Love the Sunday Jump folks — they are honest and sincere in their commitment to community and making sure there is artistic space in the neighborhood. No pretentiousness here: if you are looking for the aspiring actor Hollywood type open mic, then this place is not for you. This is a space that is welcoming to new artists as well as established ones. If you are a new artist, this is a great place to start out performing and testing your skills. It also has a consistently varied roster of performers — poets, comedians, singers, trios and this magician guy that is funny as hell. Do not come here with your poetry for p**$ 7; do not come here to practice your wack ass n-word riddled fake gangster rap. This space is about positivity, progressive views, a safe space for women and a place to grow emerging artists of color.

Sunday Jump is this beautiful space, this beautiful piece of LA, that welcomed me with open arms when I moved to Southern California. I am originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. As an artist, it isn’t always easy to find spaces like Sunday Jump that encourages and emphasizes, not only creativity, but community, positivity, love, openness, understanding. I have made great friends here, and though I have moved back home, Sunday Jump and the SJ family will always have a special place in my heart and I will definitely visit when I can. Even if you yourself are not an artist, just being there and building relationships with these folks and the environment they provide for expression and just entertainment in general is enough to make you want to stay and keep coming back. Love you SJ fam!
