I’ve been here at least a dozen times and finally chatted with the very sweet owner. My favorite meal is the roast turkey dinner which gives you plenty of all white meat fresh carved turkey, tasty stuffing, mashed potatoes, carrots and broccoli. And cranberry sauce and gravy. You can get a bowl of awesome soup or a fresh big side salad for 2.50 additional. You can’t go wrong and the prices are a very good value. Even the salad dressing which I love is homemade. I even bought a bottle of it. I told the owner she should sell it in local grocery stores. She said No I don’t want to sell it in stores because they will make me use preservatives and I won’t use preservatives in my food. That my friends is a reason alone to frequent this restaurant more!

Last night I had some of the best stuffed cabbage I’ve ever had. Great portions, nicely steamed broccoli and carrots, and mashed potatoes. The tomato based sauce on the cabbage was delicious and plentiful. I’m in the neighborhood again tomorrow so I will be going back for more! My server was delightful.

Wow! I guess everyone else loves this place. Ordered takeout. Was underwhelmed. The pot pie crust was really hard. I guess I’ve just had amazing pot pies in my life. This one was really bad. I can cook better than these people(and that’s not a good thing). Also, they didn’t bring me any cream for my coffee. The beverages I ordered were super tiny! They also called saying they couldn’t substitute Greek salad for the regular. So bottom line & first impression? They’re stingy & they can’t cook. And I can’t drink my coffee.

Wow! The turkey meatloaf & mashed potatoes with homemade gravy were amazing! And a huge portion that can serve two. Did I mention the homemade gravy?! Next time, I have to try the chicken pot pie, for sure. Everything is just like grandma used to make, but better!

Yes the food was good but I give it 5 stars for their salad dressing which they sell for $ 4.99.

Love this good the best pot pies in la got them probably three years ago as a gift and go back all the time. You can get them frozen and cook at home when needed. Just enough chicken and vegetables In a s lovey liquid sauce perfect for two with a salad. Owner from Eastern Europe and her food taste like you are at someone’s home

When Kate Mantellini’s closed, I lost all hope of a good chicken pot pie… I even tried a Marie Callender’s frozen pot pie, and discovered a plastic fork in it! But now, having stumbled upon The Main Course, I am delighted and a huge fan of this local restauant. For those people who negatively reviewed the ambiance of this little Mom and Pop instead of the food, I beg to differ. We don’t eat ambiance, and always have the option of take-out…Let’s support our local small businesses as the franchises take over our city. The alternatives… Marie Callenders? Mysterious plastic forks? Highly recommended for the food!

Wonderful home style restaurant, something that you would find in New York City. Loved the choices on the menu, and the patrons all seemed to be regulars. I had the lamb shank which was delicious, and my friend had the traditional turkey dinner. We had the soup and salad with the meal, my split pea was great, and his salad really large. Dessert, we had home baked carrot cake, cookies and the coffee was exceptional. The whole time we dined, there were big parties coming in and not a table to be had without a reservation. The restaurant is family owned and operated with great service, and that personal European touch. I look forward to going back here again, and next time trying their Chicken Milanese, which looking just like Wiener Schnitzel. Great choice if you have the chance to try it! Very beautiful murals on the walls that were painted by a friend of the owner and really made the restaurant very lovely.

My last visit here was great. It was an odd time of day, so we had the whole place to ourselves. The food was good. Almost homecooked feel. :) the Ambiance is a bit lacking, however. The service was good. I will stop back by when I am in the area next.

Based on delivery! Had to work in and food got to my hotel in 24 minutes! This IS L.A. and I usually go out but Unilocal had good food reviews which I agree with to the nines! What a gem, a true find! I started with the Split Pea Soup which was thick and tasty with a wonderful hint of thyme. The Chicken Pot Pie was enough to share, had a perfect creaminess and a nice flavorful crust! SO big! It came with a side house salad that was big enough to stand alone! The house dressing not too tangy! Just right! Got a yummy side of carrots and an Apple pie with blueberry slice. I’ll definitely try stopping in next time I’m in town.

Very nice staff here. The owner is very nice too. I like their lunch specials. I come here frequently for lunch during work. The Tuna salad is great. Also they have a turkey soup which is good. This is an option with the lunch special. Split pea soup is good too also very simple

Very delicious. Home-made style. Self-made baked bred. Their apple pie with cherries is very good, too.

I guess common courtesy is not so common anymore. We have been coming to The Main Course for several years now. We bring out-of-town family and friends to this quaint restaurant. The food has always been delicious and the owner is very gracious. I suppose that is why I am so shocked at the treatment we received tonight from the waitress. We were told to sit at a table by the door upon entering the restaurant. Since I am getting over bronchitis, we moved over to the four-top away from the door. We tried to explain this to the waitress but she neither understood or cared. She huffed and practically threw the menus at us. When she returned to take our dinner orders, she told me that the cook would not cook any pasta since she wanted to close the kitchen at 8:30. It was 8:15 at the time. She also let us know they would not be making any pot pies for the same reason. As I was trying to think of another entrée, my partner ordered a bowl of turkey rice soup and a garden salad. Before he finished his order, she said she’d check with the cook and immediately returned to let us know that there was no soup for us. What??? Honestly, it was her awful attitude that made us leave. We left The Main Course and went to another nearby restaurant. Happily, we were greeted and treated as guests

I actually didn’t really want to write a review for this place because I’m afraid the secret will be out and this place will get super crowded and the prices raised. :D This is probably our favorite restaurant hands down(and our super-picky-eating daughter’s too). We’ve tried the Split Pea Soup(our favorite and must have), Chicken Pot Pie, Ukrainian Stuffed Cabbage(my favorite), Romanian Stuffed Eggplant, Hungarian Beef Goulash, American Fresh Roast Turkey Dinner, Bavarian Lamb Shank(hubby’s favorite), Chicken Milanese, Shrimp Scampi, and Pasta with Mushroom Sauce(daughter’s favorite). Every single dish has been amazingly flavorful and perfectly cooked. Even their homemade salad dressing is so good, we joke that they must put crack in it. Our daughter is such a picky eater and this is the only restaurant where I’ve seen her eating her food so much and so fast like someone’s taking it away from her. We had to tell her to slow down! Whenever she learns that we are meeting friends here, she’d request their pasta for us to take back for her. We’ve taken several friends here and they all loved their dishes. Some have become regulars here also. Oh, and don’t forget to try their desserts! Parking is easy to find. There’s metered parking along Pico or you can park around the corner by KFC in the residential area for free.

We had just bought our Entertainment books and this was the first place and closest to me and sounded yummy so we gave it a try. It was smaller than expected but very nice cosy ambiance with candles on the tables. The staff were very attentive and pleasant. The house salad and house dressing were FABULOUS. The only thing that could improve it would be a sprinkling of goat cheese Soft warm rolls were served with the dinner. We both had the lasagna. I had the Turkey lasaga and my guest had the vegetarian lasagna. It was stuffed with yummy veggies. It had melted cheddar over it which was unusual but tasty. The menu is quite extensive so we will have to return and try more dishes! Garlic shrimp linguini and other dishes.

Me and my friend have been eating at this restuarant for years. The food we ordered like the Chinese chicken salad, chicken pot pie and chicken rice soup was as good as usual. The problem this time was the rude wait staff. At 8:30pm we were both thrown out of the restuarant because they said they were closing up for the night. They normally close at 9pm.

Constantly, you played through my mind like a symphony There’s no way to describe what you do to me You just do to me, what you do And it feels like I’ve been rescued at… THEMAINCOURSE! — Selena Gomez(love you like a love song baby) Comfort food away from home… no complaints here! When you don’t get mom’s homecooking in a long long time, you do miss it once in a while :) So many things to choose from but I went for the turkey dinner and it was a huge plate of food that came with all the thanksgiving fix ins! Homemade mashed potatoes, stuffing(so good), vegetables, cranberry sauce and gravy… sweet. The homemade chicken pot pie was soooo good, super filling so come hungry! Just a hearty meal that fills you up and makes you think of home.

Geriatric ward. I think I just ate food served in a cafeteria. All the stuff is homemade? Does that include if frozen first? I got the Hungarian Goulash. The meat was tough, very saucy, the mashed potato was a perfect scoop, and a side of carrots and broccoli. Blah. I ate half, and got the other half to go… which I may throw out. 10 tables max. The place would be cute, in 1987. Skip.
