Ohhh daaaaaamn. This was AWESOME. The owner was incredibly welcoming. The food was insanely delicious and FRESH. Everything is made right in front of you– on an extremely clean line. This is basically Lebanese street food — quick, delicious and cheap. Added bonus: the characters hanging around. Also the owner gave us an entire sampler box of all the desserts… just because– and they look amazing. We had #2 and a #11 and an order of foul — which obviously came with freshly baked pita.(I’m not just saying ‘freshly baked’ — I watched it come out of the oven.) I cannot wait to go back. Also… they’re open till 3am. Could be dangerous… but also YAY!!!

Never had Lebanese food in my life. I was killing time before an appointment and this was one of the only places open nearby so I thought I would try it. Freaking amazing. I had no clue what to get but I ended up getting the Soujouk which was delicious. So glad I went. They have lots of vegetarian options as well. I’ll be back and I’ll be bringing my vegetarian boyfriend!

Best man2ush in west LA(arguably better than ma2ush in Lebanon). Try combo cheese #3 and the zaatar is amazing. If you want to take it up a notch I recommend the foul plate and the soujuk and the kafta man2ushe. This place(and the main Sunnin restaurant that’s a block away) is family owned and ran. Their food is delicious so come here for the authentic Lebanese cuisine and keep your expectations about the service realistic.

The best Lebanese baked food anywhere in LA up to the moment. PLEASENOTE: this is the bakery, the actual RESTAURANT(Sunnin Café) is the one across the street, not this place! And I’m emphasizing that because it’s a never ending issue for customers who want the bakery and go to the restaurant or the other way around:). I come here when I want to chat with the lovely hostess & enjoy some delicious munches, usually early daytime. At summers in general there’s a higher tendency it gets more crowded. Excellent bakeries even by Middle East standards, very good friendly service, it’s a family owned business and you could see the different generations working together. Grandma cooking at the kitchen herself«and her daughter Dolly is running the bakery all by herself and husband», her kids managing the place and their kids helping around. The only downside is cash only and sometimes is lack of car parking which is a common problem of Westwood Blvd! You could park at the restaurant’s across the st., let them know and you’ll be fine. Shawarma is only available after 6pm, they’re closed all Sun. & Mon. morning. They cater and could basically do whatever you request if it’s doable! They have always very good selection of that day baked typical Lebanese sweets and they open until very late at night BUT it’s ALWAYS highly recommended to confirm ahead if it’s late. My favorite pastries in order: Asha’awan(cheese), Laham bi ajeen(meet pastry), Mhammara(like buttery red sauce with nuts). Foul(crushed fava beans, you could see it in my photo) is A MUST.

I’ve had Mediterranean food many times, but I think that this was my first time at a Lebanese bakery. A friend and I stopped by this place for a quick lunch recently and with their recommendations, we tried a few of their baked goodies: Maneesh zatar — thyme mixed with sesame seed, and extra virgin olive oil Mouhamarah — pepper paste mixed with spices, pomegrante molases, walnuts, and topped with cheese Lello — chocolate, bananas, and nuts Aside from the bold spices, the best part about these«flatbreads» was the dough. The bread was so light and airy, soft, and chewy that I just kept going back for another slice. The dessert — lello — had a slightly crunchy crust, which was just firm enough to keep the toppings on. All of our food was made quickly to order. This is a very small shop that’s a great find if you’re looking for something relatively light and inexpensive.

Awesome Lebanese pies at good price. Their dough and cheese was superb. Zaatar could have been a bit better, but my #2 maneesh was still good enough to finish within minutes. As far as the atmosphere, the space is small and quaint yet very clean. Hygiene is obviously high on their standard. I highly recommend paying this place a visit, especially as a breakfast or brunch.

Sunnin Bakery serves up pizza like items and pastries, all very affordably. Mel S. and I stopped in for an after dinner cap off, thinking about something small and sweet and maybe some tea. Sunnin’s space is small, bright, and narrow. You can order at the counter and watch the guys make pizzas, maneesh, etc. We were greeted warmly when we entered, and were directed to look at the small pastry case in the back of the store by the register. This was our first time looking at Lebanese pastries, so we asked a couple questions. Rather than describe the pastries to us, the manager/shop keeper just handed us sample after sample, even though we were trying to be polite(and not gain 10 pounds). Lucky for us, each pastry is small and delicate, which allowed us to eat multiples of everything. We ended up buying a namoura(cream of wheat cake), cashew baklava(which is rolled into cigars), barazek(sesame crackers), and anise cookies. I added on two german chocolate bars — they happen to have british and german chocolate in store, which is odd, but awesome. And we had two teas, black strong stuff that we liked a lot. I loved the cashew baklava the most, then the anise cookies. Everything was a touch sweet, not overwhelming or heavy. Most things have a drizzle of honey so your hands may get a bit sticky. The décor and ambiance are nothing to write home about, but the affordable, delicate pastries are worth a try! Street parking. Sister to the Sunnin Café across the street.

Food was good but… I had the same experience as Ming Loong and Miren when it came to paying at the register. Rather than entering our order into the cash register like every other establishment, the guy appeared to do some math in his head and threw out to me, what seemed to be an arbitrarily high number. I asked him why it was so high and what he was charging for our drinks, as the price of the sandwiches we ordered were posted. He told us the price of our drinks, but even after tax, given the numbers he was providing us, he overcharged. Can’t tell if this guy is inept at math or on the hustle, which is why I’m not giving one star.

I have to admit that the pastries and bread with toppings is good. Watch up for the charges and the change. I would only go because it is near but I have been there 3 times and have seen funny things happen with the charges. Mind you they ONLY take cash.

Never had Lebanese food before? Neither had I, before trying Sunnin Bakery, but now I’ve been three or four times just this month! If you want a good starting point, I’d recommend the Zataar, which is a flatbread with somewhat like a sesame pesto layer covering it. I’ve never had anything with this flavor palate before, so it was really neat to try something so new to me. You think you’ll reach an age where this doesn’t happen anymore, and then you find a restaurant like Sunnin: D If you want something more familiar, they offer miniature thin-crust pizzas or try Fatayer, which is like a thin spinach calzone. The dough is delicious and fluffy without being too heavy or filling, so I’d recommend ordering two items per person. I didn’t catch her name, but the owner is very friendly and happy to make a recommendation if you have questions or dietary needs. She’s fluent in English, Arabic, and Spanish too. Like I admitted, I am a novice to enjoying cuisine from Lebanon. But I have been here with three friends from very different Arabic heritages, and all three approved of the quality and authenticity of the food here. I haven’t had the desserts, but they’re allegedly amazing too. If you’re really brave, you might order the Ferrari, which is like a pizza made with mozzarella and Nutella(WUT)! Maybe the only reason I am docking a star is because they do only accept ca$h money. But there is an ATM inside, so it’s not that inconvenient. Oh, and there’s a tiny parking lot on the right side of the building.

Got pizza and it was good! They tend to close before the time they are supposed to close. One time we got there 15 minutes before the closing time and they told us they were closed already. The old guy(the owner?) is very nice. We asked him so many questions because we are not familiar with the cuisine. He was very patient and answered all the questions we had:) Thank you!

The food is beyond AMAZING. The service, however, leaves a lot to be desired. I’ve been here twice in the past three months, and I have to admit that the first experience wasn’t half bad. The older woman running the place was pleasant, and there wasn’t a lot I could say that was negative about that experience. Last night, however, was an experience that made me not want to return. Instead of the woman we had previously encountered, there was an older man named George there. He spoke clear English and then seemed rather polite, sans the fact that he was clearly under the influence of alcohol. His body reeked of it, and there were moments where he didn’t understand what we were saying or what was going on. I’m a therapist that treats severe mental illness and substance abuse, and I have a clear ability to assess when someone is not sober in my presence. Last night was a shitshow. He didn’t know what was going on half of the time, and he spent most of the hour that we were there barking orders at «Felipe!» … Every three minutes, it was«Felipe!» this and«Felipe!» that… and Felipe didn’t know what was going on because it was clear that this man was drunk and not doing his job. Felipe looked exhausted and also like he was doing his best to contain himself, but there were moments where he would say«George, the receipt is right there. Next to you.» …the other person who was working with Felipe was also drenched in sweat, and seemingly doing his best to contain his frustration with the drunkard that was cavorting around the store. First, the register said the total was about $ 39. He quoted $ 43-something, and we gave him $ 45(cash only!). He didn’t give us our change and asked us to have a seat. It took us over half an hour for our food to come out, and it wasn’t because Felipe and his colleague were ineffective — — rather, they were turning out flatbreads left and right and they moved with efficiency. I asked him in Spanish«Are the two of you the only ones that receive the money if I leave a tip?» to which he replied«NO.» A man and his daughter came in, and only half of their order was ready because the drunken fellow hadn’t written it on the order sheet. He tried to blame the cooks, but he was the only one picking up the phone and writing orders at the same time. The father walked out of the door and turned back to look at George with pure disdain. The food was excellent, but my partner was visibly upset and stated to me that we would never return if George was there. George was drunk as a skunk, and horribly disrespectful to his staff. This isn’t the kind of business that we as a community should support. Please consider seeking professional help, George. There are resources available in the community. You should do so before you hit rock bottom.

Saw DJ Khalid randomly sitting behind us, had some really good food! A lot of places mess up hummus but it was really good here!(My aunt is from Lebanon so I’m very picky about my Mediterranean food) Had kibbeh, lamb kabob, salad and a few other things that were alllllll great! Sam was our server and she was also just a wonderful lady! I will definitely be back when I come to LA again!

I enjoyed their fresh fresh middle eastern pizzas. It was crispy and hot. Their oven is so hot that it bakes the pizzas in less than 5 minutes. Pretty impressive if you ask me. I don’t know how authentic this place is, but I enjoyed it. The meat was pasty, and spread all over the pizza dough. I know this is not Italian food, but in hindsight it would had been nice to have some other fresh toppings in it. Perhaps ground beef or lamb wouldn’t have been bad either.

This was my first time trying Lebanese pastries and I loved it! I got the namoura which was 75 cents and had the texture of a blondie; there was a distinct nutty taste to it and was sweet but not overly so. I also got the cashew baklawa and it was SOGOOD!!! It came in a little pastry tube and was so flaky and buttery with a strong cashew taste. I think it was only 50 cents. Lastly I had the pistachio baklawa which was also very flaky and fresh. There was a layer of roasted pistachios between a thick top flaky layer and a bottom denser layer that seemed to be soaked in some type of syrup. I highly recommend this tiny pastry shop! It’s right across from Sunnin Lebanese Café so it’s a good dessert choice after a meal! And it’s cheap :)
