Still amazing! Now you can order online for pick up, there are even a few seats! Morty was awesome :) I’m giving him major props!

Pretty good! Heavy Gravy, fresh fries, & cheese curds! Morty was very nice, my daughters and I killed the traditional meal size box! Not something you’d eat regularly but if you have never tried Pountine, you should ;-).

This place is very approachable if you’ve never had Poutine before. After reading that this place was part of a chain of restaurants up in Canada, I was pretty excited to try some honest to goodness Poutine from a place that was all about it. Although I’ve never once been to Canada, and can’t compare this sinfully delicious 2am food to how it’s done up there, it certainly did not disappoint compared to other places I’ve had Poutine here in the states. Upon entering, the guy up at the register was extremely friendly, and enthusiastic about the menu, explaining what Poutine was to those whom weren’t familiar. I after struggling to finally decide what delectable variety of Poutine I was craving, I settled on the Steak Peppercorn, and it was an awesome choice. The mushrooms we’re a nice, earthy addition to that perfectly seasoned steak and gravy. While biting into whole peppercorns may have been a little much(I’d prefer them coarsely ground), the meal was everything I imagined it to be. The cook(I think he may have also been the manager) also showed real passion for the place and even chatted with my group, running recipe ideas by us and asking for suggestions. I appreciate a place that really shows an enthusiasm for what they do, and Smoke’s Poutinerie is one of those places. I will certainly be back again and will let everyone I know to pay them a visit if they are looking for a great, fun and affordable place to eat in Hollywood.

It was pretty good! Had the traditional Poutine… But truth be told, the restaurant I work at back home makes a better Poutine. Had a little of the mass-produced, syrupy gravy taste. All in all, I’d probably give it another shot.

«Clogging arteries since 2008!» Hey, at least they’re honest about it! Definitely not the healthiest food, but it sure does satisfy that late night food craving! After seeing a show at Hotel Café, my friend and I were looking for something local to eat(the parking situation around here is a pain). Luckily, Smoke’s Poutinerie was just right across the street! They have a pretty wide variety of unique poutines that I would’ve never even thought of like Philly Cheesesteak, Perogy, and Bacon Cheeseburger Poutines. I ordered the Chicken Fajita Poutine, which comes with grilled chicken, roasted red peppers, caramelized onions, salsa, and sour cream. There was definitely enough toppings and gravy that you’re not stuck with just plain fries at the end. I also had a bite of the Pulled Pork Poutine, and this dish was tasty and quite flavorful, as well. Sizes include small, medium, and large. I ordered the medium, and it was huge – way bigger than I had expected! They really pile it high in that box. I probably could have split it with another person. Atmosphere: Seating is limited; there is only a counter with about 5 or 6 stools. Condiments and utensils are self-serve. Parking: There is a small parking lot that caters to multiple businesses in this small strip mall. All of it seemed to be reserved for valet only.

After an LA Kings game last night a buddy and I decided to get some chow. He told me about this poutine place and I decided to give it a go. Who DOESN’T love fries?! Even better, chowing down on an order of Canadian poutine, which is fries with gravy and cheese curds. The place is next to Big Wangs and Stout burger(please see my review for Stout). It’s a small and simple establishment with a few counter seats and the order counter. In short, the staff is very friendly and sociable and the patrons there were very chill. I opted for the traditional poutine, which is fries with gravy and cheese, and I added mushrooms. There are three sizes: Snack, Meal, and WOW size. The wow size is good enough for two people. My order didn’t take too long to prepare, even while there were a couple people ahead of me. Then my food was ready, and a started my attack. One bite and I was in love. The fries are hand cut and cooked fresh, the chicken based gravy is savory, and the cheese curds are so creamy! Sauteed mushrooms give the poutine another dimension of flavor. The meal size(which i got) is definitely good enough for a lunch/dinner size, or perfect for drunk food. I’m happy this place finally made it to the states! If he hasn’t done so, Burrous’ Bites NEEDS to review this joint. SOSOSOYUMMY!!! I highly recommend this place for great and simple food. They have lots of toppings and several offerings. They even have a frequent diner card, so start saving up those stamps! I actually ate part of my order there, and warmed up the leftovers this morning, and it tasted JUST as good, the fries were no longer crispy, but made up for the fact that the gravy had time to soak into the fries. Next time I will try the poutine with chicken. Maybe I should come here after EVERY Kings game! Thank you Canada for hockey and poutine! =)

I love cheese. I love fries. Therefore, I love poutine. Their snack size is more than enough of a meal for me and I can consume quite a bit. The only downside to their snack size is that you can’t get their speciality poutines. Upside? You can still add a topping to your snack size for a dollar more and of course, I added crispy bacon. They didn’t skimp out on the bacon so I was thrilled. Even though there were three people working there, the wait was pretty long for two poutines. Be that as it may, the poutine definitely made up for it. The parking is kind of difficult to find and there is a valet in the lot. For 20 minutes, the valet won’t charge you, but if this place is busy, it may take more than 20 minutes to get your food.

First, the parking is ridiculous. Valet for french fries is a joke. Finding street parking? Good luck with that. Second, there’s no sitting, no restroom. Third, the food here is the bomb so you are willing to emergency park somewhere, get your poutine, come back in car and eat in the car? That good? Heck no. Everything you order is poured with the same salty, syrupy gravy, and bit of cold cheese curds, and a choice of toppings. Meat toppings are not chunky, mostly crumbs(especially Philly cheese steak) and veggie toppings are cold like you just opened a can from a refrigerator to serve. Little toppings, bunch of mush fries. All cold toppings make the cheese curds harder, and fries colder. They are not cheap fries at all to overcome inconvenience and hassles you go through. I think poutinery food truck tasted much more gourmet like and worth following them. One more thing for sure, after eating here, I had to drink a gallon of water. It is that salty.

We went to Smoke’s when it first opened and there was no seating at all, which is a bit of a challenge because Poutine isn’t really meant to be taken to go — it needs to be eaten hot, and it’s messy. They actually overfill the box, making it even harder to take to go. Looks like they’ve now added some counter style seating, which is a welcome addition, but still not enough for everyone to dine in. The traditional poutine is the way to go — fries covered in gravy and cheese curds. Yep — super unhealthy. I can’t imagine eating even a small by myself without getting sick, so you might want to consider getting the snack size, especially if you’ve never had poutine before. I also tried the chicken chili poutine, which while good, just wasn’t the same thing as the original. This isn’t something that you’re going to eat all the time, but definitely worth trying!

Canadian Poutinerie! What? Who would have thunk? What an awesome find. I love poutine and have only been able to enjoy it at a few fusion type restaurants in LA, so I was pleasantly surprised to see there was a poutinerie! Ordered the Cheese Burger and Chili Poutine, it’s a fantastic combination of poutine and chili cheese fries, it was everything I wanted and more. Crunchy, cheesy, meaty yum!

Veggie Poutine — $ 5.44(small), it’s like chili cheese fries with cheese curds instead of shredded cheese and gravy instead of chili. The fries were medium cut but were crispy and they managed to not get soggy while drenched in gravy. I really can’t say too much about other than it’s a variation on chili cheese fries and that it’s French Canadian. I much rather get chili cheese fries somewhere else because you get a lot more for your money.

There’s not much seating in this place as it’s pretty much a counter with a few seats. The girl helping us was super nice, helpful and patient. They have so many different types of poutine that it was hard to decide. We got the snack size which was pretty filling, and she recommended we get it «for here» just so she can leave the container open and pack it a bit more. Yes! The pulled pork was really great and flavorful. I liked the blend of melted cheese, gravy and pork. The sauce of the pulled pork was a little too sweet for me, but I look forward to trying their other poutines.

I visited here because it was one of the few spots in walking distance from the Palladium that was still open past midnight. The man working the register was incredibly kind and generous. It was our first time trying Canadian poutine and he was able to explain to us all the basics. We went with the Traditional Poutine, and then he threw in some cheese sauce and bacon to our order free of charge! He also encouraged us to check in on Unilocal for a free soda. The customer service was seriously top notch! We got our poutine and the presentation was pretty — a paper box filled to the rim with french fries, topped with gravy, cheese curds, bacon and cheese sauce. I thought the fries were too crunchy, but it made sense once the gravy melted into them and created a soft and smooth concoction. The cheese curds were definitely not what I expected — from just the look of it, I thought they would be brittle like blue cheese, BUT I learned that these were rubbery and soft pieces that casually transformed to a terrific gooey texture that was melt-in-your-mouth good! Because of the foodcoma-inducing nature of the food here, I don’t see myself eating poutine on the daily, but it was enjoyable as a once-in-a-while treat. :-) Until next time!

I am no longer a poutine virgin… Thank you Morty for being gentle and patient with me I went traditional but will be back for for Steak Peppercorn. Love the 80’s Rock n’ Roll music too. If you are doing ‘to go’ get the gravy on the side. The place is VERY small… only 4 stools at a counter overlooking the parking lot but you can go to the bar next door for a seat if you buy a drink.

If I were a Stoner(Which I’m not) this would be the best dish ever… being that I’m not, I’m still tempted to hit a friends joint and order delivery from here and watch movies all night. Lastnight I ordered the Thanksgiving Poutinerie and though I was slightly sad that they put peas on it when I requested it without, it was still AMAZING! I did have to spend 5 minutes picking out all those nasty little green circles known as peas though. I will definitely be ordering from here again, I can see it becoming a habit but it wouldn’t be a good habit for my waistline so I will do my best to limit it to a few times a month… Please make the Thanksgiving Poutinerie a regular. Talk about comfort food. Big Thumbs up… I’m in Love!

Last night, my friend and I stopped by Smoke’s to savor the goodness that is poutine. Smoke’s did NOT disappoint :) We both ordered the snack-sized portion of the original poutine, with a Canada Dry(hey, we’re keeping with the theme). Mmmm. If it hadn’t been for our earlier foray into gelato and other Italian delicacies at the nearby Festa di San Gennaro, we’d have polished off the poutine in a millesecond. As it is, my poutine made a delicious addition to this morning’s brunch ;) Also, the staff was helpful and quick! Thanks guys :) Next time I’ll be there with an empty stomach!

This was my first experience with poutines! As a pescatarian, I wasn’t sure I’d have options but alas, there were three veggie options. I went with the Veggie Nachos which had jalapeños, guac, sour cream and other heart attach-inducing ingredients. The employees were friendly, helpful and pleasant. I was shocked by the price — the middle size was $ 9.80! Most expensive fries I’ve ever had! The base for all fries is the gravy and curds — any special additions are on top of that. The gravy tastes like mushroomy turkey gravy. Not sure if I lie that taste in general. The potatoes were so fresh and perfectly fried. DElish. The cheese curds melted into gooey wonder. I wish I listened to other reviewers and stuck w the small plain fries or traditional poutine. I believe that is $ 2.99 for the plain snack size and $ 4.99 for the traditional poutine snack size($ 3.99 for the plain fries in the middle size and $ 6.99 for the traditional poutine). If I went back, it would probably be for a midnight snack and I’d go as plain as possible — $ 10 for fries is just too steep! I think I’d like the fries with just the curds!

I’ve had poutine in Montréal and Toronto, and I’ve been seeking out authentic poutine in Los Angeles. I love that they’re open late in the evening. I ordered the smoked meat poutine, the Montréal, and it definitely brought me back to my food adventures in Montréal. Now, if St-Viateur Bagel can open up a location in Los Angeles too. This is a chain from Canada and it’s as authentic as you can get. When I was in Toronto, Smoke’s Poutinerie was highly recommended by a local. Smoke’s is the best as you can get(outside of Montréal). The only negative is that there isn’t any seating. You’ll have to eat it standing up inside or outside. Yay for Smoke’s Poutine in Los Angeles! The only other location in California is in Berkeley.

With over 50 locations all across Canada, Smoke’s Poutinerie finally sets up shop in LA to be the 1st to specialize in poutine. There are some places here and there that have poutine, but they don’t capture the same simplicity of traditional Canadian poutine. What is poutine you ask? It is the marriage between french fries, gravy, and cheese curds. It sounds simple enough and yet there are no places in LA that can get the formula right. Seoul Sausage has their own version with a Korean fusion twist, but it’s not the same. Smoke’s Poutinerie makes all their gravy and toppings in house and they get their cheese curds straight from Quebec because if you want the best authentic curds you get it straight from the source. When you watch them pour that hot gravy on top of the cheese curds and everything just melts into the fries you know you are in heaven. If it’s your 1st time you might want to try the traditional poutine without the toppings. They have a couple different gravies including a peppercorn and a veggie. I personally liked the peppercorn. The toppings only make the poutine taste even better. The cheeseburger poutine added very flavorful ground beef and topped with even more cheese. Like eating a burger without the bun. The Triple Pork poutine had bacon, sausage, and pulled pork. They give you a lot of meat and every bite is magical. Sure it’s not the most healthy thing in the world but who cares! It’s everything I love all packed together into a perfect union. It’s stoner food on steroids. It’s the drunken munchies to the next level. It’s what LA has been missing. There is no seating(yet) but you can go next door as long as you buy a drink.
