You know that episode of The Simpsons where Homer sees the Venus de Milo gummy displayed safely in a secure glass case in a museum setting? He looks at his doting wife and stage whispers his plan to liberate the sweet: Homer: «Now, this is going to take all my skill… heh, heh, heh!» *Smashes glass with fist. Alarm sounds* Yeah, that’s how I feel about this place.

I really liked this place(the small room in the shape of a semi circle). Went on a Sunday night with my friend, and hung out while enjoying the colors and round acoustical room. All the while listening to conversations that bounced off the walls from one end to the other. It was pretty cool. I probably wouldn’t like it on a busy night, and apparently it’s more of a guy’s hang out spot. Not sure if they have a full bar.

One star for décor. another one for the girl ‘bartenders’ since they seemed friendly. I guess. We asked a ‘bartender’ if they had a full bar. The girl blinked at us and replied… «Full bar? What’s that?» … Enough said. There are only about 5 drinks in the cocktail menu and that’s all they can make.

It’s too bad that the shadiness and ghetto flavor of this place isn’t a draw. I love that about dive bars of any culture. And for those of you who are fans, not that this is a dive bar but we both know it’s thousands of miles from«bourgie.» From the friendly bouncer who talks a lot to the bitchy girls waiting for the bathroom to the men stumbling around in drunken stupors, I personally enjoyed all the different types of people you might come across. Everyone eating and drinking inside is just having a good time. Our service was fine and while the drinks were on the more expensive side, I guess they have to pay rent somehow if all they serve is popcorn chicken and fried chicken gizzards(both of which are DELICIOUS). I had a great time with my friends and look forward to coming back!

This establishment doesn’t even deserve a single star. I can’t believe the only 2 reviews this place got prior to mine were giving 5’s. The sign on top of the place should give it away already that this place is a pretty shady. When you walk in, there’s a section on the left that appears to have a bunch of rooms with closed doors. I assume they were for karaōke. On the right, it’s a small bar, and a bunch of booths. We came here with 4 guys and 2 girls, and when the girls asked for cocktails, the waitress(who i must say was quite a hoot) told us that they primarily do bottle service and that cocktails aren’t really made. Bottles run from $ 170– 200 per bottle which are pretty standard prices. The place had a few Korean waitresses, and each one was basically attending to their own patrons. Hm… Our waitress, told us to get out while we could, that the place sucks and isn’t worth it. Drinks were $ 13 a shot, and the shot glasses weren’t really even shot glasses. They were barely even recessed. I think the total volume was close to 1⁄3 of a real shot. The Red is certainly a place where things go on behind closed doors. Those rooms probably aren’t really meant for karaōke.

the red a half/half of two extremes… enter and right relaxed red lounge… highend liquor drinking… enter and left loud makeshift«pojangmacha» drinking… focus on left with tin tables and stools… pochangmacha being makeshift sidewalk tent restaurant in korea… the red imitating the outdoor tent feel… complete with wheeled food cart prop front and center stage… pot of soup simple spicy complimentary… simple korean cooking… the basics enjoyed with soju and beers… capturing the essence of outdoor low-key pochangmacha dining and drinking…

I’m here right now getting my drink on! Woohoo! Edit: 08÷05÷08: Now that I am able to write a decent review… I will share my experience here. It was the first time I’ve been here since they remodeled a few months ago. If you wanna feel like you’re in Korea at a pojangmacha(ya know… the little carts on the streets of Seoul that serves soju and good eats) this is the spot. Even though I am a pure blooded Korean I suck at drinking soju and don’t enjoy it that much but for some reason… this place made me wanna drink it. I guess it was the old Korean pojangmacha feel. I had some popcorn chicken, kimchi pancake and spicy seafood soup. All of which were delicious and perfect combinations with my beer and soju. The service was great too. Friendly and fast. I will be making this place my new soju watering hole. Come join me next time. :p
