How could you not love free music concerts. Thought I’d write this review before summer is actually over. It’s always a great place to bring your mat, towel, and picnic basket with friends and family and enjoy the music of great bands and performances. Last time I was at the venue, Aloe Blacc was performing with Yuna opening. It was the first time that I saw it way overcrowded but crowd was so diverse and an experience worth having. Then you also have those UnilocalERS in their own section., or could it have been a previous concert? Regardless, I have used Unilocal for almost 6 years but never have had the time to «check-in» or review all the places I’ve been to because it takes away from being in the present. Nevertheless, I always look forward to summer concerts here. Find street parking before paying. Yellow Loading zones are free after 7, which is no longer a secret!

One of the best parties I have been to, with a super diverse crowd. Awesome vibe and music, though drink line gets ridiculous. Recommend bringing a flask. Sad that it is coming to an end, and that the last one falls on the same day as FYF… Can we vote to move it to the Sunday before Labor Day?

I originally reviewed Sunday Sessions under Grand Park( ) but I had so much fun I’ll review it again! Sunday Sessions is held on the last sunday of the month and the music is electronic music. DJs spinning that cool, funky, techy-house that really gets you vibing on the«dance floor» under the cool canopy in front of the stage. I spent 2.5 hours dancing amongst fellow park patrons and it was such a good time. Event goes from 2−10pm. Arrive early to secure your spot on the grass. All you need to bring is a blanket, food(although there are about 4 food trucks), and some good vibes. 21+ over bar area so bring your ID. The park is clean and well kept(let’s keep it that way and take care of it). There are also several police officers that make their presence known so I feel pretty safe. Attempt to find a metered parking but make sure you read the signs carefully to avoid getting ticketed. There are several lots in the vicinity that you can also park in($ 8-$ 10). My only complaint is that although there are many NOSMOKING signs posted, people still smoke. The No Smoking policy needs to be reinforced more. Nothing kills the vibe more than when you’re dancing, having a good time when a cloud of cancer is blown in your face. There are designated areas for smoking so please light up there. I love this event and will come every chance I get. Sunday Funday indeed!

Held on the last Sunday of the month, through August, Grand Park’s Sunday Sessions has become a mini music festival. The demographic is widely young somethings with their young somethings friends, with a few families sprinkled around the property(crowd depends on music programming). There’s a beer/sangria and Pattern Bar cocktail bar that’s sectioned off to the side of the stage for the 21 and over set. There’s plenty of shade thanks to the overhead structure right in front of the stage, but you’ve got to get there early to score the premium real estate. Bring your own picnic(no booze outside of the bar area) or dine from any of the 4 – 5 food trucks parked in the courtyard between the stage and fountain. Free, from 2−10pm. Yet another example of why if you’re bored in LA, especially in summer, you’re doing it wrong!
