While I was reticent to try a juice cleanse, I did get to the point where I needed something to make my head clear. A year of stress/injury/trauma had left me chronically foggy, and no subtle changes of diet or habit(I already exercise all the time — I even purchased a vitamix to drink green smoothies for lunch and started taking enormous amounts of spirulina) had helped much. I purchased a discounted Raw Juicery thing on Groupon, and thought: how much more damage could this do me. I mean, it’s 3 days. The worst thing that could happen is I’ll lose 2 pounds. What I could not have imagined was how three days drinking really nutrient-rich, low-sugar juice could help me. My stomach went totally flat(I will do this in the future before weekend weddings in Hawaii!!!) It helped me reset my way of thinking what I put in my mouth every 2 hours. It reset my memory — my memory of what I actually WANTED to eat. The juices are delicious(but every juice cleanse says that — these really are and they are low in sugar, too.) I did an Erewhon juice cleanse as well — it was about twice as expensive and it’s really the only cleanse that can compare to this one. Here’s how they differ: Erewhon juice cleanse: $ 285 without delivery(The Loved One drove to Erewhon to pick it up for me). Raw Juicery cleanse: $ 125 with delivery(at 5am and they’ll send you a text with a picture of the juice in front of your door). Erewhon juices are 16 ounces and come in glass bottles(you pay a small deposit and will get the deposit back, but getting the bottles back is a bit more hassle than it’s worth). Raw Juicery juices are 12 ounces and come in plastic bottles. I expected that the Erewhon premium would be worth it just for the extra amount of juice and perhaps the freshness and definitely the glass bottles, but none was the case(for me). About a quarter of the Erewhon juice went to waste — I just couldn’t consume that much juice and the required water per day. And the juice gets consumed so quickly that I didn’t care too much about the plastic bottles. Also, I have seen people return glass bottles to Erewhon SOGROSS and moldy and just disgusting that the thought that they reuse them for my juice cleanse is sort of horrifying.(No matter how sterilized.) Sometimes you get an image in your head and you can’t get it out. And the people returning bottles to Erewhon are gross.(I love Erewhon… but you guys have crazy gross customers who return moldy crusty bottles right at the check-out line.) Anyway, Raw Juicery is great and I’m about to order another cleanse from them. Not because I feel like I really NEED a cleanse, but just because I felt so great after the last one. If anyone has private juicing questions, please don’t hesitate to message me – I had so many questions about juice cleanses in the LA area, and no one to ask about them.
