I had the displeasure of going to Soma Syntax«Studio» a few months ago. Initially when I walked in to Anne’s home I wanted to walk right back out. It was so filthy and the energy so strange that I didn’t feel comfortable staying for my session. There are animals all over the house. Aside from the filth, the living room which has been converted into a treatment room is an extremely cluttered space reminiscent of hoarding — not a calm or peaceful healing environment. Anne herself was also very odd and unfriendly. Against my intuition however(my lesson), I stayed and tried to remain open minded. The session itself definitely did not match my previous experience with Rolfing/CST. Instead of feeling release I left in more pain than I began. Things got even more strange while settling up payment. I was going to check in on Unilocal and use her 30% offer. She looked at me horrified and told me that if I was using a Unilocal deal I should have told her when I booked. I told her I was not using a deal, I was using a check in offer and she looked at me very strangely. There was someone outside the door, so she closed it. It was so awkward that I just said it was fine and paid her in full. There was a lot of miscommunication on Anne’s part through the entire process. Like not sending me the info she promised or telling me she was booking me for a more expensive session, or that apparently you can’t use the deals she advertises. At home post treatment I was in writhing pain for more than 24 hours. I couldn’t sleep at all, and I could hardly move around. This has never happened to me after a Rolfing session. I’ve had at least a dozen sessions, with an amazing practitioner previously and the outcome was always very positive. When I told her that I was in pain via a brief email exchange afterward, she blew it off as a healing crisis. I work in the healing industry as well, and I am very familiar with the healing process. This felt very off. I felt like I needed to be deeply cleansed. Between using my own skill set and seeking out other’s help, I had to spend more money and a lot of time undoing whatever the work was that she did to me. I was gonna let it all fade into the past until I just received two emails from her writing to a group asking if we are attending a class she is teaching(that I never signed up for or communicated interest in) with everyone’s email/name info publicly included. For someone who has supposedly been in business for a lot of years, the lack of professionalism exhibited by Anne is pretty outrageous. I wish there were more reviews here when I was searching for practitioners, because I wasted a lot of money finding out the hard way. I will definitely not be attending classes or any sessions here in the future.

Somasyntax Studio helped with me greatly with craniosacral therapy, a lifesaver. There, my chronic shoulder dislocation and pain was totally reversed with just one visit(monkey bars and falls on the shoulder had caused pain for years when I raised my arm above shoulder level.) My dislocated coccyx(side bend deformity) was realigned there in just minutes. About the animals, they are therapeutic; it is inspiring that she would have a 3-legged dog and one-legged parrot. This is NOT a simple massage studio. It is NOT A MASSAGESTUDIO. Anybody can give a «feel good» massage(that’s what friends/mates are for). Anne Sotelo is a physical healer, an expert in human anatomy and the mechanical(very gentle – never painful) repair thereof. Coming to somasyntax studio helped me avoid medication and surgery.

I wish I could give 0 stars. She is a scam artist playing herself off as a «healer». She’s rude. Doesn’t leave the room for you to undress. Has rescued animals all over the place. You cannot hold a conversation over the sound of birds(which crap all over the place). Gave the worst«massage» I have ever had. and said this as I was leaving: «Its customary to tip you know.» THEN she made no mention of the other 2 massages I had left for the deal I purchased. Avoid avoid avoid. You’d have to be a sociopath to enjoy her.

I have been going to Soma Syntax Studio since 2010 when a back injury I sustained subsequently led to surgery. Anne Sotelo was instrumental in my healing process and getting me back on my feet… Literally. Her advanced knowledge combined with her technique is unsurpassed in my opinion. Over the years, I have been to other physical therapists but never one as passionate about her clients healing and improvement than Anne. She is consistent in her therapy and technique and is 100% involved in your progress. When I re-injured my back, my first call was to Anne to get on the books and set up a course of action. She is incredibly result oriented and dedicated to the her clients healing and progress. I can’t thank Anne enough for all of her hard work and I highly recommend her to anyone that is serious about their own health and healing.

I went in to deal with a nagging injury after spinal surgery. I had tried various massage, stretching, yoga, etc techniques to deal with the daily pain. As a last resort, I decided to try rolfing. I thought the experience was going to be intense, but it turned out to be very gentle. Anne targeted the massage to the specific nerve cords. After almost two weeks without pain, I will say it was very successful. I am all about results — Anne gave me results.

Anne is an extraordinary healer, one with exceptional training and expertise as well as deep, compassionate empathy. I like to call her the missing link because not only are her therapeutic skills extraordinary, she is also uncanny, seeing past symptoms to the underlying causes. An example of her remarkable diagnostic skill: when I had intense pain & numbness in my right wrist, a series of MDs, acupuncturists, physical therapists and chiropractors treated my hand, arm & neck. But nothing worked until I went to Anne who figured out that my habitual downward rotation of my palm — whether typing, swimming or sleeping — was the culprit. She worked with me to resolve the problem with my nerves, muscles, etc., utilizing her body work, pinpoint exercises and lifestyle/postural changes. Given her wonderful effectiveness in that situation and the many other health issues she has resolved for me, my husband and my friends, I give Anne the highest possible recommendation.
