Apparently, the crowd moved to a place called the«Medusa Lounge» Look it up. It’s like that cool nerdy girl in school got plastic surgery and all of a sudden, she’s too cool for anybody.

I WILLMISSYOUMOUNTAINBAR!!! My partying ways will never be the same without you! I will always remember how I had to drive a million and one times in a circle just to find you because Gin Ling Way is not really a street! Or how your stairs made every girl in stripper shoes almost eat sh*t. I will miss making friends in the restroom line upstairs and drinking Red Strips as I danced to the best hip hop in town. Or how fun those little kiddie rides seemed after spending all my allowance inside your awesome bar. Oh life is so unfair and cruel!!!

It all depends on what you are looking for … This place used to jump a few years back. there was raggae in one room and real hip hop upstairs(not that RACKRACKCITY bull you hear on the radio). There was a good mix of people from all walks of life, it was just a very chill vibe . My how things have changed. i came on a friday night around 11 and it was almost empty, 40 people at best and thats pushing it. I figure it would get jumping around midnight… i was wrong. it was probably 25 people still there. If you are looking to party it up dont go here. If your looking to chill with friends in a place that is not crowded and hear some good music, this is the place for you . It all depends on what you are looking for …

First off, I should say that this place is chill, not bad at all… However I used to absolutely love love love this place. This used to be the place where i KNEW I would have a good time… that is until they stopped having the reggae nights there. I went there last night and it seemed like they didn’t want any kind of dancing there. They put out the couches and everything. The bartenders were cool and attentive and it didn’t take us long to get our drinks so I guess that a good thing. I think the reason it didn’t take long though is because there wasn’t anyone there. I’m giving it only two stars because it just sucks that it changed.

I’m gonna keep this quick and to the point because they deserve no disclaimer and I have absolutely none to offer, I arrived in a fine mood. Absolutely cannot dance, no quite literally, I was stopped and told I was going to be thrown out for dancing. Apparently they have lost their dance permit and yes, even the most casual swaying is considered dancing. Had the same bouncer physically pull my drink out of my hand when the lights came up because well, it was 1:45 and that’s when you physically kick people out of a bar. Oh and the bartender was a chump. Amateur hour in little chinatownland. Actually use to dig this place.

Oh this place is a total foot-tapper! You won’t find any of those trendy hollywood fucks here. It’s a small 2 story joint… cold rockin the spot! On certain nights, they’ll have hip hop karaōke upstairs. On the 1st floor, they’ll usually have some radio tune featuring PitBull aka mister three-oh-five, aka mister worldwide! No one ever says PitBull is the best rapper. Is it because english isn’t his 1st language? it is because he’s cubano, blue eyes? People say his lyrics are no good. Lindsay lohan wanna sue him because he says she locked up!?! J. lo: You know pitbull, I wanna make a come back! No one appreciates his music… that YOU dance to at the club!!! YOULOVEHISMUSIC(you know you do). Why does everyone say«I love that Neyo song — tonight, I will love love you, tonight». No one ever says: «I love that pit bull song» Everyone forgets PitBull lay down the FUEGO on that jam! Que? Como? Dale!!! CALIENTE! Anyways, everyone is straight up chill at this joint whether you’re here to legitimately tap your foot or just cop a drink with the homies. The best part is you can literally come in your sweats and security won’t sweat you. Your Homegirl, Violy

I would like to give it 3 stars but I feel that would be an exaggeration. Came here once on a whim a Friday night with 2 of my frineds, it was alright I guess. The downstairs area was the smaller sized dance area and with that being said, I don’t know why it was necessary to have a 7 foot Christmas tree taking up 70% of the dancefloor. Can’t say I became a fan of their skimpy drinks either. We go upstairs and it was a bit bigger but it was still too damn crowded. I personally hate small places. So off we went. Went back a few months later and came across a long ass lone. Thought I wasat six flags for a minute waiting to get on a ride. Really? It’s not that great here. Lol. Probably won’t go back on a weekend EVER again.

Just came back from the Chinatown Summer nights. We came across this bar after getting a tad thirsty from wandering around. The vibe is mellow, stereotypical dive bar… it would rate a 3 stars(C grade), but docked it to 2 stars because the drinks were crap. The sangria is clearly been sitting there, resulting in the lukewarm sangria even with the ice put in it. The mojito was nothing memorable, but I guess throwing in a lychee is due to the joint being located in Chinatown? The people here are mellow, which is great, the DJ is not bad, there’s space so it’s not shoulder to shoulder… but, can definitely be better.

The 3 Star«A-OK» is definitely how I’d describe this place. The staff are all nice, drinks are relatively priced well, and there’s usually no line outside. I’m not crazy about the décor, the walls look like blood is dripping down them. It kind of has a divey feel to it, except for, I don’t think it’s on purpose. I just think it’s sort of dated. Also, the dance floor can get super packed, I’m not a fan of constantly running into other people. It feels more like a mosh pit, than a dance floor. The DJ’s there are definitely hit or miss. Parking can be a hassle, although, I’ve been lucky.

I LOVEITHERE!!! Friday nights are Reggae Night downstairs and upstairs they play old-school Hip-Hop. I am always guaranteed a night of dancing because I love reggae and they let you walk in and out. Soo my friend and I always walk back to the car and drink some more or *ahem* shmoke… and then we go back inside. I come here way too often, but how can I not? No cover charge and great music! Not to mention… there is a hot bouncer who is always there. :) If you haven’t visited here before, then you should definitely give it a shot. Parking is only $ 5 and your car is safe for the night.(Don’t have to worry about getting a parking ticket). Get there before 10pm to avoid waiting in line and pre-party in the car!

What a weird place! Definitely a dive bar, and I guess they own it, so… who am I to fault them for the ambiance? Drinks were over-iced(you read that right), beer selection was meh. The music — HEY-ohh, I think I left the place with advanced tinnitus. Thanks to the SPL Meter app we learned that standing anywhere on the dance floor was well into the«threshold of hearing damage» range. No kidding. Ear-splitting volume in the whole place unless you ducked into the back corner of the upstairs bar — and even that was loud. The clientele mix was… interesting. Some 20-something professional-types with a handful of sketchy borderline-homeless druggie types upstairs, and the ghetto-fab crowd downstairs. It was a bit unnerving having all those self-segregated groups in the same establishment. My friend’s wallet was stolen along with her phone’s battery(what??). Parking was fine, free meters at night. Silver lining.

While most Sunday nights are best spent in the coziness of one’s own home watching a movie and turning in early for the night, there are some Sunday evenings when I all I want to do is have one last go at the weekend and fist pump the night away. Those Sunday nights call for a trip to Mountain Bar, where there are DJs spinning some music seriously designed for dancing all night long. While other bars nearby where closed or deserted, a group of us came in late a few Sundays ago to find a pretty decent crowd and a whole line of DJs waiting to go. It does take a little bit of a nudge to get everyone up and dancing, but once they do the floor gets surprisingly busy. The drinks are fairly expensive for the divey atmosphere of the place, but another benefit of Sunday night was that we didn’t have to wait at all for our orders. A special thanks to one of the DJs who picked up and safely stored my keys when they fell out of my pocket as I was beating the beat!

I’ve heard a variety of opinions about this bar and after finally experiencing it for myself, I would say this Bar is pretty chill. I went friends and there wasnt a cover charge. The night went well. The place wasn’t as packed as stories have told and the air conditioning was great! There were spots that were colder than others but I didn’t break too bad of a sweat. I ordered a long island ice tea and it was delicious! The bartenders are really nice, especially the ones downstairs. The music! Reggae is downstairs and Hip Hop is upstairs. Both rooms were crackin but the Reggae room kept playing the same songs over and over. The bathrooms both upstairs and downstairs had pretty long lines and there is an outside bathroom but its charges 25 cents. I would come dancing here again!

So I’m walking around Chinatown Plaza area, trying to find Unilocalers in Asian Poses(for Alvin V’s UYE). Unfortunately, nobody is there(and usually I’m the one fashionably late to events). While wandering about and at first I thought to myself, this can’t be mountain bar? Went to some small and loud blasting bar from around the corner by mistake. I finally got inside and inquired about the event and they told me it would be open once Alvin got there. Heading straight to the bar, I needed to get loaded on alcohol so I can stay entertained and sauced up until the end of the night. –5 Jack and Cokes –2 Gin and Tonics The music ambiance was a mix of a nice mash up between house and old school hip hop hits in the first hour. Then everything became pretty wack(ever heard of Taylor Swift going well with a Snoop Dogg song, didn’t think so?). Well they have a decent place to dance, but unless you were dissonant on rhythm and attempted a comeback with Vanilla Ice x Michael Jackson dance moves, even JC Chasez would back hand you with his Mickey Mouse Club gloves. I thought Alvin and I were gonna battle it out, but he punk’d out because he was busy making faces like this O_o or ^ _. After the evidence of cam-whoring and questionable freudian like poses, I reflected and spent about a good $ 30.00 worth of damage to be tipsy and act AZN overall. For drunken munchies, I think we went to Full House later(correct me if I’m wrong). Otherwise, a good night indeed with Unilocalers, failed attempts at Tagalog, and re-learning the benefits of looking Kawaii in front of a digicam. P. S. They also have this Black and Red clash of color décor thing going on in here like Far Bar and Avalon.

Mountain Bar, kind of sounds like Magic Mountain, but not really. This two story bar located in the middle of China Town was jam packed with people when I came on a Friday night. It was between this place and Grand Star, another bar a few stores down. Since Mountain Bar had a long line, we decided to go here, since it looked more«Popping.» I was with a group of girls, and being that the line was long, we sweet talked our way with the bouncer to let us in without waiting. I’m telling you, there’s always perks to be with a group of girls. So ladies, strut your stuff if it’s girls night out. And fellas, go with a bunch of girls; you’ll probably get in faster. Btw, no cover with our VIP entrance, nor for those waiting in line. As we walked in, we quickly realized how packed this place was: dance floor, bar, hall ways, dance floor up stairs. But we did manage to walk around without having to push and shove between sweaty people, which is always a plus. I don’t need to smell like a stranger’s B.O. Music was strictly reggae, which is cool, but only for so long(for me that is). I wish there was more variety, but I guess that’s how Mountain Bar does it on a Friday night. Would I come here again? Sure. being that I was in the area, and perhaps on a night different from a Friday. Maybe they’d have better music then. Oh yeah, parking! There’s a few parking lots where you pay $ 5 – 7. And parking is free on the streets at night, but sometimes hard to get.

Things I like about Saturday nights: 1) no cover 2) cheap drinks 3) good hip hop/reggae music to swing your hips to Things about this place that makes me want to slice my carotid artery: 1) stupid lines after midnight 2) sticky floors 3) plethora of un-cute boys 4) sweaty, groping hands You can take your chances and hope to have a good time, but it’s like hoping that STD actually came from a toilet seat. So yes, it’s possible.

So there was this epic event, see… And it was at this place. I liked the bartender. I think I bought a round for 4 of my friends and 3 for myself and the total was under 55 bucks. Not bad a’tall for LA. The bartender was on point, even with the massive herd of Unilocalers who stick to a bar like, well, fuck it, we likes the drink, ok? The music was pretty dope. Reggae downstairs and some Fuckin Bomb ass old school Hip Hop. I mean, c’mon. Supersonic? Debbie Deb? Biggie? Sign me the hell up for the next gig this DJ spins at. And I love some room to dance and didn’t ever feel too crowded on the floor. That makes the boogie even better. It did get pretty warm in there. But considering all the grooving and shaking I was doing, I thought it was rather mild for a night of drinking and dancing… As fun as it was, I thought the best part was the outside activities on the helpful benches with the Unilocalsters and the socializing. Chico and his kamakazi photos, Austin with his drunking tit grabbin, Amanda with her obsessive picture posing and everyone else just having a great time with friends. A cool find that I will be returning to soon.

I feel violated … I haven’t been touched like that in a while. When did they start searching you when you go into a bar? I don’t know exactly what they were searching for but I guess they weren’t searching for any ganja because you could smell it in the air even if you were outside. I guess I can’t complain too much because they do let you go in and out so whatever it is they don’t let you bring in … you can have easy access to it if you park off Hill. Oh and put some kind of partition in the restroom so that more than one person can use it at the same time. Other than that … because of the company and good times I had at this place, I would not be opposed to coming back. I will know what to expect on my 3rd visit.

I can take or leave this place. The main room has a small dance floor and the bar. You can also go upstairs to a bigger dance floor but you will feel like you are in an enclosed box with no ventilation(low ceiling). I had fun the night I went — but I actually drank that night so take that into consideration. Would I go here again? Ehhh, probably not unless I happen to be in this area.
