This place was meh. I ate what was a poor excuse for a carne asada torta… I’ve paid less for better… I’m not eating here again unless there’s a zombie apocalypse…

Agree with the overall 2-star rating. Bland ‘Mexican’ items catered to hapless turistas. We ate there as we were in kind of a rush, and there was no one else in the place; it was relatively early, however, that should have been a clue. I ordered the kalbi tacos, but only steak or chicken was available. Okay, steak it is. Totally underwhelming in presentation or taste! Although it wasn’t horrible, it just wasn’t good. Given we’re in LA, a place saturated with wonderful Mexican eateries both big and small, I guess this place decided to sacrifice quality, as most visitors to this busy shopping center in the heart of Hollywood don’t have a clue as to how good Mexican food can be.

Love this place! It is a weekly staple in my office’s lunch move. Anyone writing a bad comment obviously isn’t ordering the right thing, doesn’t know good food, or is just plain a tourist! I dare you to eat the Galbi Burrito and tell me it isn’t one of the best burritos you have ever stuffed into your face hole! Also that salsa, is sooooooo good! Sun Taco is the bomb!

I don’t know what all the fuss is about. A lot of the reviews sound a bit harsh. I ordered the chicken burrito after I saw a movie at the Chinese theater. The burrito was good despite all the negative reviews.

I don’t get the reviews. I’ve been coming here for the nachos since I was 17. The same guy has been taking my order for 9 years. Never had a problem with the freshness of my food, I love the salsa bar and the guys are nice. You were probably just a dick. I would eat here more if I was a tourist but as a local I tend to avoid Hollywood and highland.

No surprise to anyone following me that I will 90% of the time go for tacos. This time I should have chosen differently. I had asked for the pork tacos but they were out. Chicken or asada wee my choices… asada. It came three to the combo with rice and beans, I went double rice. Should have shed for beans. Rice taste like packaged-90 second-microwave rice. The chips are good but taste like store bought. The hot salsa not so hot. The meat was okay, but okay isn’t good enough. I won’t be back.

Avoid this place like the plague! I just ordered a steak burrito there because I figured you can’t mess up a burrito and I was starving. I made the wrong choice. The following morning I woke up with stomach pains and possible food poisoning. After laying down for most of the morning, frequent trips to the bathroom and taking the pink stuff I managed to survive that mexican food. Now I understand why there were no customers there when I was there. I suggest you starve to death rather than eat here unless you like intense painful stomach pains that paralyze your whole body and make you sweat.

DON’T WASTEYOURMONEY!!! I was at Hollywood & Highland for the Tuesday night jazz and I was hungry. I had a taste for some mexican food and decided to check out Sun Taco. I ordered the spicy pork burrito, a soft carne asada taco and some guacamole and chips. I specifically asked the employee if the guacamole was made fresh and if it was made with«real» avocados. I ate the taco immediately and it tasted good. I arrived at work about 20 min. later and ate the burrito, which wasn’t all that spicy, but it tasted OK(PROBABLYBCUZ I WASHUNGRY). But the guacamole… the WORST I’ve ever tasted. It was chopped tomatoes, onions and what appeared to be liquid green sauce. I was pissed just looking at it. Then I tasted it and was really pissed. It costs $ 3.50, was served in the three section container tray and in the small compartment of the tray. This amounted to about a ¼ cup serving and some chips. All I tasted was the tomatoes and onions, that’s it! I’m guessing they are used to serving tourists who don’t know any better and settle for that crap. STAYAWAY!!! #YOU’VEBEENWARNED!!!

Worst customer experience ever! Terrible food! Terrible ingredients! Terrible Service! Terrible everything!!! Stay away from this place and spend your money elsewhere! This place claiming to be Mexican food is like me claiming to be black!!! Never in a million years no matter how bad I may want it, it’ll never be!!! Went in to order nachos and a quesadilla which I’ve tasted better food made on the side of the streets in Mexico that’s being made out of a shopping cart. The nachos had no chicken which I paid extra for and the quesadilla’s cheese was the shredded cheese you can buy from the market. GROSS!!! It’s seriously not that hard to have your lazy workers shred some fresh cheese!!! Sad sad place and sad excuse for food. If I could give this place a negative rating I would but Unilocal doesn’t share my sense of humor. This is for the manager. Date 11÷05÷12 Time 3:42pm 2 male employees working at the time. Terrible terrible terrible service. I’d had better customer service at Dining in the Dark and all of the waiters and servers are 100% legally blind(if you don’t believe me go check it out in SM).

TACOS&QUESADILLAJOINT If you’re in the Kodak Theater shopping area and want some mexican check this place out. It’s fast and convenient, no waiting and the food is muy delicioso! Hard Beef Tacos: crunchy shell(heads up this isn’t the deep fried crunchy tacos style) with lots of beef, lettuce cheese and tomatoes. It’s the typical taco you’d get at taco bell. I liked it =) Chicken Soft Tacos: warm tortilla, with white meat chicken(a bit dry) make sure you put the ranch/chipotle sauce it’s yummy! Steak Quesadilla: lots of cheese melted with tons of steak, the outside tortilla is slightly crunchy just like I like it! I got guacamole on the side and drenched it with hot sauce. SOOOOGOOOOOOD!!! Only thing I can say bad is they didn’t have Tapatio hot sauce so if you’re a fan bring your own! I’ll be back again to try out the other stuff =)

This place is not cheap, but boy do they have good food. Just a little under 4 stars but more than 3.5 stars. I had the special which was Quesadilla Nachos. OK, it looked and sounded better than what it was, but I think that my expectations were higher just from what I was imagining from the words Quesadilla Nachos. Rob had the 3 taco platter and got 1 each of Steak, Spicy Pork & Chicken. The let down on all combo platters is usally the rice and the rice at Suntaco was middle-of-the-road run-of-the-mill. Nothing special. The Guack and Chips were fab. The food court was nearby for our companion to get something else. My main complaint was that they did not validate for parking. We wound up spending $ 20 for lunch and they could not validate parking? That is what pushed them into the NOTCHEAP category.

Update. I used to love it here. But recently when i went back, the meat quality had gone down. I usually get same thing ‘galbi burrito’ or ‘galbi taco’ and the meat gets fatty and greasy often. It’s kinda half and half i guess. sometimes meat’s normal quality, sometimes most of them have fat chunks… Another thing, I understand they’re under staffed, but need to do something about it. Some guy grabbed my food from the counter thinking it was his, i guess staff was too busy to check receipt or something. i had to wait again for food to be made. I honestly dont’ mind the wait, but i wish they’d up their game with meat quality. I still like their food, just… coudl be a bit better.

I work in Touristville & have eaten at many of the Hollywood & Highland area restaurants, so finally decided to try this place. The kitchen staff were really freakin’ nice, but the food… man. Just, NO. Ate two hard shell chicken tacos. Or was that chicken? I couldn’t tell what I was supposed to be eating as it had been marinated or simmered to death in a broth that must have been devoid of seasonings. Literally, the meat had NOFLAVOR. The only thing I could taste was the lettuce & sour cream. Even the salsa I put on em couldn’t save them from the land of ‘meh’-ness. I had wanted to try the spicy pork, but they were out. Ah, well. Too scared of the blandness repeating itself to try again.

I don’t understand all the 1 star reviews. This place wasn’t terrible. Decent burrito for $ 6, they had a lot of different salsas and a pretty good chipotle ranch sauce. If your in a hurry and need a decent burrito or tacos this place is it.

I ordered a burrito… pretty safe in my opinion. Rice and beans cost extra… what else is in the burrito then? The chicken looked nothing like chicken. And about an hour after eating my $ 9 flavorless burrito, I got sick. Should have just thrown the thing in the toilet apparently. Looks like a good fresh menu… and needed something quick. Never again. Other good places to eat at around there… but was just trying to avoid Quizno’s prices, but would have been a much safer choice for my stomach.

Terrible service and food was bad too. I’m not sure how the cooks make the food so bland. Even the most spicy salsa they had was flavorless. They clearly rely on clueless tourists to stay open as all of the food my entire party had was awful. Avoid!

I was in a bit of a rush and needed to buy something I could eat at the Hollywood Bowl. The menu looked somewhat appealing and the fact that they had Galbi made me wanna try it. I looooveee some good Korean Bbq… Unfortunately, that wasn’t what I got. After arriving at the Hollywood Bowl, super excited for RENT, I was starving and craving my Galbi Bowl. I stared down at really dark black meat, some funky looking kimchi, cheese, and pico de gallo salsa over mexican rice. Anyone who knows me, knows that I have issues eating things that just don’t look right – this was one of those cases. The meat tasted like salty beef jerky. The kimchi had absolutely no flavor and just looked like cabbage gone wrong. I ended up eating the rice, cheese, and salsa. They included chips which I ate with guacamole that was surprisingly good. This completely unsatisfying meal left me hungry and munching on some french bread and Doritos Cooler Ranch my friends brought. Sorry Sun Taco, not sure what’s going on with your food. I’m also not sure how you are still in business. There are many other great places to dine at in the Hollywood & Highland Center. Please avoid Sun Taco at all costs!

i was attracted initially by the kogi-ness of the menu… but it falls far short. even other knock-offs/spins of the korean fusion thing have their own panache… but this one, sadly, seemed really slapped together. i’m not sure the kimchee was super authentic(seemed extremely greasy) — my korean friend who had a bite though, liked it. no tofu option, nor seafood. it’s too bad that tourists visiting hollywood and highland might have this as their only experience of korean tacos.
