Great wine. Great bread. Wish we got bottomless baskets for the price. Get the Olive oil dip. I had capellini with chicken. Very tasty and lemony. He had lasagna. Fresh tasting but small portions.

My date insisted on coming here — I was reluctant after reading the reviews. As I am very busy and a night out is a real treat I SHOULD have insisted on going elsewhere! The menu is WEIRD!!! I do not eat pizza but decided that the vegetarian pizza with pears sounded like the best bet. The best thing about Amici was the drinks. The bartender is very imaginative and pours some great cocktails… We had the Cracked Cucumber and a Mojito — 2 thumbs up! The atmosphere is cold and OLD fashioned. Service was Ok. Food left much to be desired. One entrée sounded interesting BUT the REFUSED to leave off the sardines? Another was Manicotti that had Shrimp added to it??? This is a traditional«vegan» meal… Menu DIDNOT line up with the one shown online… Which was disappointing. Will not go back. Much better Italian on Frankfort Ave! Volare all the way or The P place!

We loved this Italian restaurant in the heart of Old Louisville. From the moment you go in you feel like you’re eating at a family restaurant. It’s cozy, and with a great bar. I started with a Cracked Cucumber, a drink with gin, cucumber, and cracked pepper. It was refreshing with a kick. For starter we had breadsticks stuffed with mozzarella and they were perfect. Crispy on the outside and all melty in the inside. I had the lasagna and it was very good, and the chicken tortellini was also delicious. Next time we want to try more of the starters menu and hopefully save space for dessert.

My ‘Cheers’…That place you can go to over and over… where everyone will know your name. I love going there to meet friends to talk, have a drink, appetizer, pizza, pasta and they have the best burger in town…

A solid 3 stars. I enjoyed the food, thought the waiter was informative and polite. Piano playing was a pleasant treat. Liked that you could order everything from a sandwich to a full Italian meal. Will go back.

I would give it a 3&½. The pizza is great and I love their outside. I absolutely love their sweet basil dressing on their salad. They seem a little understaffed at rush lunch hour often though. Get there at 11:30 instead of noon! I do appreciate their location though!

Amici has a great atmosphere, excellent service and fine food, but I can’t quite shake the feeling that it is significantly overpriced. I’m happy to pay a little extra for ambiance, and the outdoor dining area is loaded with that, but $ 15 for a plate of spaghetti(with a side salad) seems a bit steep to me. That said, on a romantic summer night, it’s a lovely treat.

Man where do I start. Pizza sucks. Service staff was good, but the kitchen was slow. My cat can fix her own meal. The décor is cute and the little patio area is cool for wine and drinks, just don’t eat here. The chicken tortellini was like stuff from a can and took 2 hours to get to my table.

Great patio in the Summer. Best Eggplant Parmesan in the world! The food is always fresh and delicious and the service friendly and prompt.

Having a place within walking distance with this nice of a patio is awesome! The food is ok, but the atmosphere of their patio is def worth a trip. On my last visit I ordered a cheese pizza and a bottle of wine(to share with my beau, of course). The pizza was actually really tasty and the wine was reasonably priced. Our server was super friendly and checked on us just the right amount. We enjoyed our late night dinner on the patio! I am looking forward to going back again soon on another warm evening.

I love this place. It’s just great! I have tried many of the dishes and haven’t been disappointed once. It’s small and quaint. Great for a bottle of wine and and a date. Sometimes they even have a piano player. We had stuffed bread sticks and the white pizza. I loved them both. I usually get pasta but I decided to branch out. I also noticed the the guy from man verses food has eaten here and by the picture on the wall he looked like he liked it too.

My favorite little local Italian place. The food is fresh and offers some great vegetarian selections plus the servers are always super friendly and quick to get you what you need.

Amici is a nice place with a good ambience. They had this great young guy playing piano and it was nice lighting but should have been warmer. We went at 7pm. We started off with the Calamari Fritti which was okay, but a little chewy and a bit cold. The sauce was tasty though. We both enjoyed the house Chianti. No idea the winery but it was very good, full bodied. We each had a salad and I got the house made sweet basil dressing which was very tasty. I ordered the Penne all Lorenzo which was really good, creamy but not greasy. I did think however they should give their guests bread with the meal rather than the packaged breadsticks they have sitting on the tables. My guy got the Chicken Tortellini with Asparagus that was amazing. Really tasty pesto flavor. Their portions are generous. Our waitress was very friendly. We will definitely be back when it’s nicer out.

Atmosphere, great food, great drinks, an unbelievable wine selection, and a perfect area. Really? How could you give this to any less than five stars? For the middle to late age couple, this is the perfect end to a week of closing out one’s business in order to retire. The pizza is well beyond anything I expected. And I was expecting quite a bit. I had the muscles last time, they did not disappoint. My lovely bartender has picked wine after wine in order to ensure that I have the class that will make me happy. Both times I have been here, he has succeeded in his endeavors. Great service, great food, great atmosphere. This is the kind of place that I want to spend my evenings. I will spend many nights here enjoying myself and reveling in the successes of my life. Because, you know, that’s this kind of place. Success!

Overpriced, terrible service and the food is basically mushy Italian. The atmosphere is okay I guess. I wish almost anything would replace this restaurant. I would honestly rather eat at Olive Garden and that is not saying much

I absolutely adore this place. The atmosphere is to die for. The food is fantastic. & the waitstaff is extraordinarily friendly. Only downside to our visit was waiting a while to get our check… Other than that, wonderful. Don’t forget, half off bottles of wine on Tuesdays!

I expected so much more from the food based on comments I had heard about Amici. It was really just average. Based on the outside charming décor, I thought that the interior would be as charming. It was tired. I think the cocktails were made by an inexperienced bartender. None of the 3 we tried were on par. The pasta dishes we tried – lasagna and chicken tortellini– sounded great on the menu, but in reality they were mediocre – more like a home cook could prepare. Our server was everything the restaurant was not – unique, welcoming, and competent.

I’m a fan. This super cute Italian joint is located near Central Park so we tried it yesterday before Hamlet. It was me and my two daughters. We split the calimari and a sausage and pepperoni pizza and had fresh shredded parm added. The waiter was great. They had several nice draught beers on the list. All of the inside was already reserved so we sat outside and many of those had«reserved» on the tables as well so if you plan to go it may be a good idea to make reservations. It’s a very romantic setting so it would be great for date night.

Charming Italian place in Old Louisville. I have only been here for lunch, but was very pleased. The owners are very nice and the staff is friendly. They have a good half sandwich and half soup/salad combo special… probably your best bet. The soups are delicious, made in house and vary with the seasons. The salads are very good too, try the basil vinaigrette dressing. My favorite sandwich is the meatball. Careful eating though– bit messy! I suggest going here when the weather is nice, they have a small patio area and if you close your eyes you can pretend you’re somewhere in Europe :)

This place does not live up to a quarter of the potential it has. As a frequenter of the Old Louisville area, I was delighted to be made aware of what looked like a charming Italian eatery nestled betwixt the lovely urban architecture. However, upon dining here, my expectations were dashed, hopes obliterated and chances of ever dining here again decimated. We entered and were happily surprised by the charmingly kitschy décor(was it intentional?) and greeted by a very amiable and delightful host. He was the best part of the entire experience by far! Wish I could’ve gotten his name, but he was friendly, kind and accommodating. Sadly, our happiness ended there. Our server, over the entire course of the experience, was slow, rude and terribly cold. We initially sat outside, and when the wind violently blew over a menu that hit and knocked over my friends water glass, our server looked at the situation, muttered«oops» and walked away. We moved inside to avoid the wind, and the server continued to be thoroughly unhelpful. In fact, after we placed our order — which we were only given the opportunity to do after our appetizer plates had been CLEARED, he asked«would you like some grilled bread with olive oil with the meal?» We said yes, but when the check came, it was $ 3 for the bread and $ 1 for the olive oil! Highway robbery! Our entrees were all just fine. Nothing exquisite but nothing inedible. Just fine. But the horror continued when our check came. In addition to the bread debacle, someone in our party who ordered spaghetti was shocked at the total. The menu stated«build your own spaghetti — $ 15, choose one of the following» with several proteins listed. On the check, it said Spaghetti — $ 15, Add Chicken — $ 4. A misleading menu is horrendously insulting and reeks of owners trying to take advantage of their guests. As mentioned, the food was fine, but I dine out for an experience, not just a good meal. And this experience was one star at most. All in all, it was just a really poor experience. We wanted to love it: come by and have a beer and some pasta sometime, but given what was possibly my worst dining experience in Louisville in memory, I can almost guarantee you we never will.
