Went there last night around 9:30pm and the whole place was shut — together with the Mercantile next door. It wasn’t even clear(notice on door et al) whether they were shut just for the night or closed down permanently.

No ratings actually, but just noting that as of 8÷10÷14 when I showed up with friends, they are closed for renovation. The parking lot is dug up. Don’t know if they’re renovating or if it’s closed for good. 3 stars for a middle of the road rating of??? and hoping for opening. The Mercantile next door also looked closed down.

One thing has changed here and that’s the menu. Which in most bars is not a problem but the township actually had a pretty great menu for a bar. Excellent wings. Terrific hot dogs. And both we’re available during happy hour as specials. Not any more though. They replaced the excellent bar offerings with the same ridiculous bougie menu offered next door. Such a huge mistake. When i go to a bar with a lot of tvs, an amazing whiskey selection, looking to watch sports, the last thing I want is Brussels sprouts and a red wine reduction sauce. Totally ridiculous. The service is still good. The people fine. But this menu has truly ruined this place. Never coming back.

Township Saloon, what happened?! This used to be one of my go to Hollywood spots for drinks. Happy hour that goes till 8? Check. Free parking in a lot? Check? THEBESTMAC N’ CHEESEINTHECITY? HOLYCRAPYES. Also great fried pickles. Sadly, they cut back on parking first. Oh well, nbd, going there right after 7pm, easy to find street parking. Still have happy hour till8 and great food. I just went there tonight. Happy hour goes till 7 now. Aka, is basically useless for industry folk who work until 7pm. Fried pickles? Gone. The best mac ‘n cheese ever? Gone. Seriously, I only had it twice, and all that was stopping me was embarrassment – that 5’2″ me was going in to pick up a to go order to eat all by myself. BUTITWASSOGOOD. I’m so sad I didn’t get to have it more. 3 stars because it once was great. Servers were and are still fantastic, but I won’t be back, unless proper happy hour comes back at least. I make it a point to try out new places frequently, meaning I rarely return to one spot more than once unless it has something great going for it. Township Saloon used to. Now… not so much.

Came here to watch the USA vs POR World Cup game. It was a great spot! Love the interior of the bar, I’m a sucker for dark wood and rustic appeal. They have a nice selection of beers. Whiskey seems a bit over priced, so I didn’t end up ordering any. The bartenders were attentive, they were able to deal with the large demanding crowd watching the game. It was my first time and definitely not my last. Very choice spot to grab some drinks and watch a sporting event, and much classier than your typical Hollywood sports bar.

This used to be my go-to spot before seeing a show at the Henry Fonda a few blocks over. It has a good atmosphere and friendly crowd. Sadly, it’s gone downhill so fast I feel like Sisyphus. Look, it’s Hollywood. I can deal with the unimaginative bar food and crappy parking. However, if I am buying the pricest bourbon on the menu, in a great mood, AND treat those around me with class and respect, I don’t expect the staff here to be uptight, rude and lazy. There are just too many other great places that won’t abuse your trust and confidence once they start to experience a modicum of success — i.e. The Cat and Fiddle whose longevity speaks for itself. Love that place. This particular night, the bartendress acted with such attitude /insolence, the guy next to me felt bad enough to buy me a shot of Eagle Rare for my stoicism. It was ALMOST worth it. I entertain with gusto when freinds visit from out of town, but while the Township does offer a splendid choice of whiskeys, the food is increasingly bland and the service has recently been borderline shameful. Third strike, and it’s time to move on from this«Town.»

While located in Hollywood, this is one of those bars that I could see myself being a regular if I lived a lot closer. It’s not by most of the mainstream Hollywood clubs or bars but is close enough to walk from Cahuenga places. From the outside, I was skeptical. Once I walked in, however, I immediately felt comfortable. Pretty insides, lots of wood and felt like a different place. We were there on a Saturday night and surprisingly it wasn’t very crowded! Prices aren’t terrible either, I’d say middle of the road. Lots of whiskeys to choose from. That said, you should probably know a little about whiskey before going in. We asked the bartender for a good smooth one and the one he suggested was not at all. It was still good, however. I was lucky to find street parking in front and didn’t bother with the lot. Not a big problem in this area compared to others. Try it, be patient with slow service but enjoy the ambiance. It’s worth it :)

Township. Where the wait staff is slow, but they had a pretty good happy hour, food, and seating. Now they have cut their happy hour, cut their food menu(as well as food on the happy hour menu), cut seating, and their wait staff is still more interested in the game on the screen than helping you out. And as if that all wasn’t a big blow, they also charge to park now? Wow. Gotta find a new place for drinks after work…

Three things: 1. Think about Hollywood. Think about lines, think about expensive, think about jam packed and loud, think about lots of hype with no substance. Okay, got it? Now, strike that, reverse it! And get thee to Township. The friendliest gastropub-aka-sports-bar on Sunset. 2. The food and drinks have NEVER disappointed. Ask for their infused bourbon specialties and definitely check out the oyster po boy. And the hot dogs. And the tri tip sandwich. And the pot roast. 3. Whether it’s a quick dinner, or a bigger gathering(my husband and I had the pleasure of having his birthday party here just last week… super shout out to the amazingness of the whole bar crew who made us feel so welcome!), I cannot think of a happier Hollywood-not-Hollywood spot than Township.

I’ve been coming here for 3 years because I worked & lived in the neighborhood since I moved to LA but I have to say the staff here is just the worst. Not to mention the food sucks pretty bad too. But whether I’m coming here for happy hour, dinner or after hours drinks there is always some nonchalant unprofessional and careless bartender here with barely a waitstaff and no one who seems to give a sh*t. I also go to Mercantile regularly which has a great staff and lovely menu and my credit card bill tells me you have the same ownership. So I guess you throw your trash over to the sports bar?

Wow. They sure do have a LOT of whiskey here. I had no idea it was a whiskey bar when I looked it up on Unilocal,so I wanted to throw that out here. I ordered the Blue Collar Burger, medium-rare. And it came out perfectly red. I somehow missed that it came with American cheese and oh god is American cheese awful or what(PLEASEIGNORETHIS, NSA). The burger, other than that oversight by me, was perfect. My friend got a hot dog and I swear it was 18″, so if you like hot dogs, there ya go. As for service, our waitress was really sweet, but also very distracted and it would take us a a while to flag her down for anything. I don’t know if I’d go out of my way to come here, but if I were in the neighborhood sure.

Been here a couple times now for diff. events and its a cool place to go to if your in the area. Its not the biggest but can try to accommodate large crowds. The service and bartenders were awesome and nice. Made me a few nice Long Beaches!(like long islands only no coke. sub cranberry juice! delicious) Parking lot isn’t the biggest so that sucks but there is one so thats a plus.

After a long morning/afternoon at LA Pride, the GF, brothers and friends were ready to get the hell out and get with the soak up all the liquor in our belly’s meal. Her brother lives right next to this place and loves it so Township it is. We walk in, super cute, not packed, not empty just right, table for 6, sweet sat right down. The bartender/waitress could obviously see the drunken dehydration going on and immediately gave us pitchers of water. She was on top of it the whole time too, we were never without, awesome! Time to order, I ordered the Bourbon wings for the table, and a Township Tri-Tip Sandwich. Both were so damn delicious. I was not disappointed. Everyone else enjoyed their food, and drinks and the check was super cheap for 6 people!

I’ve been drinking a lot of the brown stuff lately, the fire water. Whiskey, bourbon, rye. I blame my brother. I blame my best friend. Their favorite drinks fall into the family of brown booze + bitters, shake and enjoy. And so I’ve succumbed. It has certainly lunches more interesting… So I heard this was a bourbon bar. So I went. Upon entering, it is also very much a sports bar. It is casual, with tvs on the wall, a bar eats type menu and a good feel. Much like the American(New) styling thats everywhere and cocktail menus that go with it it, so do the chalkboards. But here they list an impressive selection of bourbon. And playing both roles of cocktail bar /sports bar, the pricing is its favor. Up Cahuenga to Hollywood a cocktail typically runs $ 14, here you’ll find most in the $ 9 – 10 range. Not bad, right? What a difference a block makes. Not long ago I wouldn’t have considered myself a cocktail person, but what new restaurants in LA don’t first hand you a menu and then hand you a card, one listing their special house cocktails. They all do. And some places give them crazy names. Or make up their own. But now I’ve been to all of these places and while I won’t claim to be an expert I must say, a very good sazerac. And at $ 9 despite the menu listing it at 10, why not? Also, how often does that happen? I was a fan. Township fills a nice little spot of a casual but nice sports bar /cocktail joint combo where you can watch the basketball game and still get a stiff drink that doesn’t come on an illustrated menu — or you can get a cheap beer! And food! They have seats at the bar, or long tables inside if that doesn’t please you or really the best option of all three, an outdoor patio right next door to their neighbor the wine bar. It’s true they have free parking, in a lot just west of the entrance on Hollywood and street parking there as well.

I love this bar! It’s just a hop away from my office so it’s convenient to come here on Monday or Thurday evenings when the Ravens have a game. I can stay parked at the office but Township actually has its own free parking lot so it’s nce to know I have parking options, especially in Hollywood! We actually had a company happy hour here with at least 40 – 50 people once and there was still plenty of room in the bar. Casual, social atmosphere with plenty of seating and a shuffleboard! I only took off one star because it seems to be understaffed at times. There should not be 1 bartender working during Monday Night Football! I haven’t been here yet for a Lakers game so I’m looking forward to it. Decent selection of beer. I wish they had more veggie options but it is an Americana bar and what is America without it’s meat, so who am I to complain? Great place!

Yes Virginia, there is a bar in Hollywood with FREEPARKING. Township is next to its sister establishment, The Mercantile and they share a private lot where you can indeed park for free. That’s awesome for a chill day spent watching games. This place specializes in American whiskey and craft beer, plus an array of classic American comfort food… hence the Americana in its name. The space is great for large groups with lots of seating and 10 TVs all around so there’s not a bad seat anywhere. But, the games that are shown on each TV do vary depending on the specific service so a few of us were shuffling seats between games. To drink, I had the SOUTHERNSWEETTEA, made with bourbon. It’s a great sweet and strong drink and you can get it cheaper during happy hour. To eat, I had an order of FRIES(thick-cut and good) and the NEWORLEANSSHRIMPANDOYSTERPO’BOY(it was just alright… I think I’ll try the pot roast or ribs next time).

Kay, totally love this place! After having an appalling time at Kitchen 24( ) Tyler and I came here because we wanted to redeem the day. The bartender(Greg?) was awesome, great to talk to, and gave us a little knowledge about some of the beers there that we loved but knew nothing about). This is a great place to check out! Beers good… whiskeys good… now I have to check out the food sometime!

I had a great experience here last night! We came here because it was within walking distance of my friend’s house. It wasn’t very crowded, but then again it was about 6pm on a Sunday night. Our server was very helpful in describing all of their cocktails, I finally settled on a Southern Sweet Tea. My Sweet Tea was delicious, although I wish they gave you a little more, it was in a short glass. One of my friends got one of the infused house bourbons. It was amazing! I never thought I could enjoy Bourbon on the rocks but this was so tasty I ordered it for my 2nd drink. For food I ordered the Turkey Burger. The waitress let me know that instead of caramelized onions it would have beets. I’ve never had beets on a burger, but as a turkey burger connoisseur I’m always up for a new twist. YUM!!! So delicious! The bread was light and fluffy, too! As much as I wanted to save some for later I just couldn’t do it, I had to eat it all! The waitstaff was very attentive and friendly. I will definitely be back for some Burgers and Bourbon!

Wow. They opened yesterday and they’re kickin’ some fabulous @$$ on their 2nd day in business. I have been to a LOT of places for pre-opening or opening events, and they rarely have their sh*t together. If I’d stumbled in here, I’d never have guessed it was Day 2. I went here expecting a fairly typical bar-and-grill. Instead, I found a new-american-southern-flair-whiskey-bar-and-resto. Food: 4.5 stars — I had the shrimp & grits(6 stars) and shared a side of fried okra(3 stars) with my dining companion. Shrimp n’ grits = brothy, savory, mmmm. Perfectly cooked, lightly salted, lightly cheesy and strewn with little chewy bits of high-quality bacon. Unusual presentation… served in a little bit of broth(shrimp broth?) which made sure that these grits weren’t dry/thick/porridge-y as some grits can be. Shrimp were perfectly cooked and juicy(most shrimp n’ grits have overcooked shrimp IMHO.) Fried okra = good texture, still some okra crunch, light batter, not greasy. I personally would’ve liked a little more seasoning in the batter, but then I’m a spicy-savory-sassy kinda gal. More seasoning and they would’ve been 4 – 5 stars. Drink: 4.5 stars. They had a personal fav rye — High West. At $ 10 a pop for a solid pour, I was def pleased. My friend liked the beers but wasn’t keen on the moonshine. Ambiance: 4 stars. Candlelit Americana. Warmer than I expected. Nice mix of different seating areas. Low elegant picnicky tables, high tables for two, barstools that looked comfy, and a loungy spot up front. Service: 5 stars. Jillian was one of the best servers I’ve had this year. Friendly, prompt, attentive enough but not too much, confident with reccommendations, and genuinely enthusiastic… so refreshing! My companion knew/spotted the owner(he apparently owns more than a few local spots) and I was mainly happy to have an opportunity to give props to Jillian. Final verdict: My disposable income usually disappears quickly Downtown, but this spot’s worth a Red Line trip and a short walk for the food and the service. I’ll be back.
