin rocks! It’s the perfect lunch treat.(I’m on my third one. yum!) Now go grab some deliciousness, and take some for your mom.

Delicious and cheap breads… what more do I need to say? But I will just add that I had the cheese beorek, which I’d never tried before, and it was great! Cheese, garlic, and herbs on the inside… yummmmm. Gettin’ a large next time!

My first visit to this place was wonderful! I went in there looking for hummus and pita bread and not only did I find what I was looking for, but the guy at the register suggested that I try the mutbal, and he gave me a small one for free. The taste was amazing and so fresh! I will definitely be visiting this place again and suggesting it to friends!

This review is about an older man that works at sassoun early mornings. I have been a customer at sassoun bakery for 10 years. The other day I walked into the bakery to pick up my order when the gentleman was assisting another customer by ringing him up. The worker then turned to me, and started putting my order together with the same hands that he just touched another customer’ s money with. I was appalled and didn’t want to disrespect him by saying anything, so I just threw away my food when I got out. I will never be back to sassoun as long as that man is there. Oh and he also ripped me off for a lemon that he «ACCIDENTALLY» charged me a dollar for, and as if that’s not bad enough gave me 7 dollars less than he was supposed to(once again ACCIDENTALLY) which at that point I called him off on. So Unilocalers, pay attention to how your food and money is handled when you come here.

There is so much to say about such a small bakery. The Beorek and Lahmajune are a spectacular together from the meaty taste to the Cheesy bread nothing comes close to this.

Super warm, cheesy, flavor filled, gooey goodness wrapped in soft delicious bread… it’s a party in your mouth. Must have long cheese borek with coffee for breakfast. Partner it with a potatoe borek. Warning: You will become addicted!!! Street parking in front. Store closed on Mondays(I learned the hard way). Also parking in the back. They also have refrigerated drinks.

I am never one to pass up checking ut a new ethnic food. I was meeting with an out of town guest up at Hollywood and highland for a meeting and she mentioned she was Armenian and wanted to try this place. She is from Virginia and apparently this place is that well know that the Armenians over in DC know of it. So I had an occasion to be introduced to sever pasterie like dishes. It is a small place, no seating. We tried two items the lahmajunes which is best described as an Ameniian pizza, potato borek and tahini bread. I was not super impressed. The place lacked the typical bakery smells and the food seemed like it had been out for awhile. The gal at the counter basically reheated the pre-made food.

I wasn’t impressed with this place. Their savory items are not bad, but not great either. They are cheap, however, but so are all of the other Armenian bakeries in the area. What was disappointing is the service. You’d think that you would smile at the customer when they walk in or when you’re serving them. I worked in retail for many years during college, and was polite and friendly with every customer. Apparently that’s not the motto here, and I felt like I was imposing on their time when purchasing a whole bunch of items.

Grade: A+ The spicy cheese boreg is simply the best savory pastry I’ve ever tasted. I don’t know how something so delicious can cost a mere $ 3.50. If I had only three meals to take in all of LA, Sasoun’s spicy cheese boreg would likely be one. But the boreg isn’t the end of the story. The lahmajune is in strong contention for the best in LA, and the beef sambousak is delicious. The manakish zaatar, unfortunately, doesn’t stack up to their other offerings or to the best manakish-mongers in the area. There’s very substandard seating here(basically a counter with no chairs), but there are several parks within a couple minutes’ drive to where you can transport your haul and get down to gormandizing. This humble East Hollywood storefront is a powerhouse. Any serious eater must pay it a visit.

Bakery has been around since I was in elementary at Ramona that is across the street. Owned by the same man. ALWAYS pumping out awesome goods and NEVEREVEREVER has disappointed me. I hope they stay in business FOREVER. I am now 27 years old and STILL go there although I live hella far away.

Based on reviews of Sasoun bakery, I was excited to check out this bakery and try everything. Located in «Little Armenia» on Santa Monica blvd, Sasoun bakery is not exactly in the nicest part of town. Thankfully parking is conveniently located in the back(but no back entrance). Upon entering the bakery I was a little confused. There were a few mounds of already baked lahmajune, potato borek, a few plastic bags of tahini bread, and a oven cart with a smattering of cheese borek. No smell of baking bread, no steaming mounds of freshly baked goodies. Everything seemed premade well ahead of time. Undaunted I ordered two of nearly everything. The lady helping us proceeded to put everything except the tahini bread into the oven for a quick rewarming. Once home, I tried a little bit of each bread and borek. Definitely tasty and lots of filling. But not as fresh tasting as what I’m used to at my favorite Armenian bakery in Glendale, Sipan. Nevertheless, I’m content with all that we ordered and may return if in the area.
