I went to Together As One in 2008 and 2009 and had the time of my life both New Years Eve/New Years. My girl friend and I agreed that we’d begin partying after we graduated high school so being able to finally do something as big as a rave like TAO was a big deal for us and Insomniac Events did not disappoint! Tiesto, Armin, Deadmau5 and many other big names normally play at TAO making it absolutely amazing and worth it! I find raves with an endless list of dj’s are much more worth it than going to a concert. Indoors and outdoor venues :) Based on my experience both years I give it 5 stars. words just can’t explain my experience. I don’t do drugs or drink btw, this review is strictly being written by a gal who enjoys the music + dancing for 10+ hours. I’m going again this year but Insomniac Events isn’t holding it anymore so I’m extremely curious for how the turn out is going to be. I will review next year after my attendance ;)

for all thoes who are complaining and gave this event 1 star, its because you got there late and did not have your tickets ahead of time or payed for overpriced VIP. all my friends met at my house since i live 5 minutes away from the sports arena and we got there early to park [$ 20] and get a place in line. When we got there, there was already a ton of people there but we got in line and waited for it to open. When they finally opened, people were trying to cut and the line just turned into a clusterfuck. As we got closer, We had to go through 3 different people to check our IDs. [thats probably why i heard the scanners broke because at the beginning they were scanning everyones ID3 different times] After the ID check you had to go through security and they make you take off your shoes and everything. I didnt mind though because they did the same thing at monster massive. We got in and just started having fun and dancing down on the sports arena floor. Later on in the night around 9 me and my boyfriend went outside to go see 12th planet. it was freezing cold :(It was too cold for us so we decided to go back to the sports arena floor. Apparently they closed it off because it turned into a huge clusterfuck for afrojack so we had to wait 30 minutes for the floor to clear out and for the security to open it back up. Me and my boyfriend were first in line so we got back in but apparently right when we got down there one of our friends texted us saying they closed it for the night since people were pushing to get in and he couldnt get back down. But after that we were just dancing and having fun for the rest of the night. The kinda messed up on the countdown lol but who cares. Bomb music and cool people. We left around 1:30 to try beating traffic getting out. That idea failed so it took us like 30 minutes to get out. In all it was the best new years i ever had. Got to spend it with people i like and got to hear music i like. The only thing that should be changed is the line getting in and water should not have been $ 5. Probably gona go again this year :]

Once I finally made it in, had a good time with great friends and some epic tunes. That said, thanks to the shitty job by go and insomniac, I will NEVEREVEREVER attend another massive in Los Angeles. Having some experience with massives and festivals, my friends and I all got VIP tickets with the intention of avoiding hellish lines, and scoring free water. My home-girl and, unlike the rest of the party we arrived with, had to pick up our VIP tix at will-call. Pretty much the beginning of the end. The will call booth was half way down the path to the main entrance and was so crushed by the main entrance line that by the time we got our VIP Tickets, it was physically impossible to get back through the crowd to the VIP entrance. So we were stuck in the main entrance crowd. It took One HOUR and FORTYFIVE minutes for the crowd to move about 100 feet forward and into the security checkpoint. Another 20 minutes to get guided through security… Most of the«security» workers weren’t even doing anything. Then I get to the guy scanning the tickets who scans mine(the one I picked up at will call 400 feet away, after paying 150 dollars for it) and says to me, «Have fun with your fake ass ticket, bro». What a DICK. Anyway, he let me through so who cares if he was an idiot. Once In, I tried to find out how to get my VIP wristband since I wasn’t able to go through the proper entrance, but none of the security or staff people could tell me where to go, NONE! Luckily one of the VIP areas allowed me in with my ticket stub, and they ran 100% out of water by 11:30 with another 2.5 hours left of the event. So basically, in exchange for the extra 75 dollars above normal ticket price that I spent, I recieved exactly 2 free bottles of water and nothing else. The music was good. But these insomniac people are the worst thing to happen to electronic music since Darude made Sandstorm. What a bunch of posers. Plur is officially dead. and speaking of dead… what was with the braindead staff at this event? Was there not a single person available to work on NYE with an IQ of over 48? Two stars: One for Jack Beats, One for Dada Life Zero for insomniac, go ventures, and groovetickets

You would think that TAO would have generated enough revenue from its tickets sold that they could spend a few more on barricades and security. And also to extend the so called«mainstage» tent longer. The whole event was so crowded that I was literally bumping shoulders with people I didn’t know, and rubbing my private parts all up on everyone. Also — I thought this was an 18+ event? Or can any 14 year old grab a friend of the same gender’s license and claim it as their own? The only good thing TAO did was discourage me from attending such events in the future.

The lineup for this event was unbelievable. I had my entire night perfectly planned out. Afrojack in Saturday Night Sessions Arena from 8 – 930, Dada Life in Together Arena from 930 – 11, Laidback Luke from 11 – 1230, and finally Wolfgang Gartner from 1230 – 2. It’s like Insomniac knew the most played artists on my iPod, and planned this event specifically for me. Other than the talent, however, TAO was a joke. I brought my lady here for her FIRSTMASSIVE, hoping things would be smoother and better planned than EDC. Not a chance. We arrived at the venue around 8, and I was hoping to at least catch the second half of Afrojack’s performance. Yea right. We walked up to the first will call line, hundreds of people already waiting. We hadn’t even stood for five minutes when we start to see people fleeing to the other side of the venue. I frantically ask some people around me wtf is going on, and I’m told that the INTERNET at this booth is down. Oh of course, of course, that happens all the time! So we make our way to other will call booth(yes, 100,000+ tickets sold, and there are TWO will call booths). Not surprisingly, there are TWICE the number of people crowded around this booth. There wasn’t even a line. The booth was surrounded from all sides. The harder you pushed and shoved your way to the front, the faster you were gonna get your tickets. That’s how it worked. At one point, my lady friend was so surrounded by people that she literally could not move. I was holding onto her hand, but I could not see her face. When I finally located her, she was near tears, and was halfway to having a panic attack. HAPPYNEWYEARSBABY. About an hour after we parked our car, we got our tickets from the will call window. HOMEFREERIGHT? Dream on. Next came the main entrance line. Another 45 minutes went by, and I had missed Afrojack’s entire set. I was absolutely devastated. To make things worse, we had missed Dada’s intro, and we realized after the fact that Dada played Dynasty for their intro(lady friend’s favorite song). I was absolutely sick. After the rave, we moseyed on back to my buddy’s house, and we kept partying until 6am. The afterparty turned out to be more fun than the rave. Somebody remind me, why did I spend $ 70 just to put myself through all that stress? Oh and, this didn’t affect us because we bought all our waters early on in the night, but I heard that they also ran out of water? Can someone confirm this?

GOODEVENING, THISISLOSANGELES! –dj pOOgie I’m from the Old School generation(1990s Hard House) so I’ve seen the scene revolve in circles. I was amazed to see how many people attended. I stayed backstage and would not dare to step out into the crowd which was OK since I go strictly to listen to the music and see the reactions. The wait for tickets, parking, restrooms and drinks must be horrible for the general public, but the music is great!

2010TAO was the worst I’ve ever seen an event company host an event. Lines took forever, no barricades to prevent cutting, and some Insomniac employee with a megaphone yelling down at us and at one point telling one guy he hoped that guy died. Not a great way to treat your customers esp after they’ve been waiting in line for hours. I understand that people’s safety are first priority at all events like raves but honestly I felt more dangerous waiting in line compared to all the FUN happening once you were inside. I was so scared there was gonna be a stampede. It was ridiculous. On the good side: Laidback you always make me talk dirty :) dirty enough for 3 stars :]

Out of all the events i went to this year, EDC, Audiotistic, Nocturnal, Kaskade @ palladium, A&B TATW350 @ Palladium, TAO2011 was by far my least fav event this year. Music was ok, I’m not saying Wolfgang gartner, Dada Life, Afrojack, Laidback, Rusko, Jack Beats didn’t rip it up, i’m just saying it could have used a little more trance, or we might as well call the together arena a Saturday Night Session Arena also, For Example Nocturnal Was very balanced, They had their bass rush, the house electro stuff, and the trance stage with markus Schulz., Ferry Corsten, ATB. Markus Schulz was the only trance artist at TAO. Horrible lines, took us about a good hour or two to get in, missed half of markus schulz set. the way they set it up was very confusing, took us a while to find the bassrush arena. The event felt like it was very«cheap» but people paid 60 $, 70 $, 80 $, or even more for the event, it wasn’t even close to how good the other events it was this year, EDC, Nocturnal etc. This was my first TAO, i’m hoping next year will be better, and more well organized.

First, start with the good. The music was unbelievable — Dada Life killed it and Laidback Luke spun an awesome set. We missed Afrojack and 12th planet but heard they were really good. Wolfgang Gartner was good, but not to end the night because LL and Dada Life were better. The music is where he good part ends. Now the bad: 1. Disorganized — VIP lines/sections were not obvious when we walked in. Security had no idea where the VIP section was either. Huge crowds everywhere and nothing was clearly marked. 2. Crowds — They just let in as many people as they could despite not having the structure to support that many people. Some waited 2.5 hours just to get in, drink lines were horrendous even in VIP. 3. VIP — VIP area, when we finally found it, was terrible. A couple couched thrown in a parking lot with long drink lines an bottom of the barrel vodka drinks with no option to upgrade. VIP line just to get in took forever. I have no idea what planet Go Ventures would consider this a VIP experience, but not on planet earth. 4. Extras — Go ventures put no extra effort into this event in the form of decorations, parking, organization. On top of that, they ran out of water at the end of the night and the cab situation outside was non existent. I could tell Insomniac was loosely affiliated with this event because they always put a good amount of effort into their events. Too much money, too long of lines, too many people and not enough fun to make up for it.

I thought it would have been«cute» to hit this up considering 10 years had past since my first Together as One. No, not Tee-Aye-Ohh. Back in the day when the flier read«To get her ass on e» if you stared at it for a sec. longer. Back when they played some underground ish. But everyones out for the mass appeal. It’s all kiss fm tunes now: «When I see her face… cause you’re amazing just the way you are» It was more crowded than a free HIV clinic in africa. 80 dollar ticket, insane parking fees, line to get in, line to get ticket scanned, line to get a wrist band for brews, line for beer, line for the restroom and all through this, chump ravers just pushing you to get through. These new school party go-ers are straight up rude. They can have the party scene & everything it evolved into. «Deep in the underground…» Your Homegirl, Violy

Ok I give the Music a full 5 Stars all the way. But had to give overall experience a 3 because: 1. Line to get the VIP tickets from Groove tickets was over an hour, will never buy any tickets from them again, how can you have machines malfunction on such a huge night!!! 2. General admission lines had no signs and they didn’t check the tickets or direct people to VIP, so over half the VIP ticket holders got their stubs ripped and had to wait another hour to try to fix that problem. 3. Waited another hour to trade tickets for wrist bands, why can’t they give us wrist bands instead of wasting time and money printing out paper tickets. 4. Bar lines were another 30mins. for drinks. 5. VIP area was the most ghetto experience ever, uncovered area in parking lot with a bunch of sofas laying around and porto-pottyies. 6. Way way too packed everywhere and traffic to get in and out was horrible. 7. Might never go to another TAO unless they are strictly with Insomniac because Go Ventures = EPICFAIL!!! 8. Might just stick to GIANT because their VIP actually feels like VIP and is 21+

Together as One is an awesome TYPE of event… but the promoter(GO Ventures sucks terribly in comparison to Insomniac, who barely contributes to this event even though both names are affiliated with it). Insomniac puts on SICK events by itself, but when partnered with GO Ventures is pathetic. The line was rediculous… we were treated like cattle, which is interesting considering the pricetag of 70 – 100 dollars per ticket. Put a pack of Lakers fans in a mosh like that and I guarantee it wouldn’t have been pretty. Ravers on the other hand, can handle the crowds with a little more grace… GORAVERS!!! TAO had no cool artwork, average music and NO frills. I consider it a walmart quality rave. I can’t wait for Beyond Wonderland, which will be bad ass!!! because Insomniac is the sole organizer!

Can’t believe nobody added this in yet! TAO2011! Most amazing way to celebrate the new years! I’m super giddy that it was 18 and over because honestly those kiddies don’t know what they’re up against so stay at home. Plus Insomniac did the production with stinking GOVentures in their way. Boo! Traffic was terrible to get to this place, obviously. Not to self: Don’t take Martin Luther King Dr. Take Exposition instead. Too many people trying to cut in a huge ass line for the exit causing traffic accidents and angry people. Not cool. Parking kinda stinks because they know how to milk it. I mean $ 60 for parking?! Rip off! But if you’re desperate then go for it. But average is about $ 30. But I would recommend parking at a resident and walk your butt there even though it’s far and freezing. Save money right? Entrance to the rave was intense. I’m not going to lie. There’s 2 entrances for general and they were a big mosh pit. Took our group almost an hour to get in. Lines were not organized but how can you organize such a huge mob like that? I’m guessing Go Ventures is the one in charge of this madness since they always suck. Great thing is that all the people that you’re bumping with are super chill and nice. It tells you that it’s going to be an amazing night. Security check was worse than LAX security. No lie! They made me take off my shoes! WTF?! It was freezing, a lil wet, and I was wearing stockings! Also the groping got a lil more invasive then usual. FYI there’s checking your candies now so crotch everything! I love how they have an amnesty box! LMAO. I was seriously thinking that people are going to put notes in there or someone is going to steal that thing. Once you get in, it’s freaking amazing! People are awesome and friendly. Drinks are total a rip off $ 5? Buy one and fill in up at the water fountain. 3 stages: So more places to dance. But if there’s a major DJ coming in it will be intense. The Main stage was packed as hell. Can’t really blame them. Wolfgang Garter is amazing but he didn’t live up to the expectation. Afrojack did! Countdown to the new year’s is awesome. Getting a new year’s kiss with my sexy baby and wishing all my friends and people around us Happy New Year. Bottom line: I wish I could party like this all the time. Especially during New Year’s although they could have done better with the organization. I’ll look pass that because the only probably I had was lines which is obviously GoVentures fault and traffic which is inevitable anyways. But sadly I think my time is about to end but never my memories of all the amazing nights that TAO gave me. TAO2010&2011! Hoping for an amazing one as usual at 2012!
