My boyfriend visited Zambezi to purchase African style clothing for us to wear to attend a wonderful Kwanzaa event in Los Feliz. After hearing how my boyfriend was treated by the owner, I will never set foot in that place again. She was completely unhelpful and rude for no reason. My boyfriend had questions and the owner, whose photo appears above, could not have been any less willing to assist him. Too busy on a phone call to acknowledge a customer. Thank goodness her employee, an gentleman with an African accent, appeared and politely offered to assist him. The kind man gladly helped my boyfriend determine my size, as the dress he was purchasing for me was a gift. After making his selections, and further conversation at the cash register about the size of the dress, the owner offered up encouraging words: «you’d better get it right because I don’t give refunds.» How ironic it was to see this same woman on stage at the Kwanzaa event! Racial unity YES… respect for paying customers… NO! What a hypocrite!!! Don’t worry. When we attend another cultural event, we won’t trouble you to assist us in any purchases. I’d rather turn to eBay than SHOPINMYOWNNEIGHBORHOODANDBEMISTREATEDBYMYOWNKIND! We should have approached that local Walmart(now closed) and suggested THEY start carrying African related clothing and items. That wouldn’t have been good for your bottom line. Please treat all customers with the same dignity respect that you preach and that we should afford each other as a people.

This is my go to for Nubian Heritage Mango Butter Soap & lotion. The owners are very friendly and knowledgeable. My husband always finds little knick knacks for me that are soooo cute & always make me smile. Their prices are reasonable, and they’re always adding new items to their stock. A great place to go for gifts, or to treat yourself :)

This business sells lovely exotic jewelry and intimate touches. I always go upstairs to look at the book collection. Frantz Fanon, Frida Kahlo, Josephine Baker and Miles Davis receive coverage in the book selection. Leimert Park becomes a stronger community for having this shop. I hope they remain here for many decades. It excites me to come here.

I love this place. Mary and Jackie are two sisters that have owned and loved this place. By the way, their brother is also involved in the business but the sisters are there when you walk in. Unique hand-selected jewelry and other gift items are easy finds when you want a special gift that doesn’t scream department store counter! You will find yourself wandering aimlessly through the small boutique because lovely finds are in every corner.

This is a great destination for one-of-a kind birthday gifts or treat-yourself gifts. The store offers a wide selection of quality handmade items, African-influenced crafts and clothing, and an incredible selection of used books and LPs in the upstairs loft.

Right in the heart of Leimert Park, this place is owned by two sisters and has been around a while. It’s a nice, eclectic store with lots of interesting things to buy. Handmade earrings, vintage posters, cards, gifts and clothing.
