My husband and I came here today during the lunch rush, only about an hour after they opened for the day and it was clear from the get-go that they were NOT prepared. Shakey’s is clearly a popular place for families and co-workers to get together and enjoy some pizza together, but buyer beware, if you order the unlimited pizza buffet and salad bar like I did, there will hardly be any pizza for you to eat, especially if you don’t eat meat on pizza. The place seemed like it was in total chaos, especially the kitchen and register. Service was not friendly, and the employees seemed totally frazzled and stressed out, especially the woman who took our order. She also seemed to be in charge of handling getting orders to customers and putting out new pizza on the buffet all at the same time. My husband, having worked in the food industry knows this is not the way to do your job. Management needs to step in and observe both employees work and customers’ satisfaction. So anyway, pregnant and hungry, I ordered the pizza buffet and salad bar. People were waiting for up to 25 minutes at a time for more pizza to come out on the buffet and when it did it was snatched up almost instantly. Almost all fresh pizzas had meat on them. Like if two at a time came out it was always two meat pizzas. Would be nice if there was one meat option and one veggie option if that little pizza is going to be set out. The salad bar was ok but nothing to write home about. My husband ordered a simple cheese pizza with black olives on it, and waited at least a half hour for the pizza.(Note about pizza buffet again here– In that time I was only able to get 4 super tiny mini slices.) Pizza itself was pretty tasty, not burned… except that we found a hair in one of the slices. Yuck. Check into sanitation too, please. I’ll probably get a canned response from Shakey’s to this review. Shakey’s, what happened? I know it’s no comparison really but my first experience at a Shakey’s was in Osaka, Japan. Heads and tails above this place. I really hope service improves. Husband was raging angry on the way out. Not my best dining experience either.

Shakey’s Pizza Parlor at Least this one has the WORST Pizza I have ever had. Not to mention it is ridiculously expensive. I do not mind spending $ 40 for two on pizza, however this was a complete waste of money I advice everyone to avoid Shakey’s completely Could not taste the toppings over the super yeasty greasy crust. The staff we good, but the Food was horrible.

«Attention district manager» this place needs improvement by all means customer service. I ordered a pizza with a salad for $ 9.99 plus taxes with a drink. The turnaround time on that small pizza was 24 minutes(kids size) I laughed at it at first. Then went to order another pizza and let them know I am press for time, how long is this one going to take? The manager today on duty said it should take 10-Minutes and she replied that their are other people ahead of me that’s why they took so long. So here we are again I ordered this pizza at 3:59pm on 06÷05÷16 Sunday and it is now 4:25pm still no pizza! I mean this is what shakeys specializes in right? This place is built to meet demand or so I thought. It is not packed in here two families at best and me. I am greatly dissatisfied with the service as the management fails to address the issues and make it right they provide excuses. So $ 32 bucks later I’m ticked off, hungry and writing this review in hopes that maybe, just maybe this will make a difference for the consumer on what to expect or not to expect at his location. I will not be returning. My hard earned money can be utilized at a more deserving and on point business like papa johns or even Pizza Hut no thank you for this miserable time!

Worst experience, I waited for 40 minutes for a medium family meal I asked the manger how much longer and told me it’ll be another 20 minutes(people after & before me had the meals already) I was upset my 4 year old was impatient hungry so I told her to just cancel it and asked me for my receipt I got it and still hat to wait in line for 10 min I once more asked if it was almost ready I’ll wait a few more minutes the manager said«we didn’t make you said to cancel it» it does not take over an 1 hour for a pizza all this time she was so rude! the staff is awesome as a manager she should learn about customer satisfaction! I’m disappointed

My husband and I have been coming to this Shakey’s locations for 15+ years… What happen to their standards on making the perfect pizza We ordered 2 thin crust, medium pizzas 1) pepperoni 2) pepperoni w/mushroom & bell peppers. Ugh both super light on sauce, pepperoni not fully cooked, sauce not placed all the way to the edge(like they use too), crust too thin and semi burnt. Not exactly what Shakey’s is use to making so we were very disappointed.

When feeling pizza here is the place we love to come! Besides the fact that the games are all outdated and have been there FOREVER, literally this last visit seems to have cut the straw. There seemed to be a new employee in training or something but the general manager or idk wgat she was,(AJ, I believe) was so rude. Constantly telling him what to do, not to do WHILE the employee was with customers. He wasn’t even done with an order when already telling him what he did wrong and sent him to do something else. Major tension between all employees that made it uncomfortable for the customers dining there. Employees talking to eaxh other across the room and it was a total mess. We found a table that wasnt too close to the RR and it had trash piled up at our feet. Then the employee who was sweeping jst left the broom at our table and left it there. Didn’t finish picking up the trash at our feet and didnt bother to take the broom. Swept right by the salad bar making all dust fall in it. Im sure. Egh, by far the most unpleasant Dinner ive had there.

I only come here for Brunch of Lunch. They have pizzas, spaghetti, baked/fried chicken, mojos, mashed potatoes, steamed corns, steamed veggies, and a salad bar. Great lunch buffet for $.8.59 plus tax. A soda is $ 2.59.

I work nearby and my colleagues and I hosted a small birthday party here. The staff were so nice and accommodating — also very friendly and funny! We had a really good time and we felt very welcome. I’m sorry I didn’t get the name of the manager who helped us, but she was awesome. The pizza was really good! We skipped the lunch buffet since half of our party were vegetarian and got a large pizza to share. The interior was very clean and spacious with nice hardwood floors. The staff was also very nice about putting birthday wishes up on the big sign out front — a fun surprise for our friend, and the location is so prominent on Olympic Blvd that some of our friends noticed the sign on their way to work — very funny.

I don’t care what people say, this buffet is complete fire AF. Mojos + pizza + sports = dawg what else do you want? Get comfy and come get fat. One of my favorite places in Los Angeles for sure.

I ordered a medium pepperoni olive and mushroom for takeout. $ 20. Tastes like a very good, frozen pizza. Better than Dominoes, not as good as Papa Murphy’s. I won’t make this mistake again, Live and learn. Best value, is Shakey’s personal pizza @ lunch, for $ 6.00. Best deal in town! But, For $ 2.00LESS(incl. tip), a far better medium pizza, may be delivered, hot, by Cicerro’s, and they give you 2 pizzas for the price of one!

Came in for lunch today and had a great time! Usually it’s chuck e cheese for pizza and Acapulco for the brunch, but man oh man this shakeys topped them both! Either I had something on my face or this is the happiest staff because they would not stop smiling. The supervisor was super nice as well. She kept coming over to see how I was doing and if there was anything else she could help me out with. She made me feel like a guest not just a customer. The food was so fresh and really good. Nothing was hot, burnt, undercooked. Compliments to the chef you were on point! Thanks shakeys for the great management and staff!!! Visit was on 01/12/2016

Went here years ago while visiting friends in L.A. I had never heard of Shakey’s, so I was pretty excited to try something new. When we walked in, it was dark and pretty loud, almost felt like I was in a sketchy dive bar. What was actually happening was karaōke, all being sung in Spanish, it was quite interesting. Being from a small town in NH, it was something I had never experienced and definitely something I’ll never forget. The service was somewhat friendly, the place was clean(from what I could see through the darkness), and the food was good. Some of the best pizza I’ve had!

One star review for a five star chain. What? Ok. So when you come here you know what you’re getting yourself into. You’re getting yourself the bunch of lunch and a soda and maybe a pitcher of cheap beer. You will approach the lukewarm trays of mediocre food illuminated by golden light. You will pick up the thin slices of «pizza» and some pasta with heated up ragu sauce. Maybe some steamed veggies. You have to have the fried chicken. It’s passable. It’s seasoned okay. Once you sit down with your party or yourself, you need to remember to grab a fork and Frank’s hot sauce. The Frank’s they have is expired and crusty but does the job. Yum! After your first course you will make your way back to the heat lamps and grab a slice of dessert pizza. What? Yes. It’s pizza but dessert. Basically a pizza crust baked in cinnamon and marshmallows and white cream and drizzled chocolate sauce. Yes. But you can’t taste any of these flavors. At best, you can taste the marshmallows. None of the other flavors stand out or make an appearance in this performance. It’s sad because this dish had so much promise. Come here to be let down when life let’s you down.

I looooove shakeys… I grew up on it here in the Bay Area then they shut it down… I haven’t had it since I was 22… I’m 40 now… this place is still as amazing as it was then. I love it over ALL pizza places and their potatoes and chicken are worth trying with pizza !

My hubby has been wanting to come and eat here last time we were in LA and finally tonight we had the chance to come eat in. No regrets… everyone was happy and satisfied! Their customer service was exceptional. So friendly and everyone that works here were all very hospitable. The pizza was sooo good, we had another one. The chicken was so tasty and juicy!!! Definitely coming back next time.

SANITATIONALERT! Please read: I’ve been living here for years, and the food at this Shakey’s has always been okay. But, after today, I AMNEVERCOMINGHEREAGAIN! I ordered online for a simple medium sausage pizza and Mojos.(I never bother with the chicken because it’s so damn salty here…) I went to 711 and Starbucks first and arrived about 20 minutes after ordering thinking that I may have to wait a few minutes, which is fine. The girl stated that my order will require 30 minutes more because it was at the end of the line due to a mixup, I don’t know. Ordering online = Pointless here! I did not want to wait 30 minutes for the order, but also witnessed something of the disgusting sort as well, so I requested that it be canceled. The girl let her manager know. But, the manager decided to make another pizza(not MY pizza, of course) instead of helping me, so I’m standing there waiting for another 10 minutes as I watch her… The cooking station is just a few feet directly behind the register, so you can see the manager making the pizza. There she is with a handful of cheese and pepperoni, ANDNOGLOVESON!!! In fact, every employee there that was handling food was also NOT wearing gloves, so clearly, they do not enforce sanitation at this location since the manager herself isn’t even wearing gloves.(Not to mention, the manager was making the pizzas without a hat/hairnet on as well, so I’m sure some pizzas came with cooked hair in them. Other workers did have hats on, though. Just not the manager who was actually doing the actual cooking.) Where her hands were before making the pizzas is a mystery that makes me cringe a bit. After making that pizza, she slowly walks over and without an apology or recognition of the problem, begins to process the refund for the order… INCORRECTLY! She gave me a receipt saying that it was refunded, and that was it. No sorry, no apologies, nothing. I get home to check my statement because I could tell by the duh look on her face as she was doing it that she wasn’t doing it correctly. Lo and behold, there was an $ 18.52 charge on my account for the order. So, now I’m wasting more time to dispute the charge! This is what this Shakey’s location brings — Every possible thing that could go wrong at a restaurant went wrong with one single order. I got no food, no service, no apology, and they STOLE my money while proving to me that I cannot trust them with the preparation of my food. The only thing I’m thankful for was that I was able to witness the manager’s blatant disregard for sanitation, making it an easy decision to cancel my order regardless of whether it was ready or not. And, to never order from this place again. I used to love this place growing up, playing Street Fighter 2 when they used to have arcade machines there, but never again will I order from Shakey’s after this horrid experience. I can look beyond one botched order and one disrespectful supervisor, but when management is not enforcing sanitary measures at a restaurant, I’ve lost all trust in that restaurant, and it’s as simple as that. Dine here at your discretion. (PS — Going through the negative posts history for this location, I’m guessing I’ll get a canned response from Shakey’s like others have. If you cannot take a moment to draw up a genuine reply to a negative post, specifically pointing at your customer service faults, please don’t bother me with your meaningless copy and pasted message.)

I grew up with shakeys and i love it just as much now as i did as a kid. Its the best pizza in the world imho. That being said this location can get very busy during lunch hours so prepare for long waits at the cashier.

This location is very much a personal landmark. Before any memories of jumping my bicycle with the neighborhood kids, sneaking into apartment swimming pools, cursing at the drive through of Puppin Tacos there are memories of watching black and white movies of Mighty Mouse on a film reel at this Shakey’s Pizza. There’s something about those memories as a 5 year old kid watching the big mouse on a screen through a flickering projector sitting on top of bar stools with the cadence of «Here I come to save the day! o/~» Probably the most memorable of these memories was when I had caught a field mouse a few days before one of my visits. He was the cutest little sucker I ever did catch and took him around everywhere I could in a gigantic glass jar bigger than my head. One day I decided to use a Planter’s peanut container with a slit across the yellow lid as a mouse courier. I remember getting off my dad’s green two door dust buster and strolling into Shakey’s like I was the shit because I had something to show off. Bragging. Proclaiming. That I had a mouse in my courier. When one of the employees no younger or older than the kids that work there now leaned over the counter to ask to see the mouse. Removing the lid I discovered my gray little friend rolling around unanimated with sounds of clunk clunk clunk clunk. A kid learns a lot through moments like these. Thoughts of remorse, regret, sorrow and where you’re going to bury the mouse. I definitely miss the bar stools, community benches, movie screen and projector over the carpet and booths. And I don’t remember the last time I’ve had pizza here, but I still like to walk over for a winning combination of mojos, fried chicken and Stella beer from time to time. Their chicken is always hot and crispy. Their beer served in a giant super mug. Only Mighty Mouse with pizza is better than fried chicken with beer.
