Nancy is the absolute BEST! I have naturally light brown hair that I bleached blonde for nearly a year, then(stupidly) dyed almost black. After a free consultation in which she explained everything she was going to do and the risks involved, Nancy took me back to the absolute BEST shade of blonde I’ve ever been. And then she gave me an awesome cut to top it all off! I will definitely be going back to her for every hair-related need in the future.

I just moved into the area from Lyon, France. Everybody at silver lake studio is friendly, professional, and well established. I walked in and Hana took me right away. She took good care of me and listened to my expectations and I answered some questions about how I like my hair to be. She is very knowledgable. Silver lake studio is a gem. When the hair cut was over I walked out feeling good abouti myself. I will be back and I recommend to all my friends and familliy

The first time I went in there for a cut I loved the service and everything but this time around I had the worst experience. I wanted a bayalage hair color done to me. I actually hate it. My hair looks like it was dipped in paint at the bottom when I straighten it. I payed so much money and my hair is not how I wanted it I actually cried once I got home. I’m not giving the salon one star I’m giving the person that styled my hair that. I really dislike my hair. Like I really do. He didn’t even ask me what color I wanted I showed him a pic of what I wanted and he decided to do his own color. I HATETHIS :’-(I told him I wanted a straight blow dry I wanted my hair pin straight and he left it frizzy and not straight at all. I had to go back today to get the blow dry cause I couldn’t last night. In the end I hate how my hair looks I wish I never dyed it in the first place now I need to save up more money to get it fixed.

I have a large beard. I came in here off the street, asking for haircut and beard trim. long story short, the man who cut my beard did not know what he was doing, and made straight cuts with scissors of large sections of my beard. Once we started the beard trim, he would snip individual hairs. After two minutes of that exercise in ineptitude, I said that he could take more off, to which he said, «ok, so now I won’t be afraid,» and the grabbed a clump of beard on my cheek that he cut it straight off, without finesse or consideration for the shape of the beard, leaving me with an uneven mess I had to hire someone else to fix. They should not pretend they can cut a standard hipster beard in 2015. I won’t return.

I make it a point to visit Silver Lake Studio every time I am in LA. Raven has been doing my hair for years and is the only one I truly trust with my cut and color. In between visits, I try to maintain my color,(with her expert advice, of course) and then she just fixes it when I see her again! It’s comforting to be able to sit and relax, knowing that you can trust your stylist. The salon is lovely, they use quality products and everyone is so friendly. Raven has been Sassoon trained and is a master stylist. Truly cannot wait to see her again!

Tony is amazing! My husband and I have been going to him for years now– we do not mind driving from the west side. Amazing stylist that is great with both men and women hairstyles. Will always listen to you and will not try to impose anything that makes you uncomfortable. He always gets exactly what I want and I’m a pretty indecisive girl! The salon is chic, cool without the snotty feel(which I appreciate in LA). Oh and you can’t beat his haircut prices. 5 stars !

So today was my first time in this salon and Stosh was my stylist and he was friendly, very professional, and he cut my hair exactly the way I wanted it cut. Ive been to a few different places in the area but the vibe in this salon was welcoming so i immediately felt comfortable. Im pretty picky and he wasn’t afraid to ask questions to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. I’ll definitely be back to see him, I’m so happy I finally found a stylist in LA!

This update is way overdue. I can now say that the keratin treatment is completely worth it. I bought a keratin shampoo & conditioner, plus a styling serum, and this extended my treatment out way beyond the 3 months. I didn’t end up going for another treatment until nearly a year later! The brand I use is called Keragreen and you can purchase off of Amazon, but they also offer a salon brand that you can purchase there during your visit.

I have been coming to this salon for over 10 years. All the staff are amazing and multi talented; Just recently Tony managed to lightened my hair to blonde without damaging it. It looks absolutely amazing! I’m biracial therefore I have really thick hair and it has never been a problem; All the staff know how to deal with my hair type and give me amazing blow outs. This is truly a second home and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants healthy beautiful hair. Stop by and check it out because it gets no better! — Nancy Ardon

This is my favorite hair salon in Los Angeles. I’ve been to a number of different places over the last 15 years and I keep coming back to Tony and the Silver Lake Studio. I started seeing Tony when the salon was on Micheltorena and I’ve never been disappointed. I wear my hair very short and Tony always does a fantastic job. If you want to try short hair and you aren’t totally sure, Tony is the guy to come see. I’ve also done some color work with him, and loved the blond highlights. Over the years I’ve also seen the many of the other stylists at work in the salon and they all have an exceptionally high level of skill in cuts and color, for all ages. I would highly recommend the Silver Lake Studio.

Made an appointment with Nancy(AKA the baddest bitch of all time), went in, got a great haircut, didn’t rape my wallet… in SILVERLAKE of all places. What more could you ask for?

Massimo has been cutting my hair almost monthly for over 3 years. I seriously feel bad if I’m traveling and need to get it cut with anyone else. He has some serious talent. I always feel confident he will do a great job which is important to me because of my work. I’m required to be polish and do presentations in front of many people. I remember asking around town who cut guys hair the best and I got his name from a female stylist. Even she had to admit he really knew what he was doing. He’s always in a good mode and really focuses when he is cutting. Thankfully he started working nearby so I don’t have to consider cross country trips to just get the right haircut.

Silverlake Studio was the first place I got my haircut when I moved to LA three years ago. I’ve tried other places since but this place is my favorite! I usually get my haircut by this girl named Raven. She’s cool, we always have good convo and she really does a great job. I’ve also had my haircut by the other stylists there too when Raven is out. They’re all great!

Excellent place. Brought my daughter for a hair appointment for prom. She had pictures and the beautiful young woman – sorry I didn’t get her name – was amazing and did a wonderful job. On a whim I asked if I could get my hair done as well. Nancy took me and understood exactly what I was hoping for. Turned out great! I’ve gotten lots of compliments plus – and this is the biggest thing – I can actually replicate the style!!! Finally I have to add that the atmosphere was welcoming and music selections enjoyable. Lots of good conversation over the green tea with honey I was served.

Where to start? I went for ombré(which wasn’t that bad) then the stylist recommended a trim but my hair is curly, and guess what? I got the worst Afro ever, is not even and my ombré is not longer an ombré! You can see dark spots at the bottom and she said«don’t worry your hair is curly and you won’t see it»… I got my money back, but I seriously recommend not to go if you have curly hair and for them to train better their people. Now I’m waiting for my hair extensions

So I was lucky and got Nancy. I told her what I wanted and she went above and beyond of what I imagined! She’s friendly, funny and very thorough. Didn’t leave the chair till every hair was where it needed to be. Cute salon, too! I’m definitely coming back!

When I lived in SF my hair was an art project I designed myself, and it was fun for me. It was messy and platinum, and it worked for awhile. Now that I live in LA, I started getting my hair professionally maintained, and it’s been full of ups and downs(mostly ups!). I was frequenting a different salon, but my stylist moved and was only available once a week, so after much back and forth in my head, I decided to give Silver Lake Studios a shot. Paige cut my hair and I am absolutely loving it. I’ve been trying to grow out a pixie cut for years, but I the truth is that I like having short hair. Paige has short hair too, so I knew she’d know what to do! We talked about how I wanted to grow my hair into a graduated bob, and she went to work. She meticulously cut my layers in the back and they lay on my head so well! I had mentioned I wanted side swept bangs, but since I had already took the scissors to my bangs a few weeks ago, we had to go shorter than I initially wanted. I LOVETHEM. I’m thinking I might actually keep them for the long haul. I’m not super into selfies, but I have been taking so many of me with my new hair cut. We talked about how I should come in every 4 –6 weeks to maintain my hair, in order for it to grow out. I had been previously waiting 8 –10 weeks, as I didn’t want to lose any length, but would then have to cut more hair than I liked, as it would completely lose any style. I am very excited to go back and have Paige work her magic on my hair again in a few weeks! Bring your own beverages. I had worked the night shift and then had an appointment at 11am, which is not first thing in the morning I know, but it is for me! I wished I had stopped for coffee before. I also didn’t ask, because I get shy, especially when I am tired. It was $ 35 to wash, cut and blow-dry my short hair. What a deal!

I made an appointment as a first time client hoping that I could find a solid salon in my new neighborhood. The stylist was nice, but she completely messed up my hair… she spent about 50 minutes of our appointment washing(roughly) and blow drying my hair, and maybe 5 – 10 minutes cutting it. I have a ton of super long hair… that definitely was not enough time. For those of you who have bangs, you know how important it is that the stylist A) know what they’re doing and B) take their time… I instructed her to cut them just above my eyebrow and that I curl them under when I blow dry them, and completely flat they now sit 2 to 3 inches above my brow. Don’t give someone baby bangs if they don’t ask for them! Not a good look on pretty much anyone. She also didn’t cut half of my bang line, leaving me with uneven, weird wisps about my face in addition to super-short bangs. Which I of course can do nothing about except wait for them to grow. There was definitely nothing«personalized» about my cut… the stylist had no opinion and gave me something rushed, poorly done, and super different from what I asked for that makes absolutely no sense with my face shape. My cut was only $ 45 so I assume I got a «junior» stylist, but I wish I would have been told that when I made my appointment… I’m happy to shell out for someone who can get it done right, and will definitely not be coming back.

Love how affordable this place was($ 45 for a wash and a cut) and the fact that you could basically just walk in is fantastic. I wanted a semi dramatic cut since I was tired of my long hair and summer is coming so I just walked in and Paige was there to help me. Paige did a great job and i’m so happy with my new, edgy hair cut! Now I won’t be cursing myself out when it’s hot as heck this summer. My roommate had gotten her hair cut first about a month ago by Raven and she loved her haircut as well. I don’t think that anyone could go wrong by going here. Just tell them what you want and you’re golden!
