Not sure how to review this. This walk-up at 3rd and Vermont had great street food that recently evolved to ramen burgers(burgers between two patties of fried ramen that substitute for the bun). This is street food, and an experiment by the Lock & Key folks(with whom they share a kitchen), and is usually pretty damn good. I accidentally found out that you can order your food and then go inside the Lock & Key, have a drink, and eat your order there. I’m not a hipster(I’m 64). The former menu was meh, but street-food good, and the ramen burger is a great challenge to street food cred. Kind of fusion burger umami good. That’s all I need at that price.

Eff what you heard. This is Los Angeles’ new home of the elusive ramen burger and as far as novelty foods go, they’re on to something with this. Once you bite into the handmade ramen bun and experience the different textures and flavors you’ll understand. We tried both the OG and the Sirracha burger and I loves both of them. The meat was of good quality and the way the ramen just soaks up all the sauces. it’s special to say the least. Definitely not something I could eat all the time, but it helped soak up the alcohol from The cocktails at Lock and Ley next door. Best thing is, it doesn’t really look like anyone knows it’s there yet. Try it before there’s a line like Pinks out the door!

I haven’t had bad food like this since baby food was invented. The food was bland over salted and over sugary. Lollipop Chicken Wings — Over fried and batted with nasty sugar sauce. This is a disgrace to fried chicken wings. If you want fried wings go to OB Bear! Angry Bird — The name should tell you I was an Angry Bird after eating this load of crap. Salty and Salty. I could of eaten a ball of salt and it would of been better than this crap. Burger — McDonalds does better burgers than this place. My friend took one bite and was like F this place. I tried a bite and I literally spit it out. Tacos — OMG not even edible just plain disgusting. No flavor bland and bitter! There are way to many good places to eat in KTOWN to deal with this trash of a place to eat. Spent a bunch of money with friends only for all us to be disappointed.

HAIRINMYFRIES. Lady at the front had attitude, order took 20 – 25 mins, butter garlic fries were soaked with oil(weren’t frozen before frying), huge pieces of garlic were getting in my mouth, my girlfriend said her hot dish had mushrooms still frozen at the center. Pretty bad experience, but my girlfriend cut them some slack. She said the purpose of this place is for drunk people coming out of the bar right next door, so they don’t really have to focus on quality. But the worst part was when I found hair in my food haha, I threw out the hair and ate it anyway, didn’t wanna wait another 20 mins.

Tried the Kalbi Smash, Angry Bird, and butter garlic fries. All were MEH in terms of flavor and presentation(everything I got was smashed and sparse-looking… and I usually don’t care what my food looks like). The Smash was missing a key ingredient(the mashed potatoes), and both sandwiches were nothing special. I’m rating it a 1 star, also because of the terrible and incompetent service that I received. I will just leave it at that. It takes a lot for me to rate a place so harshly on service. Hopefully you have a better experience than me.

We were waiting for a friend outside Lock and Key and that’s when we saw the DEEPFRIEDPB&J and we had to try it! It was delicious, it looked like a deep fried dough but has PB&J inside. It was amazing, if you’re ever at Lock and Key stop by and try it, its right next door! This should total replace school lunches for children.

Where do you go to eat after a night of drinking at Lock and Key? Stall 239 of course. Its way cheaper than going to any restaurant and its super convenient. They aren’t the fastest at getting the food out but it was still acceptable. The El Gordo isn’t too bad. There was a bit too much slaw for the sandwich but that is easy enough to take out. The fried PB&J is a calorie bomb but I still liked it. I wish there was a little more pb but thats just me.

ALERT: I am currently recovering from FOODPOISONING from food prepared and consumed from Stall 239 last night at approx. 10:30pm. Yes, they are nice, smiling and happy to serve you– and the food is cheap– but obviously their food handling practices aren’t safe or sanitary. I ate the lollipop wings, rice, cole slaw, and sea salt fries at about 10:45pm. I vomited twice and had diarrhea for an hour at about 7:00am when I got up. EATHEREATYOUROWNRISK. The food definitely didn’t taste quite right and so I didn’t even finish it last night. I don’t think they take food handling very serious here. And now this is the proof. No more trashy street food for me, no matter how desperate I get.

For a street vendor, the food was amazing and spicy!(I got the spicy chicken lollipops) Chicken lollipop comes with butter rice and yummy cole slaw. Only $ 5. Free garlic fries with Unilocal check in and they are FIRE! We got them lightly well done and it was soooo goood. Will be back to try their kalbi smash

Oh you sad little shack. You have such wonderful ideas and great prices. Why is your execution so horrible? Why can’t your food taste as good as it looks? So, I have been eyeing Stall 239 for a VERY long time as I have passed it nearly hundreds of times. I always found it hard to come here as parking is pretty hard to find in the area, and understandably so. There is a bar/lounge right next to Stall 239 which probably gives it a ton of business from drunkards. Okay so parkings pretty crappy, what else? When we first came to the menu we saw Amazing prices for the food being offered. Nothing over $ 8, and what looked like a decent menu. We ordered the Angry Bird, Kalbi Smash, Lollipop Chicken Wings, and the El Gordo. We also ordered a fried PB& J. We were the only people ordering food and it took almost 25 minutes which we felt was kind of long, but at least the food would be warm right? NOPE! Somehow some of the food was drenched. The El Gordo was almost impossible to pick up, soaked in coleslaw. The Angry Bird was decent, but too much bread and breading for my liking. The Kalbi Smash had some very rough galbi. The free check-in soggy potato fries we received were FREAKING disgusting as well. Lollipop chicken wings were oddly cut off at the bottom in terms of meat, but the flavor was fine with a decent helping of rice. BUTWAIT??? The Fried PB&J must have been worth it right? YEAH it would have IF I received it. But nope, for the 5th time this year I didn’t get what I paid for. I looked in the bag and it was all gone. Disappointment meet my stomach. Stomach meet disappointment. Absent and slow service, cheap prices, not so great food. With all the other choices for late night food in LA, there’s really no reason to go here.

This was one of the worst meals I’ve had in a while… Let me tell you why. I ordered the angry bird, kalbi smash, kale salad and fries. Me and my bf split the burgers in half assuming they were going to taste good so we wanted to try both. Angry bird: yes it makes you angry. — the bread was not Hawaiian bread — the amount of cole slaw on my bread was so sad which I will post a picture so we can be sad together. Kalbi smash: — Mabey they ran out of kalbi because it was almost all bread — the kimchi wasn’t fried. It was so disgusting cause the kimchi had so much flavor and they didn’t supply us with enough meat so it tasted like kimchi bread. Fries: yes it was free because I checked in but the fries were soggy :( Kale salad: I tried kale before but I don’t know… I just don’t know One positive thing about this horrible experience was the worker was nice but besides that I’m pretty pissed that I had such a horrible meal. Booooooooo okay bye now

Wow. Never has my food looked so different from all other Unilocal photos. So deeply disappointed with my Stall 239 experience. No wonder there is never a line in front of this spot. 1. Tried to call in an order on a Saturday afternoon at 11:30 am. No one ever picked up after 7 rings. 2. Ordered the Angry Bird. They switched their bun to the big Hawaiian hamburger bun, rather than the sliders. There was a very distinct ‘Taiwanese’ flavor to the fried batter. Sort of like going to a tea house and ordering pork chop fried rice, but more overwhelming. Coleslaw was nice though with a peppery kick. 3. Do NOT order the Kalbi Smash. The description said there would be grilled onions, garlic, fried kimchi, and mashed potatoes with the marinated beef short rib. After a few bites, I wondered why I only tasted garlic mash. Opened up the sandwich and couldn’t find mushrooms or kimchi. 4. Is there a recession on actual pieces of garlic and parsley? They were both missing from the big garlic fries. And they took the easy route with garlic salt. Check out my pictures. Just stopped by today, 2÷15÷14. Don’t trust the pics that were posted by the establishment.

I was at a gas station and wanted to pick up quick dinner. Unilocal lead me to Stall 239 which was right next door… My order: El Gordo — the pulled pork sandwich wasn’t too bad… Angry Bird — I was angry when I couldn’t find my bird… Lollipop Chicken — Poor chicken looked busted lol But it was tasty~ GB(garlic butter) Fries — Idk about this one, tasted the butter but not too much of the garlic.(like garlic salt in butter) Highlight — free fries with check in. Overall, food was very mediocre. Great ideas but the execution still needs a little work…

Great food! Be prepared though, if there’s a line, just skip it until later(maybe even another day). Since this place serves food for the bar/lounge next door(Locke & Key), it may take a while to get served. Try the Kalbi Smash and the Angry Bird. Two amazing sandwiches! Kalbi Smash has kalbi, kimchi, mushroom, and a layer of mashed potato. Angry Bird is a fried chicken sandwich topped with a spicy coleslaw. For dessert, go for the Deep Fried PB&J. FANTASTIC! YUM!!!

When you’re drunk everything seems to taste good. So I am not 100% if it was the food or my condition, but I did try to lollipop chicken(they recommended) and the BBQ Pork Sandwich. Both were excellent. After drinking, I always get the munchies and this convenient location(attached to lock & key) is perfect as you stumble out of the bar. I’m pretty sure it this booth is much more sanitary than the dirty dog options that I sometimes resort to on the streets.

So this place is just a window right next to Lock & Key and the 76 gas station. Perfect after stumbling out of Lock & Key and needing some grub to soak up the alcohol — I mean when you’re hungry after hanging out with some friends. Or even before going out — this has some awesome and wallet-friendly grub. Prices are pretty good — $ 5 for the«wings» $ 2 for buttery fries. Unilocal check in gets you a 10% discount. Pretty yumski. Will be back to try more stuff. FYI, parking sucks here. Either park at Vons and dash over, street/metered parking, or if you’re heading to Lock&Key — valet for $ 8.

This place is perfect for night owls. It was close to closing time when my friend and I stopped by, but lucky us, Edgar opened up the tiny kitchen, and let us be his last customer for the night(Thank you Edgar!). We tried the Angry Bird and the Kalbi Smash. The Angry Bird is a Taiwanese style deep fried chicken breast served on a Hawaiian roll. It’s stuffed with spicy coleslaw, which isn’t spicy at all. It just has a nice kick to it. Then there’s the Kalbi Smash which is Korean style short ribs served with mushrooms, garlic, fried kimchi, mashed potatoes on a ciabatta roll. Both are amazing, but I must say the Kalbi Smash is my favorite between the two. The BG fries, butter garlic, could use more garlic. I’m a garlic fan and I don’t plan on kissing Dracula anytime soon. I want my fries drenched in garlic juices, garlic everything. I don’t think I’d order this again unless I have it oozing garlic. I didn’t go inside the bar. I just stayed outside and ate at the stall window. I’m not a drinker and it was closing time anyway. Stall 239 is perfect for on-the-go people who want a delicious bite to eat without needing to be served in a fancy schmancy place. Hmm… Typing this over due review is making me crave the Kalbi Smash.

Stall 239 is a little food stall right next to Lock and Key which is an amazing bar opening soon. I love the concept of good food priced reasonably and served out of a window so you can grab it and go. Kind of like a drive-thru but with quality, delicious food that won’t make you sick. I got to try the lollipop chicken wings, angry bird and fried PB&J. The lollipop chicken wings were a burst of flavor in your mouth! The skin was crispy and flavored and it was cooked perfectly. The angry bird reminds me of the night markets in Taipei. It’s taiwanese style fried chicken served with coleslaw on a hawaiian roll. It was crunchy, spicy and a little sweet(from the roll) and it was perfect! The PB&J was so simple but so good! The perfect ending to a yummy meal! The prices are more than reasonable for the quality and amount of food you get. For five bucks, you can get something way better here than a processed meal at good olé McD’s! I can’t wait to go back and try everything else on their menu!

My bf and I actually came to check out this place on Valentine’s since it’s close to where I live and I’d been wanting to check it out. They only had 3 lollipop chicken wings left when we arrived just after 6pm. They explained that it’s a soft opening, so they don’t have everything, but it was early evening on a Thursday night – what are you going to do for the rest of the weekend? I decided to just get the 3 wings and no rice because I wanted to try other things and not fill up on rice. The wings were ok, kinda feel ripped off by the price though. I also got the heavenly wrap – it was a super greasy scallion pancake with a thin layer of fried egg, kalbi, and bell peppers. It was served with a creamy cilantro ranch dressing which didn’t really match to me. Portion was small for the price. My bf had the Californian sub and fries. The fries tasted just like McDonald’s, the sandwich was actually pretty good, but there are better places for a sandwich. The guy working was pretty cool and welcoming, but he told us he wasn’t really part of the deal, was just helping out for that night. It kind of sucks to stand outside and eat, but since it’s close by, I’ll check it out again another time to see if there’s any improvement.

This«street stall» recently opened near my place and we thought it’d be a perfect place to socialize Benjamin, our little Corgi puppy. It turns out that the owner also has a Corgi, yay! The bf and I ordered: Lollipop Chicken Wings(4*) — I liked the spicy wings and it was served with a large portion of rice. The Heavenly Wrap(4*) — This is a pretty standard Chinese egg pancake; except that the egg was cooked over-medium and I liked that. The portion was small; however, it was $ 3.99. #2 Johnny Pastrami(2*): This one was a real disappointment. My favorite sandwich meat is pastrami and this version is far from good. There are quite a few items on the menu that I’d like to go back and try. Be patient though; right now there’s just one person working there so there might be a wait.
