Sixth Street Diner

Stumbled on this place, looked very home town cooking. Ordered a chicken Cesar salad. How can you goof that up? Thought it would be perfect.
Waiters was unfriendly, not rude, unfriendly. Salad was old wilted yellowed iceberg lettuce, chicken on it was pretty good. Not an impressive small town Diner. Should have known, place was empty at 1:00 pm.

Great prices. Generous portions, great breakfasts and overall really good food. Nice atmosphere. The owner Dave is really nice.

Our favorite spot to eat breakfast in the whole town. Food is amazing, the service is outstanding and the price is quite reasonable, especially since the portions are so large each meal ends up being 2. Really love going there.

The food is subpar, as is the service. I don’t go here anymore. There are much better options in town.

Biggest burgers in town great flavor. Have loved everything I’ve tried form here. And they have the best chocolate milk shakes!

Food was good but trying to get help or all your food can sometimes be hard. Make sure you ask for it or just forget it. We got a straw that had the paper half off. And the bag they put the silver ware in make sure you crumble it up or they reuse it. Saw them do it. If not used like straw not being fully closed they put back also. Check your stuff out before you use it

I went to this place for dinner and it was very sub par. Service was good and fast. Food wasn’t good. I ordered the tri-​tip sandwich with sweet potato fries and a salad. The salad was ok, all the ingredients were fresh. But the sandwich and fries? Pretty bad. The meat seemed old and dry, and the fries were the worst sweet potato fries I’ve ever had. Old tasting from the freezer. You’d think that a restaurant in the country where they GROW food would be able to get some fresh items. I guess not.

This place was awesome. Any waitress that doesn’t mess up or question my order deserves a 5 star rating. My order? The New York Steak breakfast with a Chicken Fried Steak on top. Boom. They delivered and it was delicious. The eggs and hashbrowns were cooked to perfection.
The service was on point and I got plenty of attention and never needed to call over my waitress. I recommend this place for breakfast.

A friendly welcome is always nice. I love restaurants in which you feel like you’re getting a good bang for your buck and this is one of those. Real hefty portions of homestyle deliscious food, what else could you ask for? I had the double cheese burger with sweet potato fries and let me tell you. Thats a mans burger, fresh patties, nice soft bun, the works, great stuff!

Another favorite breakfast place in Los Banos. It hasn’t been here very long like Eddies, but the food and customer service are great, and the portions are very generous. Another favorite weekend breakfast spot!

Best place in town. You will never go hungry here.

downtown los banos…6^th street filled with shops and food options… sixth street diner open for lunch… small town diner and quite casual… tvland on the tv over the counter… handful of people eating… mostly empty and quiet… seated at the counter and taking a diet coke $ 1.99 with quick refills at the counter… browsing the menu and finding a reuben sandwich… choice of beans, cole slaw, fries or sweet potato fries… taking the sweet potato fries… sweet, crisp outer and soft center… perfectly fried and delicious… reuben was also excellent… rye bread with dark swirls… corned beef was thick slices of tender beef piled high… flavorful and tasty sandwich… portions are quite large here and prices are quite low…$ 10.99 after tax for a hefty sandwich meal with soda…

Ok, the one star I gave this place is actually too generous, but there isn’t an option for a no star rating. Today was my last visit here and I will not be missing it, either.
We sat ourselves at a table large enough for four… at a DIRTY table. We politely asked to have our table cleaned, which didn’t make the girl with the Halloween green claws happy. We should have taken that as a sign of things to come, but we were hungry and still hopeful. After being delivered COLD, OLD coffee, our order was begrudgingly taken. No conversation, no suggestions for meal specials, no polite talk or greetings… nothing.
Long story short: do not go here if you expect good customer service… wait! That’s asking too much… do not go here if you expect customer service, if you like your coffee hot, if you want a clean table with no flies, if you want someone to say «your welcome» to your repeated «thank you’s», if you generally want a good experience. As a local, this diner will never get the business of my family and as many of my friends… ever again.

OK. No more stars for you 6^th street. Your waitresses are consistently a pain in the butt to deal with. Every time recently. Why do you hire idiots who hate their job? That creepy lady with the green nails and cross tattoo needs to get out of there. She was the final straw, along with the black haired baseball cap lady. If you’re gonna stand over there and talk crap about your customers instead of try to help them with typical customer needs, at least make it a little less obvious.
You leave tables dirty all the time. You wet them down, but we have to clean it ourselves. We have to ask for all of our own extras by going to you, instead of occasionally offering help to us, like your job entails. You actually asked to refill our drink, but gave the wrong one. You had one job! To be a decent waitress!
The food might be great, very rarely, and OK all the other times, but even at its quantity and price point, its not worth the annoying experience of coming here.
I guess they only need to cater to the ancient regulars and their friends who somehow keep them in business I guess. I’m a local resident and semi regular here, and I can’t take it anymore. Maybe if I’m craving something I’d order to go. And that’s where the 1 star stays.

Don’t go there if really busy food is good but they don’t give you all that you ordered and still charge you

The location is in downtown Los Banos, plenty of parking and shops to walk around and see after your meal. The staff consists of a few waitresses, they aren’t especially friendly/​pleasant but that can be overlooked because the food is that good. The diner is always pretty clean, the layout of the tables and chairs could be repositioned for easier accessibility. The tables and chairs are old, they could definitely use some TLC, the restaurant is kind of dingy… Again, can be overlooked because the quality of food is good. The food is excellent, reasonably priced and the portions are huge. Overall this is a pretty good diner, I would recommend this diner after The Courthouse Diner.

This is probably my favorite place to eat in Los Banos not because of the ambiance but because the food is awesome and the people are nice. The menu is really quite impressive for a little place in terms of the variety and as I said the food is really good. My favorite is the meatloaf sandwich with soup instead of fries! I ding it one star because it is kind of a hole in the wall and run down but overall it’s clean and the food is good!

We decided to try this diner because it has 4 star rating. The diner is located in downtown and easy to find, lots of parking on the street. We walked in to the diner, the waitress with tight up blond hair who stood the closest to the door just ignored us, very rude. We found a place to sit by ourselves. We later found out that she was not our waitress and I guess she figured she won’t get tips from us anyway, so what’s the point of greeting us, right? After we sat down, we were served by a Hispanic lady, and she was nicer. However, given the coldness of the blind lady, it made us questioned even our server’s sincerity. I ordered grilled pork chops with eggs and my husband ordered corn beef hash. The portion was big just like the typical diner food. The grilled pork chops looked wonderful but was very tough and inedible. The corn beef hash was very dry. Overall, it’s very disappointing.

Service is slow and food is great! Ill be back

We have been here many times and never leave hungry and always leave satisfied. If you are into small-​town diners with fresh food and huge portions, you really need to check this place out. Los Banos has a lot of options for places to eat out but this diner is one that really stands out from the rest. Best family dining experience.
